Great Smart Lock!!
Works great for a "just released" product. All I needed to install was a screw driver, took about 20 minutes. The lock looks nice, my wife actually approves (usually doesn't care for new tech items)! I had an August Smart Lock before this (wife didn't like) that I actually removed a month ago, this works a lot better. Easy to setup with an iPhone, just open the Schlage lock app and follow the commands. It's easy to add codes for the lock from the app and lock & unlock the door. Siri works great for locking & unlocking hands free. The lock works great away from home, takes 10-15 seconds to connect through the app, I have a new Apple TV for a bridge. I can check the status of the door from work or wherever, never have to worry about leaving the door unlocked. The motor that turns the bolt is quick and seems to have quite a bit of torque, definitely better than the August Smart Lock I had before. I really like that multitude of options for opening the door, you can use a key (like a regular deadbolt), the touch pad, or an iPhone. The lock has a couple features I haven't tried yet, like auto lock (after a set time), or an alarm that can sound if someone is trying to jar your door open. The only complaint right now was it took a few tries for the lock to update it's firmware, the first couple tries failed. I'm really happy with this lock and it has solid hardware and the software will only get better with time. This has been only available for a few days now and i'm impressed how well the app works to date. I'll keep updating my review if things change, thanks.

No Key, No Problem - Great Smart Lock
1 Week Update Still LOVE this lock. It has recognized the Siri command 9 out of 10 times (The 10th time, Siri hears "Locked the Door" and chooses to do a google search instead. However, I think this may be a Siri thing and not a Schlage thing) . All you have to say is "Lock the Door" and Siri does it with ease! I love that. Another time, I was busy talking on the phone, and I wasn't paying attention, and I punched in the wrong code like 4/5 times. Well, my Schlage lock disabled leaving me locked out! (I did have the key but didn't use it) So, I opened the app, pressed the unlock key on my phone, and PRESTO! DOOR OPEN! No issues. This was the first time I was FORCED to open it with my app and I REALLY needed it to work. AND IT DID! A week later, still 5 stars. I'll be back with any other issues. Older Review Just had this installed on my front door today along with 2 other Schlage Touch Deadbolts for my back and side. Since I didn't install it myself I cannot speak to the installation process. I will discuss a little about how this lock works after clean install. This lock comes with 2 access codes that will lock and unlock the door. It also has a "programming code" that you will use in order to "manually" (physically touching the keypad) to change, add, or delete codes. I manually did everything first and then I downloaded the Schlage app on my iPhone 6. As soon as I opened the app, it immediately recognized the lock. The app initialized the programming process and it was it was up and running in 2 short minutes. PS- After initialization it auto updated the firmware which took about 5-10 minutes to complete. The look is very nice and sleek. The outside keypad felt much smaller once installed on the door. The back is also less clunky then I thought. Very happy with the look and feel. The automatic locking mechanism is slightly louder then anticipated but Im not considering that a bad thing. I think it's better that it's louder so that you can hear it open and close. On its first day, I haven't had any issues to speak of and I'm very happy with the purchase. Should there be anything to speak of in the upcoming days/weeks I will be sure to update my review. But for now, I'm sticking with 5 stars.

Schlage Sense โ Three Strikes, Youโre Out!
I bought this lock because I needed a reliable means of programming a lock for guests. This lock is clearly full of bugs and I would not recommend it for anyone. Before buying the lock, I read the over-all reviews that were fairly good, however encountered similar problems that I had read from others I presumed as being most likely user error. The physical installation went well with the tests done on the keypad working exactly as described in the manual. However when I tried entering the programming code followed by a โ0โ to pair the lock with my Samsung Galaxy S5, the first two attempts would not connect at all. I tried one last third time where I was asked to enter a new 4 to 8 digit code, at which time I entered a five digit code. Instead of the lock completing the configuration, I received the error โThe app was unable to pair with your lock. Please retry and double-check that you entered the correct programming code in the app and the lock. โฆ. If you own this lock, reset the lock to the factory default settings so that you can pair it to your account.โ I then tried entering the user codes the lock came with, however they no longer worked. I then tried entering the user code I tried to pair the lock with, which also did not work. I lastly tried to enter the programming code in one last attempt to re-pair the lock; however that also no longer worked. Essentially, everyone would be locked out of the lock and if they did not have the key in hand, they would have been completely locked out of the house. The manual says that the lock should be reset to default settings, however there should never be a reason to reset the lock to factory under such a circumstance. I even tried calling the helpdesk; however they are not open on Sunday. This is our vacation house and it takes about two hours to travel back and forth, therefore I was not going to take any more chances.

