What's the benefit of this toulene free version vs non toulene free if the smell is still just aa toxic?

Although a mask should be worn when using any contact cement some people don't and this is just one less VOC to inhale.

What is the difference between this version and the all purpose that comes in a yellow can? And which one is better for adhering leather to rubber?

The blue does not contain toluene which is a toxic chemical and not healthy to inhale. The yellow does. This one is safer. Otherwise they are both the same as far as an adhesive goes.

It's cheaper per ounce than small tubes but only if it doesn't harden. Does this dry out after a perid of time in storage?

Not in my experience. As long as you close if between projects it stays good. Eventually the cap will get gooped-glued shut but I just use a wrench to open it. Totally worth buying the bigger size.

How quickly does it dry

As stated on the can: DRY TIME: 10-15 Min. OPEN TIME: Up to 4 Hours. This is a cement that contains a solvent which disperses with air. The highest strength bond is attained when all the solvent has dissipated. The sooner you place the mating surfaces together after applying the cement, the longer it usually takes for all the solvent to dissipate (depending on types of materials are being bonded). I have seen a recommendation when gluing shoes, to let the cement bond set 12-24 hrs before using the shoes (to allow the solvent to dissipate and attain the strongest bond).

WORTH EVERY DIME & WORKS EVERY TIME

This stuff is amazing. I've used it on cardboard, aluminum sheeting, foam, fabrics and yes, even shoes and nothing I've encountered performs like this product. From large areas of vinyl to binding very small sho repairs where neoprene meets rubbed. I'm kind of an adhesive nut and I'm always trying new stuff and this stuff is amazing. Follow the directions. Especially for drying and bonding. I generally use wood clamps or a rubber mallet. It's worth every dime and works every time.

Not new, looks used

This item was not new. It was used and container was opened. Liquid spilled over which can cause more damage to the remaining liquid. Can’t return it so I guess now I cant use it.
