wake call for me. BEST READ EVER!!!
This is unbelievable! But true. there was so much information in this book that I had to highlight most of it. Today is the day to try out the detox and see for myself.July 25, began detox 5 days ago. I feel great but you must read the whole book first as I did not realize that eating a whole apple a day would keep me from dropping weight. So I will be continuing the detox for another 10 days (as per the Doc) and then the rest of my life. I love feeling this way and I never want to go back to way I was before.

Easy to Follow
I like that the book is so easy to follow and VERY informative. It has remarks throughout the book from people who are already on the Wheat Free diet. This is helpful to know how the diet is affecting them. All in all they gave very positive feedback. There are recipes too. Dr. Davis is very informative and explains everything in detail.

no more hunger pangs and mood swings
I wish I can give this book 10 starts the book is simple and the diet is easy to follow you just need to organize your kitchen , I have 2 daughters, a husband and 3 dogs I look at the other reviews and I didn't find the recepies hard to follow. I have been on the roller coaster for years now losing weight and gaining back the same weight and sometimes more top that with menopause and mood swings,anxiety and thyroid problems ,chronic pain on my Lower back and knees. I start this detox with caution because I have been on other detox diets that only worked for a while(when you are 210 pounds you try everything ) low carb,high carb no meat 1year vegetarian nothing plenty of exercise.lost 10pounds gaming 10 back depressed for the lack of progress went to Colombia and stay there for a month my depression lifted and my body pains went away Ithought that it was strange but because the weather is very hot 98f at list help with the pain in my body long story short got back to the US and a week later my pain was back so I start thinking what I did different and it was the food in my mothers house they don't eat any grain and the only carbs are coming from root vegetables yucca potatoes yams etcetera.So I got this book and oh boy the first 3 days were bad brain fog ,headaches.nose dripping after the 4 day start felling better and by day 10 I was feeling fantastic no anxiety no body pain no back pain no more mood swings I woke up every day and I was felling happy and the best part my weight was melting my belly went down so much is barely noticeable and I went down 1 size of my breast and my hips I love it .thanks to This book I have my old self back again I will keep posting when I get to my regular weight .

Really nice recipes, good resource
I am a fan of the original work, so when this came out, I thought I'd try it. I think the recipes are really quite good overall. Ok, a bit of an adjustment from what one might normally make....but not difficult and really quite tasty. I will say, the portions are way too big unless you're a family all eating it...so think about the volume that will come out of each one and think about halving or even quartering the recipes and/or having serious leftovers! I lost a few pounds and then found myself in a carb craving late in the evening and it was all over! LOL Even so, I still love many of the smoothie recipes, the magnesium water is brilliant, and introduction to things like zoodles! Definitely recommended!

Dr. William Davis another book
My husband and I read this book but I tried what he says to do in the book. I wasn't losing weight from his other books and recipes, I felt better but this book was supposed to help with the folks who don't lose the weight.. I give this a 2 star really, once I read it and tried it I haven't looked at the book due to zero results. Maybe you'll have better results.

Great information. I feel so much better since changing my eating habits and eliminating wheat from my diet. The arthritis in my knee has prevented me from doing outside chores and even walking some days. Now that I have changed my eating habits, the inflammation in my knee has decreased significantly and I am once again working outside almost pain free. I can follow these principles forever if it means living a fuller life. I wish the assortment of medical specialists that I have spent thousands of dollars visiting would have shared this information with me instead of recommending medication, which I no longer need, except on a rare occasion. It has helped me learn to heal my own body in a healthy and sustainable manner. This is a life changer for me.

