Reliable
I’ve own this workhorse for many years and I absolutely love it. Connectivity is solid. Once plugged in, my computer recognizes it as an alternate camera. It works immediately. Installation was easy and so far after at least 2 years, I’ve never had to revisit the Okiocam website for driver issues. (I need to check how long I’ve had this device. ) Appearance is not as cute as some cameras. However, what it lacks in appearance, it makes up in quality. The base is smartly designed to fold out flat and become the surface upon which I write on. Sometimes, I wish the edge of the base was a little longer to support the right margins of my paper. However I adjusted by writing on a notebook. In terms of versatility, it functions extremely well as a document camera for teaching, but not as much as a document scanner. It doesn’t have a light, but for what I do as a teacher, it illuminates nicely enough. I use Papermate fine tip markers when I’m solving problems or using worksheets in a well lit room. I also love the compactness and durability. When traveling with it, I use the box that came with it. Any writing tool I use is visible under this camera. If lighting is needed. I use my desk lamp. Now as a document camera for scanning documents, 📄 im clueless on how to master this with my camera. It takes great pictures, which is what I end up loading for my students. I may take half a picture. However, finding that picture to upload has been a challenge. (I often resort to using my phone for document scanning. ) I’m not tech savvy, so it’s possibly operator error. I haven’t used the flat grey surface with my dry erase marker as much as I thought I would. I did it once, and it looked like the stain was hard to remove, so I abandoned that idea. Mine came with an extension which is used periodically. Overall I love it.

Must-Have for Every Classroom!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Must-Have for Every Classroom! I absolutely love this document camera! As a teacher, it has completely transformed the way I present lessons. The picture quality is sharp and clear, even when zoomed in on small details like math problems or text in a book. My students can finally see everything clearly, no matter where they’re sitting in the room. Setup was super simple—just plug it in and it was ready to go. The flexible arm makes it easy to adjust angles quickly, and I can switch from showing a worksheet to modeling a science experiment in seconds. What I really appreciate is how versatile it is. I’ve used it for read-alouds, art projects, science demonstrations, and even to showcase student work. It keeps my lessons interactive and my students engaged, which is priceless. If you’re a teacher (or even homeschooling), this is one of the best investments you can make. I can’t imagine teaching without it!

Great little document camera!
I bought this during the pandemic when I had to conduct OT sessions from home - keeping students engaged meant they needed to see materials on their screens, not just my face. The Okiocam S-4K was incredibly easy to use and worked well in a variety of lighting situations. I've recently pulled it out to use with a student with a CVI, they are able to place objects under the camera for examination, and the whole team is quite excited. 5 years ago I didn't need to use any drivers or download anything from the Okio website (plug and play), but with the latest work laptop I did need to download Okiocam Live for Windows. Important note - this doesn't require a power outlet, so it's easily accessible and usable for students who work in a variety of locations.

I love this little camera!
I am a teacher. In my classroom, I project lessons on my big, clunky Elmo document camera every day. When we switched to a virtual setup due to the whole global issue, I didn’t have room to bring that beast of a doc cam home with me. I decided to try the Okio Labs camera just to get me through until we came back in person. I instantly fell in love with the size, portability, ease of setup, clarity of picture, and the options available to use the camera, whether as a still cam or a video feed. This little thing is awesome! Being a small and inexpensive device, you have to expect some limitations. The stand, while collapsible, is rigid in place while in use. It is also a little spindly and fragile for classroom use, but would be great for personal or professional use that doesn’t involve rambunctious kids. The zoom feature is digital zoom, not done by adjusting the lens, and the display on the computer does take a little getting used to, especially if you are trying to make the most of the available features. All of that aside, I am a big fan of my little document camera. I want to replace my current classroom Elmo with my little Okio. I just want a version that is a little sturdier so my students can’t wreck it.

Sharp images, easy to get up and going
I purchased this camera because the price was agreeable at $69. I use this for teaching geometry and algebra. I have another document camera but not only did the arm break and require taping, it seemed to constantly need to be refocused. This camera is simple: plug via usb to computer, download driver, and run. I did not know before hand, but it requires you use it with Chrome. Fortunately I default to Chrome as a rule so this is not a problem for me but if you don't, be forewarned. There is a chrome extension that must be downloaded. The camera itself works well, the arm bends, but I would prefer it also bent where it connects to the base, but that is a small concern for me. It is capable of recording, stop motion, and time lapsing...I have not yet played with those features. As I think about it, I'm using it with my iMac desktop, but it would not run with my Mac Air since the air would need an adapter to plug the usb. You would need to purchase that as well (I have as a matter of fact). All in all, I'm quite pleased with this item.

Great Teaching Tool!
I broke down and made this purchase when I learned I would need to teach virtually again. BEST DECISION! I am not a "techy" person at all, but this document camera was so easy to set up and use. I went to the website, loaded the app onto my computer and followed the prompts to set up the app. Once I plugged in the camera, it was ready to go! I also downloaded the user's manual to help learn the operational parts to the camera. I am using it for demonstrations and modeling work with my students, so it is in document mode. When I place work on the pad to demonstrate to students, they share they can view the work and are able to follow along with me. This is great for those assignments when shared screen doesn't work. You can use it to tape lessons and show later, as well as use to live stream. Wish I had made this purchase last spring when we were in lock down and teaching virtually! Oh, and the price is well worth it. I don't feel as if I overpaid for this camera. A few other teachers in my school have now made the purchase!

Great teaching tool!!
I didn’t end up using the one I purchased because my work decided to supply me with one but since the review request is here I decided to review it anyhow. I truly loved this document camera!! It worked perfectly with zoom. I teach and teaching over zoom is challenging enough on its own! Having tools that work so effortlessly truly made the job so much easier. The price, quality, and ease of use made this the tool of the year in my opinion! The focus and zoom tools allowed me to zoom in and sharpen the image to make it clear for my students. The colors shown on my computer screen were true to what was being filmed. The only thing I didn’t appreciate so much was the folding pad that the camera attached to to hold it up over the document. I ended up poking pens or pencils through papers several times when hitting a crease. I finally just added a pad of paper on top of the camera’s pad and that solved the problem.

Perfect except a couple of annoyances
An otherwise perfect product with just a couple of annoyances. 1) the USB cable is hardwired and not very long. So, if you need a longer cable you need to buy an extension cable with female on one end and male on the other end...you can't just swap the cable for another longer cable you happen to have laying around. 2) when you want to swap between left-handed and right-handed, you'll have to pull really hard to get the parts apart. I had to pull on the parts so hard that I thought for sure there must be a button I need to press. I was afraid of breaking it. So I looked through the documentation to be sure I was doing it right. I searched all over documentation and even googled to find what I was doing wrong. After much searching I concluded I must be doing it right and pulled really hard hoping to not break anything, finally getting the parts apart. I flipped it around and put it back together very loosely to avoid the issue in the future if swapping back again. Otherwise, the image, auto focus and adjustability makes it perfect.

Utilissima

The BEST ever!
One of the best things that have happened to me. I got this one and half years ago and as I student and online tutor, it has helped a lot with my presentations. Many many thanks. Highly recommend.
