Stetson Men's Royal Deluxe Open Road

The Stetson Open Road Royale Deluxe is an excellent hat choice - for some. Is it right for you? There's only one way to find out. Try one on. The obvious pros are: Stetson is a premier brand, known for quality, durability and design. With that comes an expectation that you'll get what you pay for. This hat is not cheap! You should expect a good fit, a great presentation out of the box (and a reusable hat box, too!) You should not see obvious flaws in stitching, a misshaped brim, crushed crown or shipping labels all over your hat box. There should not be obvious signs of wear in the sweatband like letters with the gold color worn off. If you buy this from a reputable retailer, you'll be able to inspect the hat while trying it on. Color is another important factor that only an in-person purchase can determine. What looks good in a picture may not be a good color choice for you, your hair and complexion. Of the six Stetson Open Road Royale Deluxe hats I ordered, only one was acceptable. One was the wrong size (my fault) and one wasn't even a Stetson let alone an Open Road. One came in an unsealed, open box and was obviously pre-owned. Another was a poor color choice. There were more quality issues, too. When I finally found a version worth keeping, it felt right - like the hat I had hoped for on my first try. The hat is perfect but the experience was agonizing. Take your time. Weigh your options carefully. Shop local if it's possible.

Best hat ever

I love Stetson Men's Royal Deluxe Open Road hats. They are beautiful, stylish and well made. I own several in different colors. I wear one everyday. My highest recommendation.

Fit is great (7 3/4 on my about 23” head). Can wear it all day and it doesn’t ever feel too tight, but I can ride a bike and it doesn’t blow off mainly because of the leather interior band which kind of sticks the hat to your forehead. I do have just about an inch and a half of fitting tape on the inside to shape the hat to my weird head a little better. It feels like there’s a little room for the hat to shrink just a bit, which I’m told is normal for hats to do as they age. See how that goes in the future. I thought I ordered ‘grey’ but the box is labeled ‘caribou’. Looks like a dark grey, so no problem. The hat normally looks darker grey (like what’s shown in my second pic), but occasionally under some lighting conditions it looks like a lighter grey (like my first pic). As far as cons: I guess I would say the dark grey ‘caribou’ isn’t super versatile. It looks really good with some things, and other things it doesn’t quite work as well. I’m not a huge fan of the cheap grey band it comes with. A ‘cognac’ leather (like what’s on the inside of the hat) would look so much better against the grey, in my opinion. So I’m trying to find a hat band the right size and color. For some people spending this much on a hat would be a big con. You kinda get what you pay for and I would say the hat feels and looks like what you’re paying for it.

El producto llegó a tiempo, sin embargo, venía en una caja que no corresponde a su tamaño. Tengo otros sombreros Stetson adquiridos directamente con la marca y siempre han llegado bien empacados. Este sombrero llegó deformado por el empaque inadecuado y tiene manchas de almacenamiento. Habrá que limpiarlo y amoldarlo a ver si retoma su forma original, inaceptable para un producto premium y nuevo.
