Is this very light weight?

Yes extremely light but very strong

I’ve been advised to get a really light weight bike- is this as light weight as the leading brand ones? I don’t want a heavy one

I would not say it is light weight, the frame is solid and fairly heavy for the size of it. The wheels are light and the handlebars too but on the whole I think you could get a lighter one albeit more expensive. My grandson is two years old and can push it around easily enough with his little legs but he couldn't carry it.
