Success rate
PICTURE WARNING - CAUGHT RATS I don’t normally do reviews however on this occasion I felt it important to do so because of the success rate. I have three of these traps in an area where there is “rat-traffic”. I know this because my spaniel is constantly sniffing intensely around the area. I use Aldi’s crunchy peanut butter (don’t know if that’s a bonus(!!). I also put a bit of peanut butter inside the tunnel area just before the trap. Definitely recommend following the really clear and simple instructions, as I believe that was a bonus. I actually left mine out for a just over a week, unset but with the bait in it so I could check the bait was being taken and I knew I had it in the right place. I have had three traps down for 6 weeks now and I have caught 13 in total, 3 big ones, and 10 smaller ones, which I think are the juniors. All defo rats not mice. The traps are humane, there is no blood/guts when you release the trap. I actually poked my finger in a set trap (no rat) and I caught my finger in it. It didn’t cut my finger but the clamps when they go down are quick and grip tight!!! It’s easy to remove the rat once caught, you push the “pedal” down on the outside to release the “teeth” from inside, and the rat will fall out. I just put the dead rat in a poo bag and then in the (outside) bin. Top tip though - ALWAYS where gloves when handling the traps and putting bait in. It comes with gloves but I’ve ended up using a pair of washing up gloves which I wash every time after use. Highly recommended - if instructions are followed, gloves are worn and peanut butter used!

Very effective... only one small problem
Delighted with the product, below is my first 2 weeks experience with it. Day 1 - received my pair of traps, (I will call them [A] and [B] for simplicity) , and I put them in 2 locations in the garden along a fence. Day 2 - did nothing as per the instructions for the rats to get used to them Day 3 - I put the included peanut butter in the mouth of the tunnels of both traps Day 4 - did nothing Day 5 - Went to check the traps and found all the bait gone, so as per the instructions I loaded the trap and put the bait in the green bowl. Day 6 - I looked out of my kitchen window and could see the green plastic exposed from a distance [Trap A], excited I rushed over and found my first victim! I held the trap over a plastic bag and pushed the lever to release the rat and it dropped in, I didn't even have to put more bait in as it hadn't been able to eat any. Day 7 - nothing Day 8 - Another catch in trap [A] this one still alive, so had to finish it off with a heavy object (I felt terrible, but chatgpt said it was the most humane way to do it). Topped up the bait with supermarket peanut butter as I found the included one runny and messy to handle. Day 9 - looked out the window and trap [A] not visible, I looked everywhere in the garden and nowhere to be seen 😞 I suspect it got kill #3 and a cat or fox saw it and carried it off Day 10 - Nothing Day 11 - Nothing. So far in 11 days trap [B] has not had any success, I decided to put it in the former position of trap A Day 12 - I find the trap upside-down, and lever has not been triggered, must have been a bigger animal again Day 13 - Nothing. Now 5 days without a catch I start to get concerned... have they become too clever? I decide to put peanut butter in both entrances to the trap Day 14(today) - BOOM! we have confirmed kill #3...or is it #4? To summarise: 1. In 14 days I have had 3 confirmed kills 2. Important to follow the instructions. 3. Don't give up, if you aren't getting any rats you might have to change the position or place some extra bait by the entrance to entice them in. 4. I have sadly had a trap stolen by a large animal, if the sellers would like to send me a replacement in exchange for this detailed honest review it would be much appreciated !😁

Works well for mice and medium sized rats.
Placed Cheshire cheese in this trap. Placed near a wall in the outbuilding and was careful not to touch with my hands as human scent can deter vermin from entering the trap. Caught two rats and 2 mice in the four nights that I put the trap out. Cleaned with antibacterial spray after each capture and left outside to dry each day. On the fifth night I heard the trap trigger at 10.45pm, a massive rat like scream and squealing and the trap being clattered against the wall. Next morning the trap had been triggered, it had moved from the original position it was set in and there was a pool of blood on the floor.....but no vermin. I can only speculate that this was a very big rat and the trap failed to hold it. Good trap, but ask yourself how big your rats are. If big then you may want to consider a more heavy duty trap.

