Reading reviews on Amazon is a fascinating process. 5 stars if they work, 1 if they don't, not much between, and enough 1 star reviews of a 4.7-star product to give you pause. Even using Fakespot to help hasn't added much value. I've come to the conclusion that there is a certain level of manufacturing defects in most products, especially electronics, that the 1-star reviews are justified but should not overcome the plethora of 5-star reviews. So on that basis, I took the plunge here after an hour of researching stupid wall charging blocks/cubes that only cost $15 for a pack of 5 anyway! All 5 of mine work perfectly. However, the first time I plugged in the USB cord, my phone did not start charging. "Oh boy, the 1-stars were right" was my immediate reaction. I tried another cube. I noticed in the second cube that I has to really push the USB cord in firmly, and voila, the phone started charging. Then I re-checked the first cube, and pushing in the cord more firmly, it worked as well. Rinse and repeat, all 5 cubes worked. So, I would advise you to buy these blocks, and to be sure to firmly insert the USB cable. I actually appreciate that it is a snug rather than loose fit. But it is easy to think you have inserted it all the way when you haven't. I wonder if that affected at least some of the 1-star reviewers.

Works as advertised. Fairly straightforward product so not much to elaborate on. Well packaged and reasonably priced.

Got the pack mainly because I wanted cheap USB plugs for powering little ESP32 boards (one’s currently wedged between a router and a bag of screws for some reason). These cubes fit snug in the outlets in my garage workshop. Dual ports are fine, I’ve only ever used one at a time though, didn’t notice any overheating unless you count that one time it was next to the space heater. The plastic feels solid enough, not soft or bendy, even after I dropped one on the concrete floor. Charging my phone is normal speed, not “crazy fast” but fine. The LED indicator thing is missing, which I kind of expected but still looked for it anyway (I always think it should glow?). They’re LIGHT, so I keep losing track of them in drawers with random screws and wire bits. For 5 in a pack it’s decent, I’ll probably keep two in the living room and the rest in my tool bench area.
