Excellent for intermediate user
I have tried other programs, some costing less or some costing more that are more complicated than VideoPad. The price of NCH programs is affordable compared to others and customer service is superb. It does require some learning but that is to be expected with any technical program. An upgrade for existing customers is about $12, which is minimal. A company cannot update as technology evolves and survive by offering freebies. I do not agree with people complaining about cost or functionality. Any other program with more features will be a lot more complicated to use and be more costly. It has now been my preferred program for several years as a non-professional photographer.

MORE COMPLICATED SOFTWARE THAN NECESSARY
This software is VERY complicated but it is my last chance to make a move of my vacation images. The pan and zoom is so complicated that I doubt I will be able to use it. I read the tutorial on pan and zoom and they lost me completely. Are they kidding???? You have to be a mathematician to understand this overly technical jargon! Other software is so much easier to use. The time you have to put in to get somewhere with VideoPad is a lot. I hope that at the end of this I will be able to burn a playable DVD to treasure my trip. Other software since the demise of Movie Maker, have failed at the end when you are ready to burn a copy to DVD. I hope this is not the case with VideoPad. Good luck. Well, I am DONE with this software!!! I called for technical help because, after a whole evening of adding more images to my movie, I found that the front end of the movie was chopped into pieces. This software is UNSTABLE and way too complicated for anyone to get anywhere. Don't waste your time or money with this piece of garbage! The tech caused me to get into a situation that would further chop up my movie and he told me. 'we don't have the time to tutor our clients with BASIC levels like this?'. Basic levels???? They are selling incompetent software and try to turn it around and out it on the customer. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and AVOID THIS PRODUCT!

It's decent video editing software, however, they charge for version updates
I like using their software. Pretty easy to use and is ok for editing. Biggest downside is greed. They charge for version updates. They send you misleading popups when you finish using their software to update it, then, when you update it, you are directed to enter your registration key/serial number. If you go from V8.04 to 10.??? they expect you to spend another 50 bucks for the update. This practice IMO is greedy and nearly as bad as subscription based software. If you download this software and decide to buy it, make sure you create a backup of the version you purchase. If you update it on their website, be prepared to pay for the software again. The practice alone has me looking for a different software provider. I will not submit to greed. Sorry, not sorry.

VideoPad is an Exceptional Value
I've been using VideoPad on and off now for several years. I am very satisfied with the performance of this software when it comes to very basic to intermediate editing capabilities. I believe it is superior to Corel's Pinnacle Studio and far more intuitive as an application. Pinnacle is more costly. Does it compete with Adobe Premiere Pro? Absolutely not, but it keeps getting better and better. And, for the price, it is a gem of a video editing application. It may be a little too complex for those seeking to do the most minimal video edit, and not worth the learning curve. For those who seriously want to get into video editing, it is a great program to get them out of the gate, and quite a ways down the road. As these editors gain confidence and experience, and want to accomplish more intricate video processing, they may choose to move up to an application geared more toward the professional video editor. I highly recommend VideoPad to anyone starting out and at an intermediate level. My only con regarding the use of VideoPad is the lack of training material. The company, NCH Software puts out quite a few video tutorials geared toward the entry level editor. And, those will get you started, but these videos do not explore the features available in much depth. Their Help manual is all text and non-searchable. Although I have to say, when I could not find answer to my query in the Help manual, a quick email to the support (for VideoPad) usually got me the answer relatively quickly. Another caveat, the knowledge, or at least the ability to impart knowledge, of the support personnel can vary. Most cover the answer to your query thoroughly, some seem to favor brevity.

This product is a lot of freeware collected together on a disk and sold for $60. It isnt worth the plastic its made from because all the garbage on it set off warnings from AVG that there were viruses (Thank god I had protection) the product is fraudulent and its going back to the Chinaman that sold it to me!
