Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless (russian)
My blade of choice in both my shavette and safety razor. Here's a ranking of the blades I've tried so far. #1. Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless (russian). Super smooth have, zero irritation and sharp enough to cut on the first or second pass. Gives just the right amount of "feedback" to let you know where your stubble needs more attention and where you can skip over. Not many blades are this intuitive. My only gripe would be the amount of glue used on the wrapper, it tends to make you fuss with the blade in your hand more than you'd like to. Lasts around 4 shaves. My personal favorite #2. Treet (orange and blue label). Similar smoothness to the 7 O'clock but less sharp, requires a few passes. Cheaper, and less frills. Lasts around 3-4 shaves. A CLOSE second place. Almost a toss up but the Gillette takes it. #3 Feather Hi-Stainless. Sharpest blades ever, no question, but slightly irritating depending on technique and no room for error. Cuts clean on the first pass. Use only on thick beards! For a moderate beard like mine its simply too sharp and too costly to justify. Lasts 4 shaves. #4 Astra (both types). Found these to be moderately sharp and did not irritate the skin at all. Not as sharp as Treet/Gillette imo. Takes some effort for a baby's butt smooth shave but if you're not too picky these will get the job done. Lasts 2-3 shaves #5 Shark Super Stainless. Great middle of the road blade as far as sharpness and lack of irritation. EXCELLENT blade for beginners, very forgiving as far as poor technique is concerned and gets the job done. Too bad they don't last too long without tugging/pulling. 2 shaves max #6 Big Ben (blue box). Another middle of the road, just not as good all around as Shark (both made by LORD). Did notice some irritation due to its slightly less-than-sharp edge. Stick with shark, its around the same price and you'll get a better shave. Lasts 2 shaves #7 Derby. No irritation...and not sharp at all. Didnt care for it one bit. Had to change the blade out mid shave since it simply stopped cutting! Maybe a bad batch?? If you dont have much of a beard I guess these will work, but why not try something better? Lasts NO shaves :P #8 Trig (made by Treet). Another "Derby clone". Unimpressive, lackluster performance. #9 LORD Super Chrome. Similar to Derby, didnt cut too well, got dull quick. Could have spent 30 min and probably got the job done but why bother?? Tossed it mid shave, boo! #10 LORD Platinum. With every shave I prep with Proraso pre-shave and Proaso shave soap...this time it didn't help. This one messed my face up BAD. First 1/4'' near the side burn and I had a 1'' gash across my face (didnt notice til after washing off soap). Next day my face was on FIRE, massive razor burn (only shaving with the grain mind you). The sharpness was there alright, right up there with 7 O'clock, but it seemed as if the blade were almost serrated! STAY AWAY!

An awesome, smooth shave
These blades are awesome. I've tried the Derbys and they're okay, but a little too dull for my taste. After reading reviews on the Astra Platinums, I ordered and gave those a try. Every time I would shave I definitely cut myself and it just felt harsh on my skin. After going to my local barbershop I saw that he had a pack of these Gillette 7 O'clocks so I gave them a try. Just the right sharpness for a smooth shave with barely any nicks. But, too each his own. What works for me may not work for someone else. I would recommend someone new like I am to get a sampler back. Or if your local barbershop sales DE razor blades, purchase several different ones and see which works for you best.

Great, Smooth, and Consistent blade performance.
I have been wanting to try these blades and finally got around to them. They are very good blades, super smooth for me, and the price is pretty good. These are Gillette blades and thus are going to be some of the better blades out there. The thing that stands out to me about these blades is how smooth and comfortable they are from the first shave to the last. They just don't degrade in performance like some other blades do. They remain consistent and smooth right up to the day they stop cutting. I have used one blade for 59 consecutive shaves and found them to always perform well.

but does not have very course stubble like me. Overall
These blades are quite sharp and smooth, comparable to Personna Blues. For me, these have provided many a comfirtable and close shave, but with more effort than more efficient blades such as Astra Platinums. The lower efficiency may be worth it for anyone who wants a smoother blade, but does not have very course stubble like me. Overall, a very nice blade that is worth trying.

I don't know why I try any other brand or type
Sometimes you find something in life that just fits you like it doesn't fit anyone else. When I first got into using a double edge blade for shaving I got one of those sampler packs. I tried all of the different brands and versions and nothing worked for me like the green 7 o clocks. They just work perfectly for my contours and skin type. They are the prefect blend of sharpness and flexibility. These aren't as sharp as feathers, but they absolutely last longer. I can get 3 or 4 shaves out of each blade before it pulls uncomfortably. The sharper blades trash my skin leaving me bleeding from multiple spots. These are the perfect blend of sharpness and durability. I bought one of these mega packs which lasted me for YEARS. Finally made it to the end of the pack and thought "maybe I should try one of those sampler packs again...". I tried 3 different blades from the sample pack and went running back to the green 7 o clocks.

The blades are "good"
These were advertised as "Super Stainless made in Russia". The seller obviously needs to be investigated because they sent me PERMASHARPS made in INDIA. The blades are ok and it seems like I'll be averaging about 3 shaves for blade (I have stubborn Eastern Bloc European facial hair and need to give about 3 passes, same for cartridge blades but this is wayyyyyy cheaper). No nicks, no irritation, decent life, but the bottom line is that the seller is SHADY and is falsely advertising what they are selling compared to what they are shipping.

This blade has changed
These blades have changed from my 3 prior orders of the same. Print on blades barely visible, and they no longer have numbers 1&2 on one side and 3&4 on the opposite side.

Five Stars, perfect product!
Last year i received a safety razor shave kit for Christmas. The blades provided we Tomur, which i hated, and ruined the experience. I searched and searched the stores for double edged razor blades, but found nothing but cheap store brand blades, which could be just fine but weren't much of a value. I went online and searched around for blades, and there was a plethora of options. I ordered one of the trial packs, which was very interesting to say the least. Most blades are made in Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, ect which struck me for a quality concern. Out of all the blades i tried i noticed the variables were in angle, pitch, bevel, and sharpness of the steel. This Gillette set was the most well rounded of the group. There were some crazy sharp ones, but they only lasted for one shave. For my personal shaving tendencies the others would pull, tug, or produce nicks, or cuts. This Gillette set is made in Russia, however It is actually just as good as any Gillette product ive ever used. I prefer it because it's a very consistent shave, soft steel good for about four shaves, yet does not irritate the skin. Ive found that Hard steel tends to last longer however cant get as sharp as i prefer for a comfortable shave. The quantity of this product lasts 1 year, so i just recently ordered another bulk 100 blades. I would recommend this to any beginner, or anyone who has a safety razor. I feel it is a very happy medium for all of the many confusing options out there. Gillette in my opinion is really the best a man can get.
