Perfect Balance of Speed & Power
I have been using this stick as a semi-professional performing percussionist and recording artist since 2012. It is an excellent compromise between the speed and control of a 5A and the projection and power of a 5B. The weight balance and taper is ideal for solid rock, funk, blues and pop drumming. It works for most Latin stuff too, although sometimes I find it a hair too heavy for certain Jazz styles. It is not a bad concert snare stick either although it might not be my first choice for that application. The bottom line is if you are left wanting a little more "oomph" than the 5A is providing, but a 5B feels slow and cumbersome in your grip, try this stick. I tried it on a suggestion and have used it consistently for almost 3 years. I recommend it.

Great stick, pick up a pair and try for yourself!
Great drum stick. I love the balance. I usually play SD4/HD4, but I like this for lighter stuff and might switch this to my main stick. The balance is great and the sticks are consistent. I've been moving from Pro Mark to Vater to Vic Firth's, but I think I'm going to settle on these as my main sticks and stay with Vic Firth. They're always great in my opinion.

the 5a bridge to 5b
This stick was advertised for the person who like the bead of the 5a but the heft of 5b. I will say that fit me to a tee. However...this is a heavy stick not 2b heavy but it is heavier than most 5b's I've used. So I have reverted back to the extreme 5a. I guess you wont know for yourself until you try a pair out. For me, it was just a bit too heavy.

Comfortable blend
The absolute perfect blend between 5A and 5B. These feel soo comfortable in your hand if you tend to switch up between both those sticks from time to time like myself.

Great stick!
Works great, not too heavy but good attack. Usually I'm a promark guy, but these have changed my mind.

The only sticks I use
Excellent sticks. Very consistent. Ordered from Russo music. Shipping is accurate and very quick. I have ordered other equipment from Russo and have been very pleased.

Inconsistent weights of different sets
So I loved these sticks initially but then I ordered more. There is big inconsistency in the weights. One sets had sticks that were about 50/51g. The other sets the sticks were 58/59g. That's a ~20% difference and it's very noticeable. I like sticks in the 48-52g range and the one set is too heavy for my taste. So I don't know if this is a quality control issue or they are just ok with each set being matched. But if you like a certain weight and feel you want consistency across sets. It's funny how manufacturers don't list the weights on their website. I get that these are wood but there should be more consistency
