Exceptionally good translation.
I bought this primarily on a lark and was surprised and overwhelmed by just how good this translation really is. As with many, I was raised on the King James version, and it is the source for most of the verses I have memorized. These days I use the ESV and NASB for most of my daily reading and study, and I’ve never really been able to embrace the NKJV because it seems “awkward” to me. In my non-expert opinion this version really bridges the the gap between the King James and what many of the more “modern” translations/versions are attempting to achieve. I am delightedly impressed. Additionally, this Bible has what may be the best book introductions I’ve ever read. They are brief, thorough, and illuminating. My only “ding” is that it isn’t offered in a genuine leather, but the positives far outweigh this minor issue, and the construction quality seems excellent. It is a shame that this translation is not more widely known and embraced.

Great Reference Bible
I love the centre line down each page, with scripture references. The text itself is clean and easy to read and the size of the Bible is good too. And to have the MEV in print is fantastic. For all those people searching for a faithful, updated King James Bible, this is it! It should be called the QE2 Bible 😂 Do have a look and compare (perhaps the gospels) with the NIV or similar, and make your own choice. There are so MANY deliberately misleading changes in so many modern versions, compared with only a few genuine errors in the MEV! The MEV goes back to the Authorised King James Version and faithfully updates it. If you look at Westcott and Hort's 'Magic Marker Binge' you can compare the MEV to the AKJV, verse by verse, and the MEV proves to be faithful to the AKJV in all but a couple of instances. av1611.com/kjbp/charts/themagicmarker.html The reason for the differences, for those who like to do their research, is that the AKJV comes from Textus Receptus - the original version of the NT. But many modern versions come from the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus (sp?) interpretations, that were made in Alexandria, and we even see the new KJV versions suffering. Alexandria was the centre of all efforts to try and 'paganise' the new Christian religion, by making it more palatable to Greek pagan customs and "small g gods" worshipping practices. We obviously want the one that is closest to the perfect Word of God, and the MEV does a better job than any other version I've seen, apart from the AKJV. The MEV modernises, without cost to the original intent of the AKJV words.

Great Translation - Thorough Review
Overall I really like the MEV translation and would purchase a high-quality binding and printing if available. Anyone who wants a translation from the TR or wants a modern rendering of the KJV bible should be pleased. The Translation: The MEV is a modern literal translation of the Greek and Hebrew used to originally produce the KJV. It does this well. The MEV seeks to follow the speech patterns and general flow of the KJV. It does this well. Reading this translation has a familiar yet clear feeling which I believe surpasses the ESV. It is closer to the KJV readings then the ESV, yet uses clear language for the modern reader. As a Greek reader I can tell you it is actually CLOSER TO A LITERAL TRANSLATION OF THE ORIGINAL LANGUAGE THAN THE AUTHORIZED VERSION. I also find it to be a translation which remains quite neutral in it’s renderings. Meaning it seeks to leave ambiguity where it is present in the original more often than most. If something could be understood two different ways, it leaves it up to the reader to make the final decision. This is a good thing! The sentence structures are often very complex and sometimes do not resemble modern English. To Illustrate here is Romans 8:3-4. “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and concerning sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” That’s one amazingly long sentence with at least seven thoughts in it. Even the KJV and NKJV use a semicolon to bring a pause to the reader. More dynamic translations break it into a couple of sentences. Doing it the way the MEV has allows the reader more leeway in determining where emphasis should be and is more literal. It also makes for a complicated sentence. I think the positives outweigh the negatives here, but you should know you are not getting the KJV Living Bible if you purchase this. It’s modern language at an upper reading level. The Binding: Normal for this price range, I think. Honestly it’s been ages since I spent this little on a Bible. Yes, I’m a Bible snob. It’s a deep red synthetic cover with a leathery grain interrupted by a decorative vertical stripe of ribbony decoration. Feels like rubber to me and seems like a, “value” level material, but looks like it will last long enough to meet expectations. No apparent physical flaws in my copy. Print has some variations in imprint darkness but is not terribly distracting. Red letters in the lighter sections are yuck. But honestly, it’s about like your average bible. Overall it’s a fine reading experience and the font is clear and compact. I’m guessing the font is 8pt or less but is clear and easily read. This bible is LINE MATCHED and has average thickness paper for a thin-line. That means ghosting is not too distracting in my opinion. They did well here. References are pretty much the minimum possible. Most verses get one or sometimes two references which are not linked to any particular part of the verse. In a bible like this, a better choice would have been to just have a text bible and make the font a point bigger. In a larger bible where a person would actually use references for study there needs to be a more robust system set up with a lot more references. All said and done, this is a pleasure to read and a great translation. I’m glad I have a copy of the MEV.

