What is Beta Glucan?
What is Beta Glucan? Beta Glucan, I believe, is too new for people and society to really know. Beta Glucan is a type of sugar found in oats, mushrooms and yeast. It can help with Immunity, Cholesterol, Tumors, blood sugars and Skin Rejuvenation. To me, this pamphlet type book was just research thrown together because there isn't enough knowledge on Beta Glucan itself. I don't really care to know about studies done at the University of Tennessee, College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, academy of Science, Human Nutrition Research Center, and College of pharmacy, ect and the list goes on. Granted you need studies and research to know more about Beta Glucan, but I was looking more for in depth, of how the Beta Glucan works, the components of it, why have we never heard of it before and what is Beta Glucan? I don't believe the author really answered the question to the title of the book or really any of my other questions. The book has less then 30 pages of actual reading, so it can be read in less then an hour. If you are looking for something easy, fast, and real basic's about the research, testing and studies of Beta Glucan this book will be just what you are looking for.

If you are new to Beta Glucan as I was, you will benefit greatly from this resource. I only wish I had gotten the information earlier.

Important supplement
I was first introduced to Roger Mason by reading his valuable book on alleviating/curing diabetes. Now I have got hold of this little book on the benefits of Beta Glucan.Beta Glucan is a polysacccharide found in oats, barley, mushrooms and yeasts. This book is not exactly easy to read, since it consists mostly of references to results of studies on Beta Glucan. However, these results were such that on reading the book I was left in no doubt that Beta Glucan has an extremely beneficial effect on the immune system. Moreover, it fights tumours, lowers cholesterol, normalizes blood sugar and rejuvenates skin. The best kind to take is Beta Glucan derived from yeast.Unfortunately, the booklet is marred by the fact that it does not seem to have been proof-read, since it contains many grammatical errors. However, all in all it is an important, informative book for those suffering from poor health and looking for documentation of the value of this supplement.

The strongest immune system stimulant known to man
Roger Mason is a research chemist who specializes in nutritional studies and research results are what it is ALL about.Roger states: "Beta Glucan is a polysaccharide (i.e. a chain of glucose molecules) that is found in such foods as oats, barley, mushrooms and yeasts." It was only in 1999 that it was cost effective to extract the beta glucan from oats and brewers yeast.I take it almost daily fall to spring and have noticed a big drop in my incidence of respiratory afflictions. I am very prone to colds. The booklet is only 39 pages but is packed with facts.

What is Beta Glucan by Roger Mason.
This book is a simple straightforward digest of published material and trials, and does not claim to be anything else. It is valuable in that it was the first book to appear on Beta Glucan in 2001, and is a worthwhile read in that respect, but times have moved on, and more and more trials have been conducted, destroying in part the premise which he championed. This was that it did not matter what source the Beta Glucan was derived from, all would work equally well despite their origin. This has now been found not to be the case entirely, in that overall the Beta Glucan 1.3, 1.6 derived from the outer wall of cells of Brewer's Yeast is by far the most effective of the polysaccharides, but the 1.3, 1.4 version is proving more effective in treating CVD and lowering LDL and raising HDL Cholesterol levels. The book is easy to read, and a mine of information about the early development and importance of Beta Glucan.