I Highly Recommend This Detox As the Best Way to Start This Diet.
This diet works really well, and the 10-day detox is a great way to start. I would certainly recommend buying of all Dr. Davis' books and cookbooks. However, for your own safety please talk to your primary care physician first. And if you are a diabetic, consult with your endocrinologist as well. Most of the meals are limited to about 15 grams of net carbs (total carb grams minus fiber grams),. This applies to both types of diabetes. You may need to add more fruit to your diet after you finish the detox period.Also, if you have religious-based dietary restriction, you may need to modify the recipes accordingly.We began our detox 41 days ago, after our doctors approved. Where I used to way 200-210 before the diet, I have lost about 20 lbs and now weigh about 180 pounds, my weight in high school. I am learning to cook better meals for my wife and myself, and while the grains are gone, we still get meat, eggs, dairy, veggies, nuts and seeds. IT WORKS!

This book came at the right time for me. Terrific.
This book is what I needed. I read dr. Davis' book wheat belly, six years ago. I knew it to be true. I wasn't ready. I couldn't give up wheat - cake, pie, bread etc. It has taken me years to get ready mentally. When I saw this book I knew I could do it. I've just finished the ten day detox and feel fabulous. No more acid reflux, lost pounds, have more energy and it's only been ten days. I wonder what six months will feel like. :)

Not really realistic to follow long-term
The author promises you won't be hungry, and that you will feel great, more alert (after feeling awful for some days in the transition phase). Besides all the benefits of lowering triglycerides etc. I bought this book since I wanted to try out a different diet which wouldn't leave me hungry all the time. I also didn't want a diet that relied too heavily on animal protein. Well, what I can say after trying it out for around 7 days:- preparing (for) it takes a huge amount of time: the ingredients are not easy to find, and the book is not organised to easy the process for you, you have to calculate by yourself how much of each ingredient you need to buy for the sum of the 10 days, and then hunt for it in different places.- it's really expensive: besides being hard to find, some ingredients are really expensive, like almond flour. So this diet is not for everybody.- it's not really very tasty: even though the author says everything is so delicious, it's not. Much of the food is passable if you're a tolerant person, a lot of the recipes have too much coconut on it, after some days you can't even smell coconut anymore, which brings me back to the good point...- yes, if you manage to eat his suggestions, all the nut and oil in the fool will really fill you up and you won't be hungry at all... also it may be you get so nauseated by the thick nutty-coconut food, the idea of eating makes you cringe. Both of which kind of fits the purpose.- I found the shakes he proposes hard to swallow.I quickly realised I won't be able or willing to follow this diet. I did lose almost 2 kg in one week though. So I was mainly thinking I'd have to adapt it to have less coconut and just make it simpler. However, researching a bit more on healthy diets, it does not seem that all the oil he claims is beneficial is indeed so. All nutrition research points to vegetarian/starch no fat no meat diet. Which means I'm unsure and now I will try to merge this grain/nut thing into a vegetarian low fat diet. In the end, it's a confusing state of affairs, this nutrition and health.

10 Day Detox a Hit!
I have read Wheat Belly and Wheat Belly Total Health. This just makes for a much easier read for those not interested in the science behind this. And the meal plan is all laid out so it's extremely easy for anyone wanting to follow this WOE.

A great read
I'm very glad I read this book and I followed the detox exactly as the author prescribed it.The pros:-I feel great, my sleep has improved and my clothes are looser fitting after the 10 days-After only the third day, I started getting a lot of complements on my skin tone. Coworkers were inquiring if I had been on vacation.-No digestive upset-I never felt deprived or like I was missing out on anything and I didn't want to cheat once because I never wanted for anything else.-All of the meals are very fillingThe cons:-A significant amount of time and commitment is required to make all the meals as the author outlines them. I had someone at home slaving away all day to make these meals for me, and I have no idea how a single person could handle all of it while working full time. They would either have to batch cook on Sunday's or stay a day ahead and spend their evenings cooking.-The recipes were really hit and miss. The cream of broccoli soup and focaccia bread were really flavorful but the meatloaf and meatballs were absolutely bland and tasteless.In conclusion, I will continue to follow the 10 day detox guidelines for eating for the rest of my life, and feel good doing it.
