If you cannot afford Kenny's high end guitars (costing thousands of dollars and owned by almost every big name music pro), then I recommend his line of Cordoba guitars. Look at the C7-CE cedar top, a very sensual guitar. If you are a beginner, keep in mind that many beginners start with an el-cheapo guitar which even a pro could not make it sound good. Don't discourage yourself. Look seriously at Kenny's Cordoba line of guitars. I got these strings from Amazon. I find them excellent. I tried some others but these beat them out. I love the resonant tone I get on the treble strings (possibly partly due to the normal tension) while still getting ringing bass (high tension in this set). It is a little weird that the tension level for the bass three strings is high while the tension for the treble three is medium. But it works really well. I still have not tried strings with the plastic web type coatings. They claim these last a lot longer because they keep finger dirt, grease, and sweat from getting into the strings which crud makes them go "dead" a lot sooner. When strings go dead they become nearly impossible to tune so they always sound out of tune. I read this has something to do with the way they vibrate, but this info is too complex to explain right now. Fresh strings are easy to tune but when brand new they are still stretching a lot so you got to keep tuning between songs. This affects the bass strings more than the trebles. But then, that is always one characteristic of nylon string guitars. Get yourself a good electronic tuner or use the one built in to your guitar if it has one to check tuning between each song. Tuning on stage is ok, your fans will appreciate your attention to detail and respect for their ears. So the appeal is longevity. This longevity issue mostly affects the bass three strings because they are wound which leaves a lot more room for junk to contaminate them. Longevity is quite appealing because longevity is a large problem for nylon strings. One thing you can do is only replace the bass strings because the treble strings deliver good tone and vibration twice as long. If you do this, try using high tension bass with your existing normal tension treble strings. I just placed some web plastic protected strings on one of my guitars. To start with, they do not play as well as these Savarez split-tension strings. It is the first time I ever used high tension trebles. But the bass strings sound great. We'll see about longevity. What if Savarez began using the plastic Web coating or what if the other companies started using split-tension string sets? Maybe I'll update this review later... godembryo

These strings are what came on my Cordoba guitar from the manufacturer. The sound is so good, I figured I should stay with the originals. I am not disappointed. These are quality strings, sound great, and feel nice on my fingers.

They are pricey, but they really transformed the sound of my guitar. I recently purchased the Cordoba C7 with the solid top in cedar. It had a nice tone, but I thought better strings might yield a distinct improvement. I took a chance and opted for the mixed tension kit. After restringing, the tone was much more pronounced and had a clarity the factory strings did not. The higher tension bass strings offer more articulation and volume, while not being too hard on the fingers. In the first week, it took a lot of re-tuning until the slack and stretch of the strings settled. The sound has deepened with a lovely balanced resonance. I love the vibrant tone and clarity while still maintaining the mellowness in the overall sound. It is a perfect pairing with the C7 that provides an instrument beginning and intermediate students will find joy in playing. I have no idea of their longevity, but they are worth the price.

As far as I am aware, this is the only set of guitar strings that combine normal and hard tension strings. Of course, you could always buy strings individually, but I really like this set because of this specific feature. The Savarez Corum Cristal seem to break-in faster and last longer than my second favorite strings, D'Addario EJ46 Pro-Arte Hard Tension Nylon Classical Guitar Strings. Arguably, the D'Addarios are a better value in terms of price, and I do hesitate buying the Savarez because of the cost. But other than cost, I like the mixed tension set and the consistent tone I get from the Corum Cristal strings.

I love these strings. I’ve always had strong hands and these strings, with their high tension, allow me to get the tone I’m after without holding back. They’re perfect.

The mixed tension has been amazing for my playing… i havent used anything else in over 5 years. Just got a new set [they last me about 3-4 months before they lose their “ring”] and well worth it. Just dont see trying other strings when these are perfect for my playing.

My guitar came with Savarez Strings from the factory, and I was fortune enough to find the exact same ones. So the sound still the same. Awesome!
