Superb smart lightstrip – brilliant colours and easy to use
I bought the Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus v4 (2m base kit) to add some ambient lighting at home, and I’m really impressed with it. The colours are vibrant, the white tones go from very warm to cool and bright, and it instantly makes any room feel more cosy and modern. It looks especially good tucked behind furniture and along edges, giving that “floating” glow without seeing the strip itself. Setup was very simple. I plugged it in, paired it via Bluetooth in the Hue app, and was up and running in a few minutes. The app is easy to use, with loads of scenes and effects, and it’s great being able to dim the lights, change colours or turn them off from my phone. Voice control with Alexa/Google/Apple also works really well once linked. The strip itself feels good quality, the adhesive backing sticks firmly, and I like that it can be cut to length or extended later if needed. Once it’s installed you can more or less forget about it – it just comes on with your routines and quietly does its job. Overall, this is a fantastic smart lightstrip if you want reliable, high-quality ambient lighting that integrates nicely with a smart home. I’m very happy with it and would definitely recommend it.

Philips Hue Bridge v2 and Colour Striplight v4
Have purchased my first Hue light a 2m colour striplight (v4) snd a Hue bridge (v2). This was for my 10 yr old daughter's bedroom and she is very happy and excited. Pros and technicalities: Ovetall Very easy, simple and convenient setup. Easy to integrate with Alexa. Great product from Philips Hue. 5 stars You Must have downloaded P Hue app (Android, iOS) before installation. 1. Plug Hue bridge into power source 2. Attach bridge with rj45 cable to your network or router. 3. Open app on phone. It automatically detects Bridge, then updates it. 4. Beware it takes quite some time to update! (approximately 15 min) 5. Attach striplight to power 6. Search for Hue lights in app. 7. App detects striplight (very easy, first time, no lag, smooth) 8. Once integrated, it can be named whatever you like. Jojo, rattle, bindi, we settled for Griffin! App now updates Striplight (expect another 15 min to complete it). 9. App integrates with Amazon Echo Alexa seamlessly and works smooth with voice commands. 10. You can name the Room and lights in that room, so I guess you can add as many rooms (as you can spend) and lights in each room. (Total 50 with each Bridge as per manual). 11. You can set scenes and ask alexa eg: 'turn savana sunset in room 1', Perfect 12. You can set routines, timings when light to come and go with sunset and sunrise etc etc Cons and ideas for improvements: 1. Slightly less user friendly for complex settings ie setting routines and grouping lights in each room and then the whole house. It could be improved by adding icons instead of too much prose, (like somfy TaHoma app) 2. Voice commands for Echo: It wouldn't work if you say 'Set Savanna sunset Scene in Room1', instead you have to be Specific and say 'Turn Savanna sunset in room 1'. 3. Setting routines could be simplified: one example is you want lights control to be activated at night time commwncing with sunset and switch off with sunrise. This could be more user friendly in the Hue app as current a bit complex set up. Finally the price of the Hue lights is ridiculously HIGH, you pay a premium, (though no doubt Hue lights are amazing!). Probably it is due to lack of competition but in modern era soon expect other competitors with at par quality of lights and app to get into the ring... can Amazon start making its own colorful lights?!

Coil Whine + limited application
These are easy to use and cut, and generally work well for the price. There are a series of adhesive strips on the back that can be tricky to peel, but otherwise they are easy to fit. However, the power adapter has horrible coil whine. It’s not exclusive to this product, it’s quite common in the hue lineup. But if you are trying to track down a high pitched whine, try turning your hue light down. The strip gets plenty bright, but as it’s not diffused in anyway you can only really include it it out-of-sight areas to reflect or bounce light off a wall. This works great at the top of a wardrobe or cupboard, but less so on the back of a desk, where you’ll see lots of spot lighting on the wall. I’ve had one running for 5+ years in my kitchen with no issues on durability and the app offers plenty of colour customisations. Connection is a breeze, but you’ll need a hue hub.

Easy to set up and great ambient lighting
This Philips Hue lightstrip is easy to install and gives off excellent, even lighting. The colours are vibrant, brightness is strong, and it works seamlessly with the Hue app for custom scenes and schedules. It’s perfect for adding ambient light under shelves or behind furniture. Although it’s not extendable, the 3-metre length is generous and works well for most setups. A quality product that does exactly what you expect from Hue.

Hue are invariably the best LED lights for Apple HomeKit.
I put this around the top of my (very large) fireplace, above the log burner. I was worried how it would perform with the residual heat as the log burner can reach hundreds of degrees, but it is such good quality, it's been in a year now and it's just great with no lifespan issues. I used aluminium diffusers, which I connected around the inside top of the fireplace, and then fed the LED light strip around it. There were already three halogen spotlights up there which kept blowing and they were a pain to replace, so I removed them and I was able to use the hole that already existed for the mains cable, and I used a sticky pad on the transformer to stick it to the metal blanking plate. It looks amazing, and it is easy to control the colours. and brightness with HomeKit or the Hue app. Connectivity is a doddle too, just scan the QR code, and it's added to your home set up.

Second Hue Light strip - Same Result - Great
So this is my second light strip for under the the kitchen counter. Again no issues and having learned from installing the first one this was even easier. Cut the strip as needed and installed no issues. Again I've seen some reviews where people say the adhesive isn't very good. When I bought my first strip I was wary of that and when I pulled the first piece of backing of the adhesive cover it pulled the whole adhesive leaving a less than sticky strip. This is what happens when you pull the adhesive cover from the end of the strip even when you cut. Carefully reversed what I did and then pulled the adhesive cover from the cut line in the strips. You can see many cut lines in the adhesive cover pull it there! Trust me) All in all love the colour and brightness in the kitchen now. Great product. Would by again

Lighting is ok, terrible adhesion
Light works well, connected to my Hue hub very quickly and performs exactly as you'd expect. Massively let down by the abysmal adhesive on the back of it, it's the cheapest, nastiest kind they could find. The strip peeled itself off within a few minutes and I had to clean it all off and replace it with a different tape. They really cheaped out and made it a terrible installation experience.

Doesn’t Support Apple HomeKit
This is the worst product made by Phillips Hue. I want to know who decided in their Phillips executive meetings to STOP supporting Apple HomeKit after over a decade of encouraging their customers to use HomeKit! The worst idea ever! And I know they’re going to say that it’s made for the new Phillips Hue Bridge. But my old one works and you should always think of backward compatibility. Now I have to watch for Phillips hue products to see if they support HomeKit.
