Rosie

Rosie” is the second Anne Lamott book I’ve read…and I’ve become a big fan of her style and composition. She writes about real people and their muddled up, dysfunctional lives and provides hope for anyone dealing with conflict in their personal existence. Rosie and Elizabeth share an unusual mother-daughter bond which seems to grow stronger as they both become more entrenched in the day-to-day struggles of their lives. The book is poignant, sad and wryly humorous. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone who enjoys Anne Lamott.

I have long been a big fan of Ann Lamont since first reading Traveling Mercies. I shared that book with friends and they too have enjoyed them. Each time I look for her books another little treasure pops up that I didn't know about.Ms. Lamont has drawn Rosie and her family and friends with a deft pen. I couldn't put it down. I was so drawn into Elizabeth and her alcoholic spiral and then James comes along and you think maybe, just maybe things will be alright. Ann handles all the tender aspects of the story with great sensitivity and draws such compassion for the characters. She is my favorite author both as a writer and personally in her struggles with finding her spiritual path. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read her other books or to someone who is looking for a literate and compassionate look at the lives we lead. She is someone I would love to sit down and talk to for hours. I hope you will too.

Love everything she writes.

Very unpredictable and thoroughly entertaining. I was lonely for the characters after finishing the book. I would no longer know what Rosie or her crazy mother were doing that day!

Well written book, good story line. I just couldn't get into the story as much as I hoped I would

I had to pace myself to not devour this fabulous book in 2 days. I am buying it for a friend now. All of the truths and the tiny amazing observations that are classic Anne Lammot, are just so great to read. She really does manage to say the unsayable. Loved Blue Shoe and Bird by Bird also.
