where can i find a replacement manual?

Don't think you can, there is a place called bantam saddle and tack that might have one or join cheese leather shoe patcher on facebook they have one printed in their archive page

What size thread does it take ? Does the foot leave any marks on vegtan leather ? Thanks

I'm using size 69 T70 in mine, but I think you could use heavier. Right out of the box, it will leave marks. I filed the teeth down a little on mine, but it'll still leave marks sewing through 2 layers of 12 oz.. leather! But sewing through lighter stuff, no problem. There are a lot of good videos about this machine on YouTube. I love mine, great piece of equipment for the price.
