Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 Metal Detector

I am new to the metal detecting game and searched out reviews for several metal detectors (MD). I was torn between the Garrett ACE 350 ( Garrett Ace 350 Metal Detector ) and the Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300. I was looking for a decently priced (MD) for the beginner. The (MD) came very well packed. It was packed inside a box which was inside a larger box. The unit was very easy to assemble. As always, it is very important to read and follow the instructions before using the product it is easy enough to understand. I have been using this (MD) for a short time now and I am very impressed. It seems to pick up very well and the pinpointing feature comes in very useful. I can locate an object within just a couple of inches (3 inches at the most) of where the (MD) tells me where it is located. I use small survey flags to mark my spots before I start to dig and start my digging just outside the flag post. The pinpointing feature saves on a lot of digging and time, trust me on that one. I also purchased the Garrett Pin-pointer ( Garrett Pro-Pointer ) to assist me even further, which saves even more time locating your treasure. With the Garrett Pin-pointer, you don't even have to dig a full hole around the area (flag) most of the time. Just bury the head of your spade a couple of inches away from the flag, lift the ground some and put the Garrett Pin-pointer into the area underneath (of course I have to remove the flag 1st as my flag posts are metal) and if the object is not too deep, you can remove it without digging a full hole. I have only used the (MD) in grassy areas and not in the mountains or beaches as of yet. As for the depth feature on the (MD), I find it very useful, but rarely accurate. On my (MD), the depth usually shows the object deeper than it really is, but I have learned in a short time to adjust for that and can usually figure out about how deep the object is before I start my dig. The (MD) can pick up objects buried deep into the ground (gone as deep as about 10" if not more). I also like the cancellation feature of the (MD). I can tune out iron or other objects if I wish, which comes in very handy in certain areas. The (MD) is light weight and easy to use. It seems to be well balanced and is height adjustable, so the tall and short (such as myself) can use the (MD) with comfort. The arm brace is also comfortable and well designed and helps from tiring out your arm for longer periods of use. I cannot compare this (MD) with others, as I have only used this one, but I believe that this is a well made (MD) and does a great job for the cost. I do not regret my purchase and would definitely recommend it to others.

This is by far the most amazing and awesome metal detector. I have found rings, coins, nuggets and junk!! It finds things even deeper then expected, mostly uads with a 4 inch gold coil , and I'm blown away. Found a 1931 rail road nail 2 foot down in hard compact soil among other thing's. That was My first find! Loving this thing. Truly impressed value with so many features and capabilities. If ur need a dependable metal detector for best value and upgrades.. this is it. There's a number of different coils as well. Highly recommend the 4inch coil

I've never used a metal detector before, so I have nothing to compare this unit with. That said, it was easy to put together and seems to locate metal pretty well. So why did I buy a metal detector you may ask? Well, I have a farm road and visitors were getting flat tires. We spent hours walking that road looking for what was damaging tires. Some vehicles had 2 flats... always on the drivers side. In frustration, I bought the metal detector. Oh the treasures it has found. Nails, springs, barbed wire, pieces of electric fencing, car parts, tractor parts, cans, and more. On day two, I found a piece of metal fence post with a sharp protrusion sticking up about 3 inches. The culprit was found. This jewel of a metal detector has paid for itself and the era of flat tires is ended. Now I look forward to getting out of this COVID-19 lockdown and perhaps spending some time with my grandson, searching for treasure. Oh, I do highly suggest getting one of the small metal detecting probes. They are extremely useful once you are digging and moving dirt around.

This metal detector is easy to use. I bought it for my 13 year old son for Christmas and found it to be usable right out of the box. I had watched some of the Youtube videos on this so was able to explain how everything worked. We did Christmas in FL this year so he got to try it out on the beach. Nothing of value there, but he did find a few small "treasures" that he added to a box of things he's keeping that he's found with the detector (who knew there are so many allen wrenches laying all over the place? We found two already). In our own backyard he found some coins, at least one of every denomination. This is lightweight and you can swing it for a long time. It has different tones for different types/sizes of metal objects it finds. I am going to install a fence in backyard, so used it to locate the surveyor pins that are located at the property corners, about 6 - 8 inches in the ground. Way cheaper than having the property resurveyed. Overall a great unit. I would buy this again and have no regrets about buying it.

