Is there a base for this, that would allow me to move this from vehicle to vehicle for my work?

We don't have the base as you said. If you want to move this compass ball from vehicle to another, you should prepare a piece of double-sided tape by yourself, clean the bottom of the removed compass ball and glue it to the new double-sided tape.
