Is this too big to plane the top of a wooden door in a tight spot? I'd like to avoid taking the whole door down.

I'm not sure how successful you will be planing across the door at the hinge end. It would work better if you had enough room to plane along the full length of the door.

Would this tool work for sanding hardwood floors? i just have one plant that i want to remove the stain from and am wondering if this would work? tia

Yes, do it!!! You will have the most unique hardwood floor of all time. It will be as if George Washington and the entire Continental Army en route to Valley Forge walked across your floor all of them in hobnailed boots. Also, it works much more quickly than sandpaper. Has anyone used this for leather? I want to thin out a leather some leather for a belt.

A skife would work better. It is designed for that. The angles on the blade will not work on leather. If you have a belt sander it will work fairly well but watch fingers.
