Good Quality Clay Working Tool Set
I needed a "beginners" tool set for a clay working class. I looked at many of the sets available on Amazon and settled on this set because it was a reasonable price for the number of tools received. Also, based on reviews of other sets, one of the things that sold me on this set was that most of the pieces were finished/stained (many of the other sets I looked at are unfinished wood). When I showed the set to my instructors, they were impressed with the quality, and when I told them how much I paid, they agreed $19.95 was a very good price. After spending a week working with the tools, I loved them. The only comment I have is that the clay cutting tool (the wire tied to two handles) is very sturdy, which is both good and bad: good when working with large, heavy pieces, but bad in that the wire is thick and when trying to cut delicate/thin pieces off the wheel, the wire was almost too thick, tearing the soft clay. To make this set perfect, it should have included a small sponge and a metal blade, two items that are needed when working with clay. So now I'll buy those separately.

Solid beginner's set of pottery tools, larger than Kemper set
I was looking for a set of pottery tools that looked nice AND performed well. These do the job nicely for a beginner. The ribs, wooden knife, wooden modeling tools, and wire tool are larger than the usual pieces that come in a starting set. I was worried they might be too large, but actually I quite like the grip they allow, especially the wire tool! Both the wooden ends and wire itself are thicker/larger, so it's much more comfortable to hold and to wrap the wire around your fingers (and doesn't distort the wire!). I've had no issues with the wire cutting through the bottom of a piece as long as I leave an appropriate base thickness. My only complaints are that I can wiggle one of the trimming tool (the smaller one) ends a little, and I anticipate having to super glue it back on later. No problem trimming with this tool itself, with proper support, it shouldn't wiggle anyway. The larger trimming tool, the triangle loop end is not level but it is sturdy. I haven't tried the brushes but they look like they will shed - still useful for applying wax resist though....probably...

Perfect for Beginning & Intermediate
I think the value of pottery tools really is in the eyes and hands of the artist. I personally do not use tools a whole lot but for connecting pieces and shaping or scraping insides or very rounded areas, or for detail work, they are a must. I loved that, first of all, these come in a carrying case. I try to keep neat and tidy and any sort of case at all is helpful. I can slide them right back in. The handles are sturdy but lightweight for maneuvering in tight spaces. The metal doesn't move around inside the handle and risk popping out. The variety of tools and options was awesome. For the price, I just don't think you can get anything better. This is really quality tools, with a case. Again, depending on your needs you may need something more expensive or more specified. For a general tool set, this is perfect.

Just Awful
Very disappointing. I generally do not have time to write reviews but this set of tools is simply awful. The cutting tools are falling apart (as in the metal part completely detaching from the wood) and rusting after one use. The brushes leave hair all over and The wood cover for the pin tool stained my hands. This is supposed to be a pottery tool set so by definition it will get wet. I take time to clean and dry my tools after each use so there is no reason this should be happening. Just awful.

Great Set
This is my go to tool set. I use it in my class every time and I really like it. The quality is very good and the price was excellent. The quality is better than what you find in hobby stores and the price was better than what my local pottery suppliers are willing to sell for. The cutoff wire is really good because the toggle handles are big. It makes it much more comfortable to hold.

Good quality set
This is a good pottery set for the price. I will use all. The only thing is that everything is really big.

big tools
the tools are a lot longer than the usual... the metal used is already getting dull after only a few months - it is easy to sharpen the edges with a file though. if you work on large pieces, this set is good, but i find the trimming tools not useful on finer pieces. Overall the tools are not of the highest quality, but it's not a bad set to get if you're just starting out in clay...

Great tool set for beginner or experienced potter.
This is a really nice sturdy tool set. It had every tool that I needed at the moment. They should last a very long time. Would definitely buy them again. If you are a beginner or a seasoned potter, this is the tool set for you. Fast delivery, and the plastic box they come in is not flimsy, I am using that too.
