I have bought this product several times over the years from different vendors. Comes in different sizes. I also add a pinch of ENO powder each time for 1 cup of packet powder. I rarely have sour curd used by South Indians at home so I add approx a teaspoon of lemon/lime juice to plain commercial Greek yoghurt. The idlis come out soft and fluffy. Even after reheating in the microwave oven with a bowl of water on the side, the Idlis are soft and fluffy. I often use the idli mixture to make Uttapam ( rice pancakes) at home. I pour the batter as if I am making thick pancakes and sprinkle some chopped reseeded green chillies, a little chopped tomatoes and some chooped coriander ( Aka dhania or cilantro) leaves on top. At times I add the vegetables in the batter before making the uttapam. Therefore this is a versatile product to make South Indian breakfast dishes.

Meeting expectations

Nowadays I am trying to be healthy. So, I am looking for the recipes that requires less oil. So, steamy recipes are on top of my list! Idli is one of them. We do not have Indian grocery shops nearby. Plus I can't make the idli mix powder at home. So, I went for this one. Not bad. But I will tend to buy the Rava (semolina) ones instead of rice one.
