Sizing info: order shorter than you think.....
I had trouble finding good sizing info on these before buying, so I thought I'd write this review to help. I'm 5'-11" & 235# with a large build, wear a men's 36/30 or 38/30 pant depending on the brand (sometimes a 32 inseam again depending on the brand). I ordered an XL-Short & they fit well while wearing jeans. Columbia's sizing guide has this info re waist size: S: 32, M: 34, L: 36, XL: 40, XXL: 44. So the waist fit as expected, just like a size 40 jean: keep in mind you'll likely be wearing jeans or thermals under these so you should probably order a size up. I ordered the short based on the multitude of reviews from Columbia's site for this item stating they run VERY LONG: they were correct: I was almost stepping on the pant with my heal in bare feet! These have velco to make the waist smaller if they're a little big. The crotch & pant legs are generously sized & I have thick big calves & upper legs. I'm surprised they run so long given that these are ski pants & when worn with ski boots the extra length is not necessary, & actually would get caught in the binding when stepping into the ski unless you pull up on the pant leg first. Unless you're 6'-8" I can't see anyone needing the long lengths (unless the inseam automatically shortens when the waist size, which I'm not sure of:couldn't find info on Columbia's site for that). These look to be good quality. Five stars reflects what you're getting for the price paid. I'll be trying these out skiing tomorrow & will update if performance is less then expected. These were well reviewed on outdoorgearlab.com, which is a fantastic site for gear reviews. They exhaustively review only quality products, no throw-away stuff. If you looking for quality gear without breaking the bank the least expensive items they review (often tagged with their blue best buy label) fit the bill. I've ordered ski gloves, ski socks, ski helmet balaclavas, & ski pants (all from amazon) based on their recommendation & have not been disappointed (no, I don't work for them).Oh & I paid full retail for this item, unlike a lot of the reviews that can't be trusted you see sorted on top of many amazon reviews these days......Happy skiing!-AaronUpdate 4-21-17: After two seasons of use & these pants are still like new & I love them. Very warm, windproof, waterproof, & fit over my oversized ski boots with ease. (These are my only snow pants, so I even use them while snowblowing or playing outside in the snow here in NH.) Elastic boot cuffs & waist, along with Velcro boot & waist straps make adjustments a breeze. Several nice pockets for storage. My only criticism (a minor one) is the crotch hangs very low which leads to the overly-long length issues mentioned above. But hey, at least you don't have to worry about the legs riding up (or backside exposure) when sitting on the lift or tucking downhill as a result! Still 5 stars & great bank-for-buck.

Not sure why the pants don't fit. *Updated 01/27/17 - this time they fit perfect!!!! Happy camper!!
I'm 5'7" tall and wear 36 x30 pantsAt first I thought I would buy an XL Short but when I got it,there was no way I could wear that. Just too big. Then I bought the L Short but when I got it, I could not even button the pants. I verified the correct size according to the stitching on the tags. Not sure if I just got mis-sized pants or what...Had to return both pants now i'm stuck with nothing.Updated 01/27/17As I suspected, my first order of the Large/Short was incorrectly labeled. I decided to try to order the Large/Short again and it fits just as I expected! That first pair must have been an error that was tagged incorrectly.Pants are super warm. Bought them mainly for golfing on cold windy days but i'm sure i'll try them out skiing with friends as well!!

Great pair of snow pants
Great pair of snow pants. I'm 6'1" (185lbs) and the medium/regulars fit great. I typically wear a 33/34 size jean. Hope this helps someone when ordering.

Tested and Approved in Maine!
I recently moved to Maine and I bought both me and my husband a pair of these to play in the snow and do other fun activities. These things are warm. I wore no base layer and wasn't cold. They also kept me dry. These things feel like they are a good quality and that they will last us a good long while. I plan on buying more! One thing...i am 5 ft 8 inches and bought a regular...they are long for a regular.

Awesome, better than expected.
I'm around 5'6 with my boots. I ordered the Medium Short and they fit perfectly. My waist is about a 32 in. There are adjustable velcro stretchy straps on the side of the pants anyway if they seem a little loose. Plus there are belt loops on the pants if you need a belt.At the bottom, on the inside they have an elasticated leg gaiter that conforms to your boot,, so the cold doesn't seep underneath.I been out a few times, but today i was out in 18 degrees for over an hour taking pictures at my local metro park and didn't feel an ounce of cold. And it's not like they just stop you getting cold, you actually feel warm inside them.Sometimes i had to kneel down to take a picture in the snow, when i stood back up the snow just falls off. The wetness does not soak into the pant either.Very good product, well worth the money if you want to stay warm.

I can't say enough good about these
I can't say enough good about these. I wanted to treat myself to a higher quality brand than what you would find at a cheap retail store. These are such a quality step up for me and I got a extremely good price on them buying a pair that was like new. I am so pleased with them, they fit great and they are light weight and warm. The craftsmanship of Columbia products is definitely several steps above budget brands.

Little big for me at 40 inch waist even at the tightest setting but was able to make it work with a belt. I was in a bit of jam with a planned trip otherwise I might have asked for a size down to see if that would have been a better fit. Only wish there were more pockets and/or a cargo pocket. Pockets are fleece lined but a tad small but I didn't use them much as I used my jacket for storage. Hope this helps. Cheers.

Consider Appropriate Size
Fits the need for added warmth, but consider the size carefully. I have a 38 inch waist and a 32 inseam. I chose an XL/ Regular and it just fits when worn with jeans beneath. Consider what might be "layered" under the pants and order accordingly.

Good value and quality
I had seen these in Snow and Rock but teh price on Amazon was much better. They have now been worn for 10 days of skiing and performed well. Much less bulky than most on the market which makes them more comfoirtable to wear.Only criticism is that it would be helpful if they came in different lengths as they are slightly too long.

Excelente pantalon

Great to have an option for guys with short legs
Great to have an option for guys with short legs. Totally waterproof in a heavy snowstorm. A little to warm for early spring, would be perfect for mid-winter.
