Dire Straits - Going Home DVD Video

Brilliant, I used to own this on vhs so knew what I was buying, I saw them on their Live in 85 tour and it takes me back every time :-)

78 mins of Dire Straits at Wembley in 1985. It's not the whole show, there are obvious 'edits' to the set list ... but its a worthwhile addition to the collection with decent sound (Stereo only) and decent picture quality (in 4:3 and of 1980's standard - so a bit blurry here and there - not exactly sharp!) No real reservations - it's not an official product but it's of a quality that makes it an ESSENTIAL purchase for fans of the band who have the rest of the stuff that's out there.

Finally found a DVD copy of most of the Tube's Live in '85 show to replace my old Video Tape copy, not the complete show but enough to get the flavour of Dire Straits at their best. Pity the owners of the original recording haven't made it available to us old DS fanatics.

Not a DVD as we now know it. It has a "Play" and "Select Song" but that's it, and indeed is really all one wants anyway! Although the video is clearly dated, it is viewable as a live concert. Fortunately the sound is good, and is (again) what one wants, of course. As others have commented, it is a must for DS fans, as none of the versions of tracks played by DS is ever exactly the same, with constant slight reworkings by Mark Knopfler. Recommended.

Good concert but quality of video is a little down, which I suppose is to be expected of such an old recording.

4 étoiles pour ce DVD qui a le mérite d'exister avec une très bonne prise de son (bonne stéréo). Hélas l'image elle, est plutôt de la qualité d'une cassette VHS... mais c'est un enregistrement qui date du 10 juillet 1985 !!!Un menu permet l'accès direct à l'une des 11 chansons disponibles.Pour les collectionneurs.

Dire Straits showed one of their greatest performances on this DVD, including those lovely songs from Brothers in Arms that you won't find on other live DVDs. I would give 5 stars to the songs on the DVD. However, the sound and visual quality is something like a film from mid 20th century, and the way songs were edited was not professional. I would pay twice as much if the DVD was remastered with modern quality.

１）「Thank You Australia」同様に我慢の限度ギリギリの映像。ステージが暗いから１９８５年当時に技術では仕方ないのかな。　２）突然始まり、突然終わる、「全く雰囲気の出ない」映像。せめてステージに姿を現す「始まりの場面」が欲しい。３）不鮮明な映像を隠すためか、ビデオクリップ用（？）のCG映像がたびたびオーバーラップする。ファンとしてはたとえボケボケでも生の映像が見たい。４）音量が小さく、音質もいまいち。５）結論：４，０００円の価値があるかどうか大いに疑問。「Alchemy」も「On the Night」も持っていて、さらにライブ映像が欲しい人にのみ推薦します。ライブ映像は初めての人は「ON THE NIGT」を買いましょう。
