Sauder Edge Water Computer Desk with Storage Drawers, Home Office Desk, in Estate Black

I love this desk! I only have a couple "complaints", but not enough to drop to four stars. Overall, I LOVE this desk and am so happy with my purchase. PROS: Pretty easy to put together. All the parts and assembly pieces are clearly marked, and the instructions are VERY clear. It took awhile to put together, but the whole process was super easy to do by myself. The desk looks really nice, and it is very sturdy. It isn't all real, solid wood and has a veneer top, but it is still super sturdy and well made (other than my dinging it when putting it together lol) I love that there are matching items like the bookshelf, etc. The cost was amazing - great bang for your buck! Fast delivery CONS: The desk is just short enough that with the tray, I can't cross my legs underneath the desk, and I have a short chair. I wish the desk was just maybe 5 or 6 inches taller. The blocks that hold the tray are ridiculous - there is hardly anything to hold them up to the desk. It's like they were holding on just by sheer willpower. The tray fell out after just a day with the slightest pressure applied. It was easy to fix with some wood glue and extra screws, but I shouldn't have had to do that.

The desk we are replacing, also made by Sauder is about 25 years old, it's starting to sag but that can be expected over that long of use. This desk is larger having storage on both ends. I had same issues as others reported concerning the drawer slides not being labeled well. The slides for the drawers are labeled with a code that matches the instructions but the slides for the keyboard shelf are not labeled. I had a problem with the upper drawer not wanting to fit into the desk when in the closed position at first. The front face can go on in two ways which puts more of it sticking up. After removing it and swapping it around only to find that was not the problem, I swapped it again and found if I loosened the front slid mount on each side of the drawer and let the drawer move lower in the front (rear not adjustable), than the drawer fit just fine. It was rubbing on the lower drawer but when I adjusted the lower drawer slides the same way both drawers fit just fine, they both look good with equal gaps all the way around. The storage door on the left was rubbing but adjusting the hinges to move the door further to the right solved that problem and looks good with equal gap all around. I did find 2 pieces that were not labeled, they were the panels the keyboard shelf slides mount to. Most pieces have stickers on them to identify the part, some have a printed mark on the edge of the part. Would be nice if the parts packaging had the test a little larger to make it easier to read. Be fore warned, get help to lift this package, Amazon driver brought it into my carport and I carried it into the house by myself and it is HEAVY !!! I got it into my kitchen than used a tool cart to move it into my living room. When lifting the desk after installing the back panels I had my neighbor help lift it with me as I did not want to put all the weight on the "feet" that mount to the front legs, there is only a screw holding them on. Being a computer desk would be nice if Sauder included a hole and grommet of some type in the top of the desk. Drawers are also not as deep as they could be as others have stated, I don't see any reason why the drawers could not go back further. Overall it's a nice looking desk, we bought the black finish. If it lastas half as long as our previous desk it will be well worth the cost.

This is my work from home desk. Assembly was kind of a pain, but reasonable for the amount of pieces involved. What I like: - looks nice! - has a keyboard tray right at the right height for me (5’2”) - big enough for monitor and laptop plus a few piles of paperwork without being too huge - chair opening is wide enough for my wheely office chair What I don’t like (none are deal breakers for me) - warning - box it comes in is HEAVY. My (strong) husband had to call a neighbor for help bringing it in - tip: use an electric screwdriver to assemble even though it says not to. Just be careful not to screw anything in too far. - tip: read the assembly instructions ahead a step or two to understand what you need to do. - drawers are smaller than I expected - made up of particle board (like most desks at this price point) - back of desk is essentially cardboard. It matches the rest of the desk, but you can tell. It won’t look great unless up against wall. - keyboard tray doesn’t pull out smoothly - one drawer is crooked. Fixable, but would require taking apart and reassembling and who has time for that - would prefer more drawers or better shelves on the left side, rather than space for a cpu. Personal preference but a heads up for laptop users Today is my first day using it so I can’t speak to durability but it seems like it will hold up ok. It is sturdy, not rickety, but my guess is that it may chip or wear kinda easily, and I’d definitely recommend using a coaster.

This desk ALMOST had it all, and I was sad to find out towards the end of putting it together that the design of it is a bit flawed and the advertisement is misleading. However, even with its flaws, I'm giving it a 5/5 because it's just so damn gorgeous. You would think the two drawers on the right would actually be the same size on the inside that is depicted on the outside, right? Wrong. The drawers are roughly 4 inches smaller than the actual vanity panel that you see in the pictures, making them not nearly as deep as I originally though they'd be. Additionally, because of where the pre-drilled holes were drilled, the drawers rest on top of each other. This means when I open the bottom drawer, the top drawer is resting on it and also opens (and vice versa). Yes, the drawers are still functional, but do you see what I mean when I said design flaw? The bottom drawer is advertised as a filing cabinet. While I WAS able to fit files in there, it's a very tight squeeze, so be ready to purge your existing files. Some people might have to change the type of file folders they use due to the shallow nature of the drawer. In addition, the left cabinet is for a computer tower. If you have a custom-built PC like me, be prepared to have a rough time getting your tower to fit in there. I was a little nervous that it wouldn't have enough circulation, but it seems to be doing alright so far! The only other issue I had was the left door where the computer tower is stored. These hinges are the spawn of Satan himself. Both my boyfriend and I could not get the side screws to progress, and I eventually had to stand up and force all my weight into the screwdriver to get it to catch. Eventually, it worked, but only after a lot of frustration and saying "Are we stupid? WHY can't we get this to work?!". So new desk buyers: be prepared to muscle the hell out of those door screws. All-in-all, the desk is BEAUTIFUL. The things I mentioned above are not detrimental to the functionality or the aesthetic of the desk. It is HUGE and perfect for what I wanted (digital illustration & office-related grown-up things). The chalked white is a beautiful modern-yet-antique look, and the surfaces are grooved, mimicking real wood. This was a perfect focal point of my studio and is an absolute steal for the price.

