Good starter. Paint removal may be needed to improve grounding.
This seems to be a good starter. Works as it should after installation. The service manual shows replacing from the right side. Unless you have little hands, that is nearly impossible. I found a video that recommends removing the clutches and clutch housing and LR shock. I replaced the starter this way and all the starter related bolts and wiring connections were easy to access, and the starter came out the left side easily. If you replace the starter this way, you will need a primary clutch removal tool. Inspection of LR items is easy with the housing removed. The starter should have the paint/powder coating removed from the mounting bolt areas. The ground cable is connected to the top mounting bolt and not removing the paint may create a poor ground and possible no start or premature starter failure from high resistance. Complaints in reviews may be a result of this. When tightening the starter mounting bolts, the bottom bolt must be tightened to spec FIRST. This, according to the service manual, correctly aligns the starter to the gears in the flywheel housing. Problems may result if this procedure is not done. The big unanswered question is how long this starter will last. Description states it meets or exceeds OEM specifications. I hope that includes the internals. Care on install can make a difference as well. I will update as needed. Worth considering
