Top quality desk mic
This is a very-well-made desk microphone that is wire for the Icom brand of radio transceivers. I get good reports on its sound from others on the air. It has a PTT push switch and a PTT lock-on switch. It also has a button to activate its low-cut filter, and two buttons for shifting up and down the radio's frequency setting. It is spendy, but most assuredly worth it!Highly recommended !

As good as could be expected.
I wanted a new microphone to go with my new IC-7300. I had been using my IC-SM6 that came with my IC-745 from many years ago. The SM-50 works wonderfully. I had to turn down the mic gain on the radio and even the compression. Also, I adjusted the TX treble higher and the bass lower, since I was getting reports of it sounding a little bassy. All reports so far are that it is very, clean and intelligible, which was my desire. And I love that the price is a significant discount from those I found on the typical retailers.

Great value
Using this on my Icom ic-7300. Works great getting good replies about the audio quality. Easy to setup and use. Gain on the microphone comes set to max and I am running the gain on the radio at 50%. The price is great on Amazon compared to all other sites I looked at.

Fantastic Microphone On IC-7100
This microphone has gotten me more unsolicited comments about my outstanding audio than any other I've used. On the 7100 I have the preamp just barely opened. The settings on the rig are 15% compression with the gain set to 16 on SSB. On FM I have the gain set to 14.My ALC is in the perfect range and it drives my Alpha 76a perfectly. With these settings on 20m I use 50w of power and output just above a kilowatt. Also for whatever reason Amazon has this microphone for half the price of anywhere else. For example DX Engineering sells it for $335.00.

Great performing microphone
. have had the Icom SM 50 microphone for about 6 weeks and have spoken to several European, Australian, Caribbean Islands and US cities all over. The results with this microphone have been very satisfactory regarding clarity, tone and loudness. Some of the people I speak to regularly have said that the microphone delivers a studio quality sound. I am pleased with my purchase. The microphone is connected to an Icom 7300 radio which transmits through a 3 element V quad antenna.

Amazing Microphone!
This microphone is ridiculous! All my previous radios have been Yaesu. Well, after buying an IC-7610, I figured I should have this microphone to go with it, and I am not at all disappointed. The audio quality is absolutely amazing. AM sounds like you're in a broadcast studio, and with the right settings on the radio, this thing cuts through to reach the DX and in contests like nobody's business. I consistently (no joke 90% of the time) receive unsolicited audio reports with how great my radio sounds. One contact recently in New York (I'm in California) said I sounded louder than the locals, that if he didn't know, I could have been sitting right next to him in his shack.

Very nice
This is a really nice mic. I have tried a few others out there and the Icom mic is worth its cost.

Why did I wait so long?
Here is my sequence of events with this microphone:1. Open box2. Remove microphone3. Plug into transceiver4. Begin hearing, "Wow great signal" or similar words.Although I'm not much of a phone guy, being 95% CW, I do check into some SSB nets and after using the ugly little hand mic for so long, this new SM-50 is just a blessing. Well worth the money!