Excellent product. Made of very sturdy material
Excellent product. Made of very sturdy material. The physical installation was simple except if you choose to install the optional reinforcement plate to maintain the BHMA Grade 1 rating, which I did. You would then need a wood chisel to shave off the door frame to fit the reinforcement and strike plates. The Schlage app was a little moody and I had to reset the lock twice before the app recognized the unit. Getting my iPhone 6 onto homekit was simple as well my the wife's iPhone 5c. Had a lot of difficulty getting my daughter's iPhone 7 onto homekit. Ended up setting up her iPad Air instead which in turn automatically resulted in her iPhone working. Initially homekit would keep losing connection with our 4th Gen Apple TV, but that went away after I did a hard reset of my iPhone which is logged into the iCloud account connecting HomeKit. The lock itself works very well. I've read that the motor is loud but it's not any louder than the Kwikset Premis. If one follows the directions correctly and the alignment is satisfactory, the lock should not ever jam. I don't have any firsthand experience, but I've seen reviews on youtube that comment about the Kwikset locks jamming sometimes.

Great if you have an iPhone and NEW AppleTV
As other reviewers have stated, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! I bought 2 of these, one for the front door and one for the back door. I love the fact that I never have to worry if I left a door unlocked or not. The built in alarm works great, and you can adjust the sensitivity of it from the app. The auto lock feature works perfectly and has adjustable intervals (I set mine to 30 seconds). Adding user codes is a breeze with the app, however they all have to be the same length. This means that if you set your admin code to 4 digits, all your subsequent codes will have to be 4 digits. I am using 8 digit codes, but that's probably overkill. There is a max of 30 user codes, however you have to set them to each lock individually. A code programmed for your back door does not automatically get programmed into the front door or vice versa. This could be beneficial if you need a lot of codes and multiple locks as you could use 30 per device. Packaging was great. Install was a breeze and should be no problem for anyone who can read instructions and/or has installed a household deadbolt before. Only tool required for me (your results may vary) was a standard Phillips-head screwdriver. The setup with my phone was fine and went very quickly. Just don't manually test the lock before setting up the electronics (as is stated in the instructions). For me, when installing a deadbolt, its just second nature to test the action immediately after finishing the install. You shouldn't do that until you've gone through the electronic setup first. Once I finished setting everything up and pairing the app to the lock, I was prompted for a firmware update. No big deal except that I had to leave the app open on its update screen and my phone near the lock for about 10 minutes. Firmware update was simple and straightforward. I am docking a star for 2 reasons (both of which are probably more Apple's fault than Schlage's). First, I had to log in and out of icloud on both my AppleTV and iPhone twice to get the ATV to connect to the locks. Not a huge deal, but I think the ATV should be connecting just as easily as the phone. Once the ATV was connecting to them, I was able to get status and operate the locks from outside the bluetooth range. Second, there is a pretty significant lag (approx 30 seconds) when operating and checking status of the locks from outside BT range. This causes Siri to time out and tell you that she can't get a response from the lock. I hope a future firmware/app/homekit upgrade will resolve the latency issues. ***24 hour update*** I am convinced that schlage really needs to work on their app. It is not very well designed at all. Many times I just have to close the app and reopen it. The app arranges your locks by alphabetical order by the name used when first pairing the lock. So changing the name to reorganize them doesn't work. So if you're using more than one, make your front door "front" and the back door "rear" instead of "back." The app also doesn't detect homekit configs created by other apps. If you try to tell it the same name to use, it can't because its a duplicate. I am still having trouble with these locks responding through my AppleTV. I have not yet called schlage as I consider this a last resort. I am testing my "away" function simply by disabling wifi and BT on my iPhone. So far, I have cleared my homekit config, and set it up again from scratch. Logged into and out of icloud on every possible device in every possible order. And rebooted all devices in every possible order. The more I work with these, the more that I feel like they are designed to be keycode locks first and smart locks second. I am also giving schlage the benefit of the doubt as I'm pretty sure this is their first app development ever. This is getting a little frustrating, but I'll keep updating as I go. On another note, the built in alarm does work. I had to turn the sensitivity all the way up and give the door a good solid hammer fist to get it to sound. At least it doesn't go off when the pizza guy knocks or like those bad '80s car alarms that went off if you sneezed near them. Lastly, after a factory reset of my front lock, the thumb lever now has a lot of resistance in it where it didn't before. The rear lock is still fine. I'm not giving up, nor docking any additional stars... YET!

