Works perfectly

I have needed this device for years and never knew about its existence.I use it to get the retaining screws out of my woodstove pipe. That is between the wall and a tile covering.It holds the self tapping screws very tightly. Whether I am inserting them or removing them.Before I got this device. I used to drop a lot of the screws behind the wall. Never to be seen again.I love this device. I just wish it was an Inch or two longer, but it will do for my work.

Actually bought both the size 1 and size 2. These work much better than my old screw starters. Not really for extremely tight spaces, but they are well worth the money.

This screwdriver works fine; Greenlee makes very good tools. I use this to hold small #4 sheet metal screws when attaching chassis panels to a modular rack. To "load" the driver, the thumb of the driving hand forces the plastic holder shaft forward while the other hand places the screw/bolt into the small opening at the end and then onto the screw. For someone with fat fingers (like me) this can be a little cumbersome at first. It got easier after installing several screws. I docked a star because I think the spring in the holding mechanism is disproportionately strong for holding #1 head Phillips screws. Like I said before, I use it for fairly small screws (#4 - 1/4 in.) and by the time enough threads have penetrated the material to get a solid grab, the holding mechanism is almost bottoming out on the face of the panel. This presents a problem with possibly marring the finish on the panel face. To release the holder, you again push forward gently on the rectangular thumb tab and make sure that you have an escape route to move the entire driver away and off the screw. The holder then snaps back and you can then tighten the screw all the way down. It works and after a bit of practice is pretty easy. It sure beats trying to hold small screws with fingers.

should have bought this years ago. Being able to hold a screw while hanging cabinet doors is a must. does the job well

I'm 82 and my grandfather gave me something like this when I was a child, but for slot head screws. I still have it. I expect my great grand children to have similar recollections in 2098. Thank you.

Yes should have purchased a long time ago. Very handy no more dropped screws.

Really useful and effective captive screw mechanism. It takes a little practice but worth it, especially if a dropped screw means taking what you're working on to pieces to find a stray.
