Great Nickel Test Solution!!
I am a hunter of meteorites and I use this product for testing my finds. There have been those who have said this product is not good for testing rocks from space and others who recommened it. So I came here to purchase the product since I could not find it at my local pharmacy. I gave the product a try and it has worked great for me. I was happy when my specimens were positive based on the test solution turning pink. After testing hundreds of specimens and many do not turn pink, it is obvious that those ones do not have nickel in them. I would imagine this to be the same with jewelry. If the solution on your swab does not turn pink, you do not have nickel in your jewelry. If you are getting a reaction on your skin, it may be from a different metal in your jewelry. Some people are allergic to Silver as well. I am here now to purchase more of the nickel test solution. I have many more specimens to test. Thankyou for this product.Athena Allergy Nickel Solution Detect & Protect Set 1 set

This product does not work
This does not work at all. I watched videos to make sure I was doing it correctly but nothing it's coming back with a nickel indication, and I've tested products that I'm sure are nickel (like keys and flatware). I have a nickel allergy and am on a Facebook group where others have confirmed this product does not work. Not worth buying!

quite pleased
I didn't buy this for the "protect" portion of the set, only the allergy testing solution. I haven't tried the protect solution. I've suffered from nickel allergies as long as I remember. Wearing anything with metal, from eyeglass frames to belt buckles, was always a gamble. I used this to test a buckle on a new pair of shoes before I wore them. I am happy to report that there was no nickel. I couldn't quite believe the results, so I started testing things that I know had nickel in it - like, a nickel. The q-tip turned bright pink, which is what it's supposed to do when nickel is present. The smell of the solution is horrible, and it started to set off my asthma, but I kept it well away from my face and everything seemed ok. Also, it did not ruin the metal on the shoe. I tested it in an inconspicuous spot because I wanted to return the shoes if they had nickel, but the solution didn't leave any marks.

It definitely works, but the scent triggered an asthma attack due to my fragrance allergy.
It works and you only need a tiny amount for each test, so one bottle should last a long time. I tested it on a nickel coin first to make sure it worked and then tested it on other metal objects. I opened the doors/windows for ventilation and wore an N95 mask while testing things. I'm allergic to fragrances so the strong scent immediately triggered an asthma attack and headache.Directions said to use in a well ventilated area, so I strongly recommend testing items outdoors on a breezy day, if possible. Opening a window/door may not be enough. Also recommend wearing an actual respirator when testing if you have sensitive lungs or are allergic to fragrances like I am. At the very least, have a fan blowing.

It works!
Bought this for my new glasses frames that started irritating the tops of my ears. Resorted to using clear nail polish but that kept flaking off. The nickel guard lasts much longer without noticeable chipping. I reapply around every month or when I notice the irritation reappearing. Nickel alert smells absolutely horrendous but works, just be careful of the fumes.

Works but not effectively
I applied the nickel guard to a stud earring just as the instructions said. When I tried to put the post on the back of the earring, the guard started to crumble because the solution is thicker than the post.It could work better for hoops or earrings that don’t have backs. Also, the nickel detect fluid has an extreme chemical smell that’s tough to stand. Overall I think this product does what it says just not in an effective way.

Works as advertised
Does what it's supposed to do; turns a cotton swab pink if the test object contains nickel. A bit expensive for what it is, but you only have to buy it once. The reaction is not instantaneous; you need to keep at it for a minute or so, and if the test object has only a small percentage of nickel the color may be pale and easy to miss.I found that an inexpensive watch that had given me a rash definitely had nickel. The Nickel Guard seems to have fixed the problem. The "Nickel Guard" smells like nail polish, but I think it's a bit tougher and less brittle that nail polish. Does what it's supposed to do.

Waste of time and money and the manufacturers do not stand by their product and do not issue refunds. Buyer beware!
This stuff is nothing more than glorified clear nail polish and a waste of money. Further more the company does NOT back up it's product and when I returned it and asked for a refund I was denied because in their opinion I had used too much of it so they would not reimburse me. They also did not send back the product either so they are swindlers who sell junk and won't give a refund on a shoddy product that doesn't work and don't even return what you purchased so they get to keep your money and your purchased product! Waste of time and money!
