I left school several decades ago, but now want to understand life in terms of its science, technology and engineering. School teaching had not worked for me and failed to properly ignite any desire to care about these areas. But now much older, I find looking back (as well as learning about recent developments) both relevant and enlightening. This book was bought with the hope that it would help nurture that maturity. I can report that I constantly refer to this book to learn about the whys and whats of how processes work. It even helps me successfully explain features of the world to 4-5 year olds.

Totally love all the books from DK!. As a parent of a child with autism and auditory processing disorder, I'm always on the looking for the best educational resources out there that may offer the maximum visual input paired with the minimum language required to convey an idea. I don't think anybody comes close to this brand!.

My daughter swore she was going to hate this book before I bought it for her, and now she absolutely loves it and is always looking at it. The information and full color pictures on quality glossy paper is incredible. I bought her the math one too. So glad I bought them for her. Wish I had these when I was in school. Totally worth the purchase.