Product came in great condition and time of delivery was right. Have used the Bounty Hunter 3300 in my yard and would never have believed how much metal is in it. Found everything from nails to coins and even what at first we couldn't identify a chunk of rusty square heavy metal object. After chipping away rust and corrosion found to be an old Craftsman steel tape measure. The unit is well designed and light weight has a very comfortable fit to arm as well as easy to adjust and use. Great fun at the beach and have found objects at 2ft. dept. I'm very happy with the service and product and would recommend this company and product to others.

First of all this is a great low price detector when it works as it should. But I went detecting and it was misty out. I know the box isn't waterproof but I figured the light mist was fine. About 20 minutes in it just shut off. When I turned it on it shut off after about two seconds. After a twenty minute drive home it worked in my yard. Tried again a week later and it worked for 15 minutes then shut off. It had new batteries in it. If I let it set for a couple minutes it works for another 10 to 15 minutes then shuts off again. I'm sure it's my fault, but I assumed it would be fine as it wasn't a heavy enough mist that would make me nervous about using my phone or anything else. If you purchase I wouldn't recommend using it in misty or foggy conditions. That alone eliminates many days of my free time to use it as I usually only get time off if it's damp out (I'm a custom combiner) but if that isn't a deal breaker then it's a great detector

Even though I’m not a Bounty Hunter fan, I picked up the 3300 because I liked the features and price. It quickly became my go to. I’m telling you, It is REALLY LIGHT! I can swing it for hours while snagging up the things my other “so called better banded” and WAY more expensive machines left behind. The recovery time isn’t as fast as some of my others, but hey, that was after the 3300 found what others left in the dirt. If you’re thinking about buying the Discovery 3300 better do it quick. The price is creeping up from the original $99 price tag they once had.

Nachdem ich im letzen Jahr für wenig Geld einen sehr schlechten Metalldetektor gekauft habe, war ich nun auf der Suche nach einem besseren Gerät. Trotzdem wollte ich nicht gerade 500€ ausgeben, so wie es in verschiedenen Foren empfohlen wird. Der Discovery 2200 ist ein stabiles Gerät und zeigt zuverlässig selbst kleinste Metallstücke in 20-30 cm Tiefe an. Der besondere Clou: Die Art und Tiefe der Metalle wird sehr zuverlässig angezeigt. Darüber hat der Detektor sinnvolle Funtionen, wie z.B. das Ausblenden von nicht erwünschten Metallen. Ich kann nur sagen, dass das Gerät mehr als überzeugt hat. Alle Funde wurden korrekt angezeigt, kleine, rostige Nägel in einer Tiefe von 30 cm problemlos erkannt und auch als Eisen angezeigt. Ich kann nur sagen, dass es sich nach meiner Meinung um eine professionelle Anwendung handelt. Der Unterschied zu wesentlich teureren Geräten liegt wahrscheinlich nur in der möglichen Suchtiefe... Würde den Detektor jederzeit wieder kaufen!

This is a great product for beginners as it is easy to use.

This is my first metal detector and I am very happy with it. It takes 9 volt batteries, but they seem to last quite a while. I purchased the metal detector for prospecting and so far so good. I haven't struck it rich or anything, but have had a little success in small quantities.

Good general detector information is key when detecting and BH 3300 gives you that with numerical display. Never did depth test but in the field it seemed ok first day out produced coins on a hunted out site where i had been with two other detectors of similar price and very light for long days out in the field i feel that slow and low works best with this detector very similar to the fisher f4 all in all not bad i would recommend anyone to do there homework when it comes to buying a detector in this price range and bare this one in mind.