This desk turned out better than I expected. It feels sturdy once assembled, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. It took me around two hours to put together by myself. The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about is the front panels they’re very thin cardboard. The center section pops out to help with airflow for your monitor, which is convenient, but the material feels a little cheap compared to the rest of the desk. Still, for the price, it’s a good value and works well for my setup.

The most surprising thing was how good it looks once it's assembled. The finish is really nice and the pictures online do not do it justice. It reflects and diffuses the light really nicely. The finish however is not durable. Mainly due to it being plywood. There are a couple places where the pieces got gouged by the cabinets during assembly, but you cannot see it. You'll probably also need to keep sharp metal or heavy metal objects off of your desk. Think about furniture made from a softwood like pine, but slightly less durable than that. However, for 200 dollars, it's a good purchase. While the assembly was definitely tedious, I was very impressed with the workmanship and how everything went together. It took probably 3-4 hours to assemble. But as a mechanical engineer, I've never seen a desk designed so well from an assembly & fasteners standpoint. Everything fit perfectly. The drawers can be adjusted easily and the door latches are also adjustable, so that the door doesn't sit crooked. All of the spring latches were also made from metal, rather than plastic and their spring force also feels quite sturdy. The unit was built IKEAesque, but it was surprisingly sturdy for plywood. Most of the pieces are 3/4 inch thick. The smaller pieces were still 1/2 plywood. As a fairly large man, I was unable to carry the box upstairs myself. Though I'd say it's a more than doable two person job.

First: let me say that it looks great after put together, that being said it also came when i expected. Second: I did have as others said a bit of trouble with one or more drawers because holes didnt line up,and had to redo 1 drawer by taking out screws and turning around the front face....then tried again. It wasn't perfect but it worked better. My drawers were abit off- when inserting into rails the drawer was off to left side abit. Had a person help move the desk down abit further and afterwards the drawers seemed to be ok and slid in easier! Third: Trouble with the large keyboard tray! I purchased this because of the large tray would fit my keyboard and mouse, which i need on left side as i'm left handed. The boards that go on the top(from underneath) have cam locks/cam bolts and you have to make sure yu have the cam lock turned the proper direction and in right spot to begin turning or when desk is upright- you will have the keyboard tray with the brace boards come down and the tray is soo heavy that it will hurt abit if hits your knees, or upper legs. It did come down on me and it was so sudden i just had time to lessen it's weight on me. I can't fix the left side board; it doesnt stay in and i've redone the position of the cam lock twice. only right side is staying in The rest of desk is as looks in picture. Have my quad core pc in the cubby for it. It is tall and just fits in! had to raise the little shelf up a notch and i use that shelf for the modem. All in all this is very gd for price and does it's job(other than my problem) Did anyone have this problem? i can't keep the tray on the desk as it keeps coming down on my legs and i have a bad knee. I love Sauder's furniture, have had many since the 80's-possibly first one was a sauder in upper 70's but not sure- anyway the usually have grt instructions with little windows for special handling of some screws,or which position to put a tray,railing, etc.Love the Desk, hate the under desk boards holding in tray- wish they were also screwed in for safety! That is what i need to do now-have someone drill hole to screw the boards in so won't come out and i won't be getting hit on legs with the tray,keyboard and mouse on it. it doesn't hold all that weight very well. Hope they see this as i don't know what to do about that tray and the boards! it ruins the whole effect of the desk, and i have to type on the keyboard at a bad height, for my hands.... Forth: would give this a 4-5 if it didnt have this problem. It's now a year old and don't think i can get any help now. So anyone have this problem ....if do quickly call Sauder and see if they can get problem fixed. You do need help with this....it is heavy and need to move it into place when done-takes two! Beautiful desk, large enough to fit 2 monitors and 2 laptops, which is exactly what I needed. Takes a while to build, it took me about 3 hours, it's easy, just tedious. The hardware that came with it seems sufficient. I don't know about durability, have had it for a couple weeks only, but so far very happy with it! It's very sturdy. Con: it came with a chipped corner and I was not going to return it just for that, and even if I wanted to, it's impossibly heavy to move.

It will take you at least an hour to put together, but it's very easy. Take your time and you will be happy with the results. The desk looks great.

Got this desk along time ago maybe like two years ago and now I’m writing a review because I have a lot of time on my hands but I store all my make up and the one side all my paperwork so it’s durable long lasting and very strong ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Took a while to put this together but the results are good. Pretty much as advertised and looks good. Only issue I had was with assembly of the feet. The pre-drilled holes were just too small for the screws so I had to drill them out larger.

Nice desk, be prepared to spend a couple of hours putting it together.