Do not buy, catastrophic failure after 7 uses, utter JOKE!!
Initially my review would have been 10⭐️’s!! But as I have to give 1 star to post any kind of a review, which is ridiculous by the way!! Any negative reviews/from Honest customer product testing, with their total honesty & time spent testing an item fairly for a short amount of time, why is it, that that honest remarks & warning, ideal to those of us who read reviews on everything before we buy anything, is totally put off to see 1-2-3⭐️ reviews have been made but are unavailable to be read!!! So the negative truth never makes it to the review MAT, for us genuine customers, to warn those potential purchasers of a substandard product, these types of useless/faulty products, should have no place receiving any stars!!! but when will Amazon ever take any notice of us customers screaming for this system to change for years now?? So as I have to leave a star some godforsaken reason, the 1 star is for the seller = A+B only!! So here goes for My HONESTY:- A. Speedy delivery B. Well packaged inside & out of packaging C. Build quality of trap (at initial usage) D. Ideal size for my disabled hands to use 2 handed without any injuries! E. It caught 2 mice within the first 2 hours of being placed down outside. E. 2.0. I had mixed half a teaspoon of peanut butter & a just a little less of a very well know hazelnut chocolate spread together in an egg cup, I put it inside the little cup, (home hack) I used a Mc-D’s frappe straw with the spoon end to cleanly load it without any mess, then smeared a very small amount on a piece of cardboard near both ends, of the entry tunnels, only what was left on the back of the straw spoonI, just entice faster, I had cut cardboard to place it on, so I could be sure of it not spreading the attractant mix all over the flooring, would have used a large butter tub lid, but it wouldn’t fit flat on it at all.. Then this happened:- F. It caught 7 in total, 3 at mine & 4 in My Mum’s Garage, so it worked initially great. But I Went to set it again recently, just to be sure all was still 🤞🏻clear in my back garden in my outdoor shed, as my hubby was sure he heard familiar sound recently, havent needed it until now & just to be sure… So I again unboxed & loaded the mix, hubby went to engage crocodile mouth jaw, to find that the mechanism was broken, it had clearly snapped the flimsy plastic bit that primes it, on its last catchment of a mouse at Mums, where it was wiped down & boxed up, stored for next time it was required… So here I am with a trap & possible mouse in the shed & we cant use it, it should not be that brittle, it should be sat ready for its next potential victim!! Due to these issues & TOTAL PRODUCT FAILURE, that was Never fit purpose!! Its states recyclable again & again for years to come somewhere I had read at purchase, little did I know it would only last 2.5 weeks maximum!! So this was a major waste of money, I am very disappointed & quite angry, that at that cost & it only works 7 times before disintegration!! Total catastrophic failure of the device after 7 times primed ready to rock!! So clearly not fit for use/purpose, maybe Trading Standards can look at it & test the actual substandard plastic, clearly is not the right kind of plastic to use for it at all, as there is clearly a weakness, totally highlighting a clear design flaw & substandard materials used to make it!! So NO recommendations here from me, now I have to save & then waste more money to buy another one, else where online that is sturdy & reliable, as I walked to bed one night & woke up the early hours & was paralysed from Cauda-Equina Syndrome, so I will need hubby to deal with ot for me

Can trap the rat alive.
I don't really know what to say about this trap, good? Bad? You decide - I followed the instructions about baiting it unset. The next day the food was gone so I re-baited it and set it to snap. Very simple to do, easy. Less than 10 minutes later it went off. Very simple, quick and efficient. So that's the good part. Now the bad part. The rat wasn't dead. I could hear thumping coming from the attic and called friends for assistance. They very gamely went up, wrapped the trap in a towel, put it in a plastic storage box and brought it down. The rat was very much alive but stuck. I'm the end I had no choice but to fill the box with water and drown it. This is not the quick humane end for the rat I was hoping for. This was very upsetting and stressful for me and cruel for the rat. The rat had been pinned on the snout. Be aware the trap can pin the rat alive. I don't think I'll be using this trap again, if I need one in the future, as I don't want to go through this experience again. This trap is not 100% effective.

Tamp in properly
Had a problem initially as food disappearing but trap not springing. Contacted the seller who told me what to try I did and worked perfectly. Used the peanut butter fully tamped in and added some porridge oats scattering a few on the way into the trap. 12 hours later Mr Rat gone.

Not squirrel proof!
Sadly this item isn't much use as it attracts squirrels as the video shows. They trigger the trap which closes. The trap has to be rearmed each time. Not got any rats at all.

Super effective. Works really well. Simple to use
Works great. Does the job. Simple to use, highly effective, instant kill. Highly recommend. Much less harmful to wildlife and domestic pets roaming outside. Easy to verify that a rat was present and got killed. Much better than any poison. And conventional snap traps just don't work even if placed in especially designed bait boxes to prevent danger to children and pets. These newly designed traps are absolutely working and worth the investment.
