Perfect for Bettas and Small fish
So I'm a first time fish owner, and after much extensive research into the different tanks on amazon and research online, I decided to go with this one. I'm super happy with the tank, it's definitely great for a first time fish owner and perfect for bettas (which is what I have in there, don't worry just the one haha). The filter is very quiet and effective from what I can tell, and my betta actually likes to swim underneath and and get partially sucked into the flow and then swim away, like some sort of game haha! But he seems super happy in there with all that I've got, he's even starting to make little bubble nests :) The light works pretty well too, and is bright enough to see inside, but not too bright that it's blinding. I'll do a quick pros and cons list, because there are just a few disadvantages. Pros: -nice and roomy -quiet filter (although keep in mind i have it on the lowest flow setting for my betta) -nice LED lights -not completely enclosed so theres a little notch where you can feed your fish through Cons: -does not come with a heater, so you need to buy separately -because of the way the tank is angled, sometimes your fish can see his reflection so for the first few days my betta was very intensely interested and liked to fight it. once i switched to a lighter background on my tank, however, he seemed much better -if you do have a filter, condensation does tend to build up underneath the lid, but thankfully i haven't had much problems with it so far (just posting so you're aware) -the lid isnt attached at all to the tank, so if you do need to take it off, its not on hinges and you have to completely take it off. not really bad just a bit of an inconvience. Hope this helps!

Awesome product. Look inside review for recommended additional purchases and tips on how to quiet any grinding noises.
First off I bought this with the knowledge that it is very easy to scratch; however the solution to this for me will be the nova liquid which fixes any scratches. Glass however cannot be fixed and I've had bad experiences with leaking so this was the way I wanted to go. The light is really nice and super bright. However it makes me nervous without there being a cover with how much evaporation is going on in winter. We will see. The lid did not seem to fit correctly until I filled it with water which made it bulge out and it fits perfectly now. The filter is one of my favorite things about this, I buy mine unassembled (less then $1 per filter) all you do is open a small carbon bag and dump it into the frame and close it with the clip. It's also very quite and simple to clean compared to the others i've tried. If you experince grinding you just need to check all the connections and try unplugging it and plugging it back in which realigns the impeller. You could even lube it with something fish safe and it will be completely silent. It also has a adjustable flow for those betta lovers! My recommendations to buy with this are: Tetra unassembled (medium) cartridges 12 pack. Magfloat acrylic (small). Novus bottles stage 1,2, and 3 for any scratches. (Optional: Blue led bubbler for inside the tank so it will have a night light) Make sure the tank is fully on the stand as it does come off for cleaning purposes i imagine. Finally this purchase did not come with any of the usual free samples of food or chemicals so if you are in a rush to get this set up like me make sure to have that already purchased.

Nice, but warnings
This is a nice-looking unit and it was easy to set up. But there are a few things that are rather concerning with this unit: -There is a large opening in the front of the lid that cannot be closed. So you have to cover it with something if you have fish that might even just maybe jump out. It is handy for feeding, though I wish it were a closable flap. -A warning is that the pump has rather good suction, and it came set on high. Unfortunately, I didn't notice and my beta got caught in the propeller within the pump! His large and beautiful lower fin was shredded halfway off. How upsetting to me to see his blue fins laying all over the filter fabric. He is not feeling too well. When I decide to put the filter unit back in I will turn the pump all the way down AND cover the intake grids with a foam cover somehow. -The last thing I want to warn about is that the light is actually a short strip of LED lights that is supposed to clip into the inside of the lid. That means if the clips break, the light will fall into the water, which is not safe. And it also means that it cannot be used unless you tape it up into the lid. The wire for the light does not fit into the wire guides provided, so I had to tape them down. This will get wet, so it will need to be checked often. I'm not happy with the light situation. -The lights are too bright so I covered the middle of the light strip with black electrical tape.

At first we thought it was an ok first tank for our son. When adding water into the tank it cracked along the bottom. When we emptied and tried to move the tank it broke in two pieces. Very disappointed with this purchase.
