Best Bible I have owned
This Bible is great for reference or just casual reading. It has the most clear translations and notes that I've ever seen. My main New Testament is the Phillips translation, done by an Oxford scholar, and this Bible it's in the same league. It has very helpful and thorough notes, cross- references, commentary, and maps that help bring the story to life nicely.I returned the standard text version of this work that was not large type. I wrote in some detail that. the regular text of that version was small, but the notes and references are so tiny that they are difficult to read without reading glasses. That is not the case with this "large type" version. While this is called the large type edition, it's more in line with the type face that other books of this nature use. For example, the Tony Evans study Bible type is slightly smaller, but the two are equally readable. As far as the rest of it goes, I don't think I can add a lot to the other reviewers, except to say that it's incredibly well done and inspired by the Holy Spirit. (If that sounds odd, note that translators have many options in making subtle choices that make a large difference in the meaning. So I honestly do believe the Holy Spirit was involved in this work of translation.)I highly recommend this Bible to others.

This Liberal Atheist Approves
I’d bet money that there’d be more Christians today if the NLT was the standard version in most churches/communities. I’ve tried to understand other versions like the KJV or NIV or NRSV and this one is by far the most understandable. Sometimes it seems like the Bible was written 20 years ago! And I’ve compared verses between the various versions. The meaning of the verses do not change in the NLT. So there is no downside in my opinion. And the notes are very helpful and plentiful even though I disagree with their conservative bent.

Met my needs
I really like this Bible so far. I am replacing my current Life Application Study Bible. I like the large print and indexed tabs. It is quite a bit larger due to the larger print, but I really like it. I chose the NLT version this time and and getting use to this translation.

Beautiful Bible
I love this Bible. Only somewhat downside is that it's quite heavy. However, it is a good tradeoff considering all the extra details and analysis it includes. I love that on each verse it has side notes of other places in the Bible where you can find more on that topic. It is very helpful when studying. The cover is nice and the gilded edge is really pretty yet subdued. The pages are thin but not flimsy. Doesn't feel like they will tear off during use. The thumb indexes are very helpful in finding the book you are looking for.I totally recommend it for your own use or as a gift.

Love it!!
I love this Bible! I do wish the font was slightly larger, but It's easier to read than my other Bible. It is heavy, but that's the trade off for larger font and all the applications, maps, etc., so I don't mind.
