Having always had a passion for art, but never the ability to really do it myself, I was looking for a good introduction. Andrew Loomis' books (not just random YouTube tutorials on the "Loomis Method") are highly instructive and beginner friendly. For example, I can now draw a head with ease from any angle. Book quality was incredible too.

I don't even normally write reviews BUT these books are absolutely second to none when it comes to improving your skills as an artists!! In my opinion the techniques Loomis demonstrates for us can be used for almost anything, there is far more to gain from these books than just being able to beautifully create people on the page. The way my art has improved thanks to this mans work has given me the confidence to believe in myself and has also blessed me with the ability to create things I didn't even think was imaginable at one time. Even my eye for painting (Which isn't discussed itself in the book) and quite simply sketching things has broadened more than imaginable. I feel like I can actually call myself an artist now thanks to my choice to dive into these books. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend these books to anyone experienced or not so experienced. (Also my girlfriend who is amazing at drawing and painting loves flipping through these too ahah) Did not find it too hard to read either for an old book that covers the details of technique!! Will be reading more of Loomis in future!! :)

A excellent set of books

Amazing product, bad packaging. I received the "Figure Drawing" book with a dent on one of the corners, but I bought the books for the content, not for display. The impact was powerful enough to dent the book and the protective sleeve that contains the two books. A bubble wrap would keep the expensive books from damaging and prevent them bouncing in the cardboard box.

The delivery packaging was a little lazy and so the book covers were slightly creased but the books themselves are very high quality

Gorgeous presentation and box set of two influential drawing instruction books, receiving these is like seeing these books from the 1940s and 50s intact, with an elegant slipcase to tuck away and protect them when not using. I’ve been around long enough to remember when these books were impossible to find at reasonable prices. I’m glad that time is over with these stellar reprints. There was serious care taken in reproducing the original hardcover case bound book designs here, with full-color dust jackets and uncoated interior pages like how it was all intended to be shown (I have had two of Loomis’ other books, Creative Illustration and Fun with a Pencil, so I’m familiar with how they were done previously). You can tell the Loomis family probably had a big say in this reprinting because you don’t see artifacts these days so carefully reproduced and corners not being cut, so kudos to them and Titan Books for prioritizing quality and durability, thereby guaranteeing Mr Loomis’ art instruction wisdom is available for today and future generations to come.

Let the learning begin. I've heard about Loomis for many years and indirectly learned a thing or two from his methods but here I am saying yes to embracing a new chapter in my art journey. So glad I found these books.

I bought the book for my daughter who can draw. I can't draw and the book probably would not help me but my daughter was instantly using it. The drawings look very good in the book and there are many explanations for how to start drawing. I am just not talented like my daughter is (and she asked me to buy the books so I trust them to be very good books).
