Love these, but unfortunatley they shipped the wrong size.
These are amazing, but I was shipped the 7x10 version which is too big. Not worth a return and I don't want to re-order so I guess I have big notebooks now?

Wunderkind
I have been a longtime Moleskine fan, but their recent (lack of) quality has left me unhappy with Moleskines. I've tried a few others from Amazon that claimed to be higher quality paper, all of which left me disappointed and out $10 to $20 a pop. I was about to give up hope when I ordered these.(Disclaimer: this was absolutely NOT sponsored, nor did I receive this product on any sort of a discount. I didn't know that it's possible to wax poetic about a notebook until this showed up at my door, but Northbooks does, indeed, inspire that.)I can't emphasize enough how great these notebooks are. They're the kind of notebook that makes me want to fill them up. It's a really satisfying notebook experience. If that sounds weird, you obviously haven't met your notebook soul mate yet.The paper's definitely thick enough to prevent bleed through. Ghosting is so minimal, you really have to look for it to notice it. I've only tried some generic 0.4 microliners and the Uniball Air (my go to pen), but if the paper stands up to those, I'm sure it'll stand up to most everything else. You might have a problem with regular felt tips, but you need pretty heavy paper to avoid that. The binding is sturdy, BUT not as sturdy as other reviewers have claimed. I did break the spine on the second page in of my first notebook because the reviews made this notebook sound like it's made from steel. It is not. You will break the binding if you act like it's indestructible. That said, I do think this will be sturdier than a Moleskine cahier, which is the most similar notebook I've used recently (though it uses a different binding system). In a direct comparison to Moleskine, obviously you get more bang for your buck, page wise. Northbooks also has thicker paper and a sturdier cover. The lines are crisper with Northbooks. This paper doesn't have any sort of shine to it, so gel type pens don't sit on the paper for a moment before sinking in. In fact, I just realized this, but going back through my notebook for the last few weeks, I don't have any feathering or smudges *at all.* I usually get some when using a ruler with my Uniball Air, but I can't see a single one. It's kind of mind blowing for a stationery nerd like myself.I don't know. I just really love these little notebooks. This will be my go to for the foreseeable future, and gladly so!

Simple Flexible and Durable
I use these as my "external brain" at work for meeting notes and making sure my muscle memory captures things I would forget if I just typed them in. This meant my requirements were dot grid (for dot style journaling), softcover, good paper and hold together well.I tried out several other notebooks from other companies before settling on this one for this purpose. The cardboard cover holds together well and lays flat when I want it to. The spine is wide enough for me to label them when I've filled them also which is pretty handy. The dot-grid is a good size for me and quite unobtrusive but visible enough to help me keep my usually messy handwriting in check. There is some bleed through but it's not excessive and would only be a problem if I used this as a sketchbook. The last few pages are also perforated so that they are easy to tear out when someone asks for an extra piece of paper. Finally, I have to carry this thing all around work all day so it's nice that it fits in my back jean pocket. It's flexibility means it does this without being uncomfortable although I think this would likely be true of most notebooks like this.Northbook's branding/dot-grid indication on the front page is simple and sparse like I prefer. The back page has their URL etc.. and while it's not a big deal I would prefer to see that inside the back cover since I like to make my notebooks "mine". If Northbook offered a totally unbranded option I'd actually LOVE THAT and use them exclusively.

High quality at a great price
I was needing a replacement notebook to fit into a cute Mara Mi journal cover I have and love. But when I started looking for a notebook that would fit the 5 x 8 inch cover, I couldn't find one anywhere. Most journals are 8.25 x 5 inches, and that quarter of an inch makes them just a little too big. I was wary of the Northbook journal because the price was so reasonable and they made claims about high quality paper. But the reviews backed them up, so I took a chance. I am so happy to report that the notebook size is indeed exactly 5 x 8 inches and they fit perfectly into my cover. Also, the quality of the journal is quite good. The paper is nice and thick (and made from recycled material!). I experienced very little ghosting (like practically none) using mostly a Micron plastic nub pen. I also experimented with a Pilot G2 pen and Pilot V Razor point which is prone to ghosting with thinner paper and again, minimal ghosting. The cover is a neutral brown-paper-bag color and quite understated. So if you are looking for something more eye-catching you may find it too plain. However, it also presents an opportunity for you artists out there to create your own beautiful cover. Since I was putting the notebook into a cover, this was a non-issue for me. Plus, I quite like the neutral look of it.Overall, I would definitely order again and highly recommend. Good job, Northbooks!

Lovely set of note books
I was looking for a set of environmentaly friendly notes books without a plastic front cover. They are yet to be opened as they are a present. I would have given 5 but they came shrink wrapped.
