If you're face screwing PVC decking boards, this tool does the job. After it drives the screw just the right distance, it disengages. The screw heads are not damaged and can be unscrewed once you pull the bit out of the tool and put it in a standard bit holder. The screw heads leave a small hole that is just the right size for the plugs (purchased separately) to be driven flush and hide the hole. I had no trouble with the tool. The directions did mention if you're pulling out the bit (or putting it in) rotating it slightly helps it seat. This is accurate.

Quality great. As good as can be expected

We used this for the picture frame boards on our deck rebuild, which was about 170 linear ft at 12 in. on center, so about 350 screws. It worked well, but eventually the bit tip starts getting worn/rounded, and we needed a replacement deck bit after about 300 screws were driven, but Amazon didn't have them. It wasn't easy, but I eventually found them online at the DIY Home Center, but it took longer and cost more for the shipping than the bits. Amazon should stock the replacements.

I needed to set some new decking in with face applied screws, set to a depth that could be covered with matching plugs. This bit worked like a charm, and functioned very well. I installed Moisture Shield decking in a Catalina color and used the recommended plugs. I don't know why but several local places in my area that sold the decking I used didn't carry this bit in stock. So thankfully I could get it from Amazon.

I was trying to do this by hand prior to getting this tool. Much easier with it.

It worked great until the trim bit wore out and I needed to replace it. I bought the Pro Plug bits that go with the tool and they will not lock into place. If the bit moves around, the screw will not go in properly. Waste of money. Just use the bit that comes with generic screws.

I used for 1x6 Azek decking to standard 16” 0C framing. This work exactly as expected… maybe better, I also purchased a 4 pack of replacement torx bits anticipating that I would wear out the original as the bit repeatedly disengaged with the screw. The original bit held on and got through around 500 screws. Tip: I used a 12” extension on my drill which helped to get into tighter areas next to posts and house. It also helped my back a little.

When using composite decking, pre-drilling is key. This does setup the screw at the proper depth but I tried to use it without pre-drilling and that was a no-go. It absolutely sets the screws at the right depth for the installation of plugs. Still too pricey.

It is not a good tool at all