A Beautiful Bible, Inside and Out
A beautiful and well bound Bible, and the translation is the best of all that I own. It is poetic while being accurate in it's rendering of word translations. I was very pleased to see the word 'subtle' used to describe the serpent in Genesis 3:1, which (in my opinion) has been watered down in other translations. I would have to agree with the MEV website's summary of this version: clear, reverent, accurate. The print is (necessarily) small to accomodate the thinline format so make sure your eyes are good or tune up your bifocal!

Modern English Version Bible
We're all use to new bible versions constantly being released by now, with each and every one claiming to have something that no previous translation has, and yet, upon scrutiny, they inevitably disappoint in one way or another, and so you return once again to your king King James bible. But, if you're someone who loves and appreciates the king James version but would like reading it in updated English, then this is truly a modern translation that won't disappoint you. For one thing, it is translated from the Text us Receptus, which means no words or whole sentences are missing like they are in almost all modern versions translated from the older and fewer minority and critical texts, at least from what I've seen so far. This may very well be the modern Bible, that if possible, will replace the king James version for a new generation of Bible readers, as well as satisfy all us older folk that grew up with the KJV who would like to read the Bible in more modern English. This Bible makes no compromises and I highly recommend it. I can't wait for it to released in larger or giant print.

Translation Needs Work. Great Quality material.
Compared to the NKJV this is a more modern translational making it easier to read, however there are several verses that the NKJV renders better: Philippians 2:6 1 Corinthians 15:3 2 Thessalonians 2:13 Titus 3:5 There is a clear translations error in Ezekiel 16:49 that needs to be corrected. Sodom did not feed the poor but this bible said she did. If these verses were fixed/rendered better this would easily be a 5 star bible. The quality of the material the Bible has is amazing. Probably the best feeling bible in this price range. A smooth/glossy leatherlike cover, pages are a soft white and books are easy to navigate. Pages have a gold foil guilding on them which is beautiful.

Perfect size for easy carrying!
I've had this exact same bible but in larger print and I love how easy it is to read and how easily I can understand the wording! I recently ordered this regular sized print as a gift and I love the size of this bible so much! It's the same size as my larger print bible but this bible is so much lighter and skinnier in thickness! Definitely good for keeping in the car or in your bag. And the price of this one is so much cheaper! I will be ordering more to hand out!

The scholars that have taken the time to sit down and put things in a better prospective for us
A new source of information concerning Gods Word is found within the pages of this book, I can fully understand the clear and precise message that comes through in the updated version of the Bible. The scholars that have taken the time to sit down and put things in a better prospective for us , have done a great job setting Gods Word on paper. I hope and pray others will get this book if they are having trouble with their understanding, actually ask GOD first then get this book!! Leonard Taylor

Holy Bible
Really nice Bible. The content is the most important part - and that is Gods Word. The translation team have done a great job in bringing this word for word translation out with language that is easy to read / understand. I was impressed with the quality of the cover, paper, gilded edges and layout also. Very pleased with my purchase. I pray it will be used to bring glory to God and would accomplish His will.
