Does this item use the same batteries a the Z vibe? Can this be used in place of a regular toothbrush for hygiene?

The vibrator uses two triple A batteries and we do not use it for hygiene purposes as we only have toothettes tips and they do not seem to do a good job at cleaning the teeth.