Looks good, works well
I've been using this on my house for about a year now. I love that I can set codes for different people and enable/disable them with the app. Now I don't have to worry about forgetting to leave the key for the pet sitter when I go on vacation. :) I also love being able to unlock the door with my phone - especially on dark sub-zero winter nights. It's much better than fiddling with a key. I chose this lock, however, because it DOES have a key and I really didn't want to risk getting locked out with no way in if the battery died or malfunctioned. So far the battery and lock have both been operating just fine, though! I also like that the lock is still relatively traditional looking. My home is not set up as a short term rental and I don't want it to look like one. I feel like this lock blends in well with the rest of the hardware in my home. I don't use it with Alexa, so can't comment on that,

Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt is a great beginning.
I wanted to replace my Schlage manual keypad deadbolt with a HomeKit supported deadbolt so we could control it with our iPhones. I've had the deadbolt installed for about a week. The installation went fairly smoothly, especially since I was replacing an existing Schlage deadbolt. I ran into the same issue others have reported where the keyed tab and slot were 180 degrees off and I couldn't rotate either end enough to both be pointing up or down together. After a short time I figured out that I could rotate each 90 degrees and get it to fit together. So it was going together vertical instead of horizontally as the instructions illustration indicated. Although the instructions illustration shows them being horizontal the instructions only say to align the notch with the tab. So I chock it up to my assumptions from the illustration and not the instructions fault. But it could have been a bit clearer. After I figured that out it all went smoothly following the setup steps. I can lock and unlock the deadbolt using the Schlage app and also using Siri on both my iPhone and Apple Watch. I can also ask Siri if my "Front Door", as I named it, is locked or unlocked. I have also added (invited) my wife via HomeKit so she can also use it. You need to make sure that others will be able to respond fairly quickly to the invite or it will disappear and you'll have to try it again when thy are nearby. But it worked fine. I have read where some are having trouble remotely managing the deadbolt. I set my Apple TV 4 to never sleep and also signed off and then signed back in to my iCloud account as was suggested by others. I then turned wifi and bluetooth off on my iPhone to test "remote" control via Siri and it worked fine. I then texted my wife who was about five miles away as the raven flies (we don't have crows) and ask her to tell Siri to unlock and then lock the deadbolt remotely. This also worked fine. My Apple TV is fairly close, about 30 feet, from my deadbolt. No problems As with any new technology there is a bit of a learning curve and there will be some bugs to work out but I expect it to get even better over time. I did expect the new Apple TV to be able to manage the deadbolt via Siri but I just get a message on my TV which says, "Sorry, I can't help you with HomeKit here". I would think that should also work, perhaps in an update. I also would like to able to get notifications when a deadbolt action occurs. Overall I highly recommend this product if you want a HomeKit supported deadbolt. Besides, it's also a Schlage product and I have Schlage hardware throughout my house. Six exterior and twelve interior doors.

no wifi needed, can work direct with either IPhone or Android via bluetooth
I researched which door lock to use for over one week. I ordered this one, as it works direct with my Android cell phone via Bluetooth and also works with my wife's Iphone via bluetooth. we are able to see if the front door is locked from over 15 feet away, and you can lock and unlock the front door too, all with the app on your cell phone. it is very easy to install. we had a schlage dead bolt on the door, so I removed the old schlage, followed the well written instructions, and installed and programmed this unit in less than 30 mins. all you need is your phone, a Phillips screw driver, and the sense lock. is is almost plug and play. it comes with 4 AA batteries, which are supposed to last a long time as the lock runs off bluetooth, which has a very low battery draw. the app with the sense is the only way to go, as you can easily and quickly communicate with the lock via the app, again, no wifi needed. you can order the optional WiFi adapter to connect to your home WiFi if you want to access remotely(meaning away from home, like at work). you can set all the things you want the lock to do or program the users you want to have access to the lock and the times and therianthropy codes for the lock all from the app. DO NOT get the connect model, you can not do all you can do with the SENSE model. the sense model is the only one to get if you want to manipulate the lock with the app, and use the plock with an Android and an iPhone. I also ordered from Amazon and received the lock literally on a sunday, and I ordered on a friday. and it was less expensive than anywhere else. Amazon is the only way to go.

great product app not so good
we are enjoying our new lock. it works great and looks awesome with our new door. very happy with it. BUT the app you have to use with it is not so good. very slow and other issues which you can read on the app store for whatever device your using. and yes you have to use the App to set it up and do everything. once its up and running. your fine. husband did have little trouble installing the lock, apparently it comes in pieces you have to put the lock together. the instruction were alittle vague so he just googled about it and what others did. and he was good to go. we like this company and there products. I'm hoping this lock will last as long as our others ones have. fingers crossed.

No weekend support.
I tried to set up the app but it did not work properly. I tried calling the support but they are only available during weekdays which didnโt help me since it was the weekend. Decided to forgo the app feature and try the manual programming but it wouldnโt accept the user codes that was on the user guide so we had to uninstall it again from the door and replace our old lock. We were really looking forward to having it installed and adding our friend. Very disappointed.

Best. Lock
Best. Lock. Ever. Wow. The Schlage installation video in the app is the absolute best. I was able to install this by myself in about an hour total using the installation video.
