Alumilite 10570 Amazing Mold Putty Kit, 0.66-Pound

Amazing Mold Putty is totally a game-changer for me. For prototyping I would make some Proto Putty (poor-man's DIY silicone putty) and that was a complete joke next to working with this! No stink, no gloves, longer work time and arguably a thousand times better all-around experience. Although I had some sticker shock initially, I very quickly came to realize that this stuff is definitely worth twenty clams, and then some (but please don't raise your price Alumilite!). And I was astonished by how well it bonds to itself! You can add to things with ease afterward. I absolutely love it! It truly is amazing. However, Alumilite really, REALLY needs to start putting (non-permanent) tape on the caps to keep them sealed before shipping. I have bought two now, and one time Part B cap was open and the other time both were open. I suspect that this happens when they toss them in the box, because the shape of the caps can get caught on the box's top edge as it is going into the box. Fortunately, they did not appear to dry out at all.. but regardless this should be fixed for sure. Otherwise I am completely thrilled with Mold Putty!

I had to fill a big gap in a table I was refinishing and someone in my furniture group recommended this stuff. It was a life saver! It is so easy to use by mixing the two together and it dries quickly. My only comment is it was a wee bit hard to sand but once it was primed and painted- no one could tell there was any work done. I would hesitate to use on a piece I wasn’t painting but that is due to my lack of experience.

This stuff is fantastic! One of the containers had popped open during shipping, but since it did not mix with the other container contents, it did not adversely affect the product. It was easy to use, a little more pliable than silly putty, and easy to mix together in the given amount of time. It released from the unfinished wood model that I used (which I had been concerned about, since I didn't use a mold release.) I left it on the model for twenty minutes, as instructed. No problems! I'm using it to make cookie molds and it is genius! I've had an interest in mold making for years, and would have loved to find this product long ago, as it would have saved me many hours of frustration. This will be a repeat purchase item, for sure.

This stuff is no joke. It works very well-far better than the Sculpey mold maker. It creates a clean, flexible mold, that produces clean, crisp clay imprints. The Sculpey molds require baking to solidify, and they definitely harden over time. I have some only 3 months old, and they are rock-hard. My first issue with this mold putty is, my box arrived open. The outside package showed no indications of having been dropped or stepped on. It was packed in a padded envelope, which was part of the problem. However, the contents of BOTH canisters had oozed out into the box, which was completely open. Is it always delivered in that state? Who thought that was a good packing procedure? As for the product, itself, it set up WAY faster than 3 minutes. The instructions say sets in up to 3 minutes. That's an exaggeration. In about a minute, the putty started to become harder to work--like malleable foam. I barely had time to get the amount I wanted blended, and the item pressed into it. So, I like it a lot for the nice mold it produces, but holy organization and timing! Have your things out and ready to go, immediately, to make the impression. Also, it seems to work best with small items. If you had to mold a larger item, there's no way you'd have it blended and pressed out in time. I noticed that it is hard to get creases out of it. I attempted to smooth them out, and no-go. The putty doesn't respond the way clay does, and there's really no time to be that picky, anyway. I don't know how people use this product to get those smooth-edged molds. I tried, and no banana. If you're OK with speed-mold making smaller molds, this stuff creates an awesome mold. If you move a bit slower, you might explore other options.

The product itself is great but I think I got a repackaged return. The first box I got, one of the tubes exploded and leaked all inside (pic 1). I submitted for a replacement of damaged product and before I was even able to send the first one back, got a replacement in the same condition (pic 2). I gave up and decided to order direct from the manufacturer and it came to me fully intac. I can see there is a slim foam block to make sure the lids didn't pop off was in this box and not the first two sent from Amazon (pics 3 and 4)

Mixing the two parts is really easy and straightforward. The results are great as well. Try not to make the molds too thick because it'll be harder to use them later. For the price you're paying you don't get a lot of material, so it's not really suitable for kids in my opinion - you don't have a lot of time to play with it - just 3 minutes including the mixing time, and no re-do's. So you can only make a few small molds and that is it.

I've never tried to make any molds before. So i was nervous to try, especially knowing the very short working time. I dont have a scale so i just eyeballed that A and B were the same amount and mixed best i could. Everything turned out perfect and i used it a bunch of times right away! I needed a mold for liquid clay so i needed a product that could be put in the oven. This is it! So far, its amazing.

Arrived in its box- both parts- one part was opened in box. Both were as if pushed up -there is air under each container. Im not for sure these are full. despite this- I was too excited to wait -return.....So I picked a few objects.....It is butter smooth- and It goes too fast! sure I get it mixed- quick as possible- twist smooch- fold twist...done/ then I start ROLLING the ball as directed/ Less then halfway it resists- becomes like an /soft gum eraser, and There is no real way to begin again! I then tried the GO THIN METHOD AS FAST AS POSSIBLE.... I end up wasting more then I have ever wasted on any stuff before-I hate to waste! I would only use this on small Ideas. and Find some other stuff to do other larger objects...Going Fast and thing- I get holes"leave Lines- and loose Detail. It makes Nice-detail- for small One Sided objects But 3 Min it is UNWORKABLE....THEREFOR THERE IS NO GOING BACK+ you waste! Every Thing has its pluses and so forth..... It has no bad odor- I have not poured -into my possibly workable molds yet. (very tiny) This company needs to take care- close the containers! Some one-machine is not working! One more point= It is very hard to Read the Containers.........and says on bottles- DO NOT GET IN EYES! so if a child uses....Please Take Care-maybe use gloves to remind them-not to put near eyes! lac

I haven't tried making moulds this way before and wasn't totally convinced that it would work. I am very happy to be proven wrong! Just follow the instructions. I know it sounds obvious, but really it does work and it works well. It isn't cheap, but so far I have made 3 small moulds (small ornament size, about 4cm long) and still have around 3/4 of the pack left. It sets perfectly, and is very easy to remove, just take your time with it and be gentle. Everything I have made has excellent detail. I have used good old plaster (the crafters type, mixed with water) and it's spot on. No hesitation giving 5 stars.
