⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid fan for the price — gets the job done
This fan does exactly what I needed it to do. It’s sturdy, moves a good amount of air, and the remote is a nice bonus. Super easy to assemble and works well in a bedroom or living room.If I had to nitpick, it’s a little loud on the highest setting - but honestly, I don’t mind. I actually like the white noise sound when I’m working or sleeping, so it’s kinda a plus for me.Overall, for under $50, this fan is a win. Definitely recommend if you need reliable airflow without dropping serious cash.

Bought several over the years
I bought a remote control fan for my ailing father in law and it was such a helpful item for him that I later purchased one for my mom. She loves the 18 inch sized fans so I switched to this brand in 2019. After that, I've purchased 3 more for different people and they are all still going strong. It looks good, assembly is easy, and everyone loves the remote control feature. Never had an issue, they keep working as they're supposed to. Great fans! I will say, they are not the quietest. They're not annoyingly loud, just not whisper quiet, and for me and my husband, that's something that we love. Hard to sleep without the soothing white noise, also helps to drown some noises from others in other rooms.

Great fan with mid base
Ok so lets get the bad out of the way and the reason for the 4 stars. I will be comparing this to my broken Honeywell's experience. So far I'm loving this fan but i really didn't like the fact the whole fan is pretty much made out of plastic and the base is big, like twice the size of my Honeywell base. so if you have very limited space in your bedroom like me, make sure you have room for it. So I just took my old Honeywell base from my fan that broke and slapped it on the Lasko. Take notes Lasko if you are going to charge more than Honeywell at least make the base metal, the Honeywell base and construction for the most part is made of metal, feels very solid and not only is it made of metal but at the bottom it screws in to make sure the metal rod doesn't move. with the slight modification this fan is the best thing ever. I wish the whole thing wasn't made out of plastic. Like the fan grills I'm used to having fans that have a metal construction but i decided to take a chance on this anyway but it seems to hold up well so far. Don't bother with the Velcro that comes with the remote, its cheap and it loses its adhesive after 24 hours so get your own Velcro if you need it. Also the remote strength isn't that strong, I tested it by pointing the remote in the opposite direction of the fan and it would not work unless I pointed it directly at the fan but its still nice to have for those days you're feeling extra lazy. lol Also why cheap out and not make the oscillation on the fan a button instead of the old way of waiting for it to move to the right spot and pull the switch on the back, my Honeywell had a button you could just press real quick instead, minor inconvenience to me, maybe I'm just spoiled, its just kind of confusing to come from a fan that was cheaper and used better materials and function for its design. Stay with me though these are just my personal critiques others may not care about at all.Now for the Good.Fan is strong and at setting one it has enough power for my needs, but this thing can go full force and blow a lot of air if you need it too, its much stronger than my old Honeywell and from what I heard Lasko makes really good long lasting fan motors. I like the fact that it has a built in timer for the fan, the Lasko logo looks great. Easy to assemble in a few minutes, I like the larger grill I feel like it pushes more air out due to its design better than my Honeywell. Also if the fan is making weird noise like clicking in the beginning, you might have made the same mistake as me and not put on the center hub that holds the fan blade in place tighter, I had to tighten it as hard as I could to make the noise go away so make sure you don't tighten it too loosely I wont hold that against them though it was user error. If Lasko took some construction cues from Honeywell in the future and opted for more of a metal build their fans would be the best in my opinion but I'm guessing the cost of a reliable motor makes them want to cheap out on the construction of the fan a bit, BUT overall its a good fan and I'm happy with it for the most part. This is my first Lasko fan so I'm hoping it lasts a long time. If you are looking for a fan that blows a lot of air this is for you. Despite my criticisms I'm happy with this fan so far. I hope it holds up well. If you don't mind a big base and the plastic construction you should get this fan.

I would purchase this fan again
This is a powerful fan with a remote that makes sense. Instructions are fairly useless but that’s almost to be expected. It blows cold air and appears to be pretty well made. I would definitely buy again, particularly with the remote.

Kinda obtrusive, and the electronics burn out spontaneously, making them useless. Moves air until then though.
I bought these - two of them at once - because here in Hawaii fans are a necessity; but the ones with a metal grill get clogged with fuzz and start rusting after a year. Getting fans with plastic grills - even at twice the price of a cheaper fan - seemed to make sense. Why, they would probably last a decade and be easily cleanable.Well they are cleanable, but that turns out not to matter. They didn't last a decade, only briefly after being unboxed. They worked fine when unboxed, one getting used several months, and the other less than an hour; the electronics on one died, then I unboxed the second to replace it, and its electronics died after less than 5 minutes' use.And without electronics, these things are boat anchors. Electronics are nice for adding features, but once those integrated circuits die, they're gone. This is the downside of the electronic controls which make it a remote-controlled unit... if the electronics go, you have a piece of concept art, not an appliance. I suppose I could wire it directly to the motor if I needed a fan which blew full blast every time it was plugged in, but that doesn't appeal to me so I'm giving it away on craigslist for someone else to do that. And buying a $20 fan at Walmart.I wouldn't have reviewed this if the first one hadn't spontaneously conked out, but since I am I'll note that it also kind of dominates a room in a "darth vader" sort of way. It's big. Might be less obtrusive in white color. I see they make a cheaper version of this that's now going for about $32 on amazon without the remote... that might be a decent fan that'd last, though my recommendation would be to buy the white one.***UPDATE THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE SECOND ONE DIED THE SAME WAY AFTER FIVE MINUTES USE: I have changed the 2 stars to 1 star, because the NEW IN BOX one of these I bought as a spare died the same way - dead electronics - after less then 5 minutes of use. This doesn't amuse me at all.Still, being an optimistic doof despite good evidence not to be, I contacted the Lasko company and asked if there were some way to fix the electronics. They replied with some stock paragraph about not using them anywhere the electricity isn't reliable, and not answering my question since clearly any fool could see there WAS no possible fix. Well, nothing ELSE in the house was bothered by the electricity, just two Lasko fans.In fact, faced with throwing the two fans into the trash - one still with new-fan smell - I decided to get into them. I can report that NEITHER of the internal fuses was blown on EITHER fan. There's one soldered to the electronic circuit board and one in series with the red wire - the "full speed" option, also soldered and not replaceable. No, it was just the electronics that died, from power that didn't bother the fuses or anything else in our home.Since I had them torn down, I took out the electronics and wired one to blow full speed and one at medium, but I won't keep them, I'll just donate them to the local schools who have put out a call for fans. They will turn on or off at the plug, and for that they still blow air just fine at one speed, sans any actual controls, showing that it wasn't a motor or fuse problem. (kids, don't try this modification at home).I'll also note that the plastic grill on the "replacement" fan - the one that worked a whole 5 minutes out of the box - never did click in right and I had to secure it with cable ties, which looks terrible. So these really are a 1-star product. Who you gonna believe, all those 5-star reviews by people who haven't had them long, or a guy who clearly has taken their measure and found them wanting?
