Q: Can I fuse the seams with a hot iron ?

You could probably crease the seams to lay flat with a WARM iron. But I would NOT try using a HOT iron for any reason as it would melt the material too easily and, thus, weaken or destroy it.

Q: can this be used to make horse fly masks?

I think so. The material is fairly smooth and tightly woven.

Q: Is this material strong enough to replace a raised dog bed mesh?

I would think so. My friend weighs 285 and it hold him when he sits in the chair.

Q: I plan to replace torn seats of old patio sling chairs but I don’t have a sewing machine to stitch the edges of the fabric. Can I just hand-sew them?

You could. It folds nicely and I used straight pins to hold it in place while I sewed it. You'd have to put in 2 or 3 lines of stitching ,I would think, to hold it tight. Once you get it installed, the stitching holds a lot of pressure. Worked good to replace our sling chair fabric. It is very see through...much more than our old fabric.
