I received the lighter on a windy day, so decided to see just how "wind proof" it really is. I stood facing the wind with a hand full of long pine needles and it started them on fire the first try in just a few seconds.As for durability and battery life, time will tell.Far better fire starter than ferro rods for sure.Couple this with a solar charged battery and you are set.

short battery life and dose not light things on fire if they are outside of the arc bolts of electricity. it still impressed my friends,and it looks cool. p.s don,t put a blade of grass in the electricity while your still holding it. you will be electrocuted!

Just showed up this afternoon. It was mostly charged, so topping it off only took about 20 minutes on the charger. It works really well and feels like the quality is above the price. I can see it working well for lighting candles and fires, camping stoves, etc. However, for lighting smokes, you have to get the tip of the smoke very close to the arc between the "arms" that hold the electrodes for a proper light. This means you get ash on the lighter and sometimes on the electrodes, so you'll have to keep the electrodes clean. It definitely won't light a pipe or cigar, so I ordered one of type that has the 4 electrodes pointing upward instead of between two arms like this model. I'm sure they'll have their own uses, but I think the type with 4 electrodes pointing upwards might be a better design for more uses.

Like it, can light a fire. It is not totally windproof as I used this for my fishing need to burn the tag end of my fishing line on a boat during windy condition. It also can shock you when the electric light accidentally touch your fingers, don’t ask me how I found out. Good thing the lanyard that came w it was wrapped in my hands. Still better than other lighters I had.

I got this as a gift unfortunately I do not use it often as my kids do not like the noise it emits stating it hurts their ears. Beyond that really neat lighter.

Of course it is a little difficult to wriggle in anything you want to light. If the case gets in the way you can just slide the lighter out of it to light. Usually use a paper towel or napkin if I need better reach or dont want to stick my hand in a fire. You can't ignite the arc when charging. Don't last as long as a zippo, but it is rechargable and last for a good while

I got this for my bf who uses it to light a hemp wick which replaces the use of a lighter. It’s healthier (no butane), less expensive (from not buying lighters), and also more sustainable. he loves it!

I am a big fan of this lighter and love the move away from single used and gas filled lighters. I enjoy using it, but because the lid doesn’t move far back enough it’s impossible to light candles that have already burned down a bit.
