The Inside Scoop On A Well Made Bag
Here's the scoop from an experienced traveler, with well over 5 million airline miles and someone who has been using TUMI ballistic nylon bags for years. I have been eyeing RIMOWA aluminum luggage for a long time but can't bring myself to spend $1K+ on a single bag. With that as background, this is a very well made piece of luggage, very solid and very handsome. The only potential weak-point I can see is the TSA locks/latches are some type of plastic, given the quality of everything else I will assume this is very durable plastic. FYI the 26" bag only has two latches, the picture on the Amazon site of the natural aluminum color shows 3 latches, the other colors show 2, which is correct. My observations:1. The aluminum workmanship is excellent and very robust - good.2. The bag is lighter than I was expecting, not much different than my TUMI of the same size - good.3. The lining is adequate but minimal, there is no suit hanging gear as in my TUMI bags - neutral.4. The wheels appear to be durable, I was worried about this but they seem rugged - good.5. The handles are spring loaded so they lay flat regardless of the orientation of the bag - good.6. The extension handle has 3 locking heights and locks in the down position - good.7. The bag came with a cover that velcro's on the bottom this should help it avowing scratched when checked - good.8. The hinges are aluminum, 2 long piano hinges and will never fail - good. One intrinsic difference (weakness) of any bag with latches versus a bag with a zipper is it will be more difficult to over-stuff. On my TUMI bags I have been known to sit-on the bag in order to zip it shut, not sure this would be advisable with any bag using latches. As I said, this is a very well made bag and if the latches hold up this should be a lifetime investment. BTW, I bought the 21" bag as well.

Great product, amazing customer service!
First, I think it is important to note I fly over 150,000 miles per year, this year I am tracking at about 225,000. Almost all international travel. I have been doing this for over 25 years.I have used all types of luggage depending on the trip. (Roller board, hard case, large back pack style, and countless business cases of various brands and styles. For direct comparison though, I have a Rimowa 26” Topas (Lufthansa branded polycarbonate) with approximately 1 million miles on it. Well used, banged up, but very durable.I recently bought the Aleon 26” bag as a gift for my wife. It is lighter, and I like the shape better. It is slightly shorter but deeper which seems better for sectioning off the two sides for packing. It has been on two trips now and held up great! No dents, or significant scratches. (This will be inevitable but based on two trips appears to hold up well, impressive)Locks, wheels, and handle are all very durable and trouble free and rolls well.I bought the Saphire blue which is attractive and unique.Aleon also ships with a cloth cover which is nice for protection from common scratches. Only suggestion, is that should be sold separately as I think it will wear out and will need to be replaced over time. Now the real plus to Aleon and why I am writing this review. I ordered the bag from Amazon and it came in generic box, and it had obviously been used, badly scratched, and obviously returned. Because it is a gift, I wanted it replaced. I sent a message to Amazon asking best method to return for replacement and not credit. Just to be safe, I also sent message to Aleon since I was trying to get this resolved in time for Birthdate. While waiting for direction from either party, Aleon sent a message apologizing and stressing their commitment to 100% customer satisfaction and told me they were sending replacement bag and I should simply keep the damaged one! Absolutely stellar customer service and bag arrived in time for birthday! Aleon has my business from now on.

One of the Best Pieces of Luggage You Could Own
This was the second Aleon bag we have purchased, and with good reason: this luggage is awesome! It was far less expensive than comparable Romiwa luggage. After borrowing my husband's smaller luggage, I was immediately impressed with how smoothly it rolled and how sturdy it was. When it was time for me to replace my old bag, I looked at Aleon and then purchased a cheaper bag from Amazon. I was SO disappointed! I held on to it just so I could compare it to the Aleon I subsequently ordered. The quality difference was so stark I gladly paid the difference. Additionally, though this luggage is not under warranty, when my husband's 22" bag was manhandled at the airport (he takes around 200 flights per year), he was contacted personally by the CEO, and Aleon repaired the bag at no charge. We are now loyal Aleon customers.

I purchased both the 26" and the 21" suitcases. ...
I purchased both the 26" and the 21" suitcases. After many hundreds of thousands of miles I was tired of buying luggage over and over. Not wanting a cloth option I decided on the Aleon cases. The fit and finish and overall quality are what you would expect. The cases feel substantial and should last for many trips to come.
