Apple Leather Case (for iPhone 11 Pro Max) - Black

Quality case. This is my second Apple leather case, the first was for my 7+ which lasted 4 years. This is a thin but durable leather cover stretched over a hard and stable plastic structure. I know this because my 7+ case was dropped about 10 times and eventually the cover rubbed off in the corner. The dark blue eventually darkened to midnight blue, but in a good way. I went with black this time and it's more like a dark gray. Both are pleasing to me, but of course that's a personal preference. The interior lining kept the back of my 7+ scratch free. Mostly, I'm happy that they were able to make a very protective case that is thin enough that it doesn't hide the beauty of the phone. Oh the metal buttons are very nice too. Only minor gripe is it's a little tough to reach the silent mode switch with the latest version of the case.

Is this a true Apple product? It looks like it is to me right down to the “Designed in California” printed in the inside and the logo on the back. Yes, out of the box it does feel like some other material but if you look at the corners you can see the bunching up of the leather and after a few days of your hand oils it is clearly leather. I love the buttons! Mine is yellow and the buttons match the color of the case perfectly. Maybe a bit pricey at $40 and not a lot of protection. If you’re prone to dropping your phone this is not for you. BUT the lip on the front allows you to place face down without screen touching the table - even with a glass screen protector on (and everyone should have one of those - has saved my screen several times). The open ended bottom allows you to hear the speakers clearly and no fiddling with a little hole to plug it in. Happy with purchase and the bright color means it’s easier to find as I am constantly misplacing my phone.

Not a bad phone case. I had a dickens of a time trying to find the navy case. I bought this used from Amazon, and there was a minor scuff on the corner - but that was to be expected. However, since it’s real leather, it buffed its way out over time. I wouldn’t say this is going to offer your phone the utmost protection when it comes to drops, but my phone has taken multiple tumbled in this thing, and no shatters yet *knocks on wood* Would recommend even buying a used case, since I believe these to be a great value for what you get. And, at the end of the day, the phone case is going to get used, so it will achieve that status once it goes onto your phone.

Great quality

This is my 4th time buying an Apple case from Amazon and probably my 8-9th Apple leather case in total. I’ve bought 2 directly from Apple. I can definitely say that the ones from Amazon are authentic Apple cases. Apple leather cases aren’t made of straight leather and you should know this going in. If you want a full leather case(those are less durable and more expensive) then this isn’t for you. They’re plastic cases wrapped in thin, high quality leather. Once you get passed that, you now have to accept that this is real leather and the grain you get is completely random, some are flat and sleek, some have more texture. If you really don’t like the grain you got, just ask for a swap, I’m sure Amazon will do it for you and maybe you’ll get a better looking grain more suited to your aesthetic. Finally, now that you have accepted all that... again, it’s real leather, so the color you get won’t be the final result of your case. The natural oils from your hands and daily use will darken and smoothen your leather very quickly within a week or two. You have to be ready for a darker looking case in the end. If you don’t want your color to eventually get darker, go for an Apple silicon case. My personal opinion on the case? This is my 8-9th leather case. I get one for every iPhone I get and I like to shop around and try different cases and always end up sticking with the Apple leather case, nothing beats it. I bought 3 this time for my iPhone 11 Pro Max because I took a Pop Socket off my first one and it tore the leather right off the case(beware of this, there’s nothing wrong with putting on something sticky to the case but if you want to remove it, you should heat it up with a hair dryer first and then slowly remove to avoid peeling off your leagher), the second one was a black one but black just stays black so it’s a rather boring leather so I bought the Saddle Brown since I’ve had that color before, it’s rather ugly at first but once it darkens up, it looks great. Finally, I’ve dropped a lot of iPhones in these leather cases across the generations, I’ve never cracked or damaged an iPhone in one.

Update 03/29/2021 Since I was very satisfied with the first one (reviewed below) I also ordered the blue one. Original review I got the same black leather cover when I purchased my 11 pro max. It has been 1,5 years and there are scratches and some cracks but still very functional. I dropped my ones a few times on the ground and thanks his nothing happened due to the cover. I saw the same case on amazon for half the price I bought and ordered this brown one. Despite some of the reviews I have to say that I received exactly the same I bought at the time of the phone purchase. Leather is smooth but solid enough to protect the phone. Especially the corners. The design is also very nice. For the current price here on amazon (03/27/2021) it’s a great opportunity.

The Apple leather case is likely going to be the best fit and feel with regards to leather cases for the iPhone. Others I’ve tried always feel fake, look fake, or fit horribly. Then they don’t last either. This one looks great, fits great, and lasts several years easy. I end up with a newer iPhone before these cases go bad. Then I just get the current generation leather case for the current generation iPhone and then hand down the previous case and iPhone to my son.

Worked well but don't think many people will be buying now due to its age but it did the job

Wer ein iPhone 11 Pro Max besitzt möchte sein Gerät natürlich auch gut vor eventuellen Beschädigungen schützen, und deshalb holen sich wohl die meisten eine Hülle. Ich habe erst vor einigen Jahren die offiziellen Apple Leder Cases für mich entdeckt, davor fand Ich den hohen Preis sehr abschreckend. Ich hatte bereits für mein iPhone X ein Product RED Leder Case verwendet, und so habe Ich dieses auch für mein neues iPhone 11 Pro Max bestellt. Die Verarbeitung ist, typisch Apple, sehr gut. Die Ecken sind bei meiner Hülle sauber verarbeitet, hier wirft nichts Falten oder ähnliches. Auch die Innenseite wurde super verarbeitet, denn hier wurde eine Mikrofaserschicht in das Leder eingearbeitet. Der Geruch ist in den ersten 1-2 Tagen wohl wegen des Klebers etwas beißend, aber auch nur wenn man aktiv mit der Nase an der Hülle schnuppert. Auch muss man sich im Klaren sein, dass eine Lederhülle nach Benutzung niemals so aussehen wird wie am ersten Tag. Das liegt einfach am Material Leder selbst, denn mit der Zeit zieht der Schmutz, Hautfette der Finger/Hand in die Hülle ein und bilden dadurch eine sogenannte Patina. Damit hat aber auch jede Hülle seine eigene Geschichte und erhält einen "Vintage" Look. Mir gefällt diese Eigenschaft, denn es trägt ein Stück mehr zur Personalisierung bei. Der hohe Preis ist meiner Meinung nach auch gerechtfertigt - hier wird Qualität geliefert wie man sie von den "Kopierern" und anderen Herstellern leider nicht günstiger bekommt.

This case is definitely not something you use daily. I personally use it for special occasions. Think of it as a premium accessory, much like a nice wallet. Not cheap in any way. Super luxurious feeling. Perfect fit. Looks great on a table, in your hand and so on. This case isn’t for heavy duty protection. It’s mainly for the style and pizzazz.

Excellent quality, looks really nice

I’ve owned many cases before from various brands, but nothing compares to the one from Apple. Made by them for their own product, fits the iPhone perfectly, it’s really nice to the touch and you can feel the quality. Update: a year later I purchased another leather case, as the price was too tempting not to (£12!). The original case has held up really well, developed the patina, looks fantastic for its age and usage. The second case however has a different shade of green than the first one (lighter) and different texture and build quality. Also, it feels lighter and the leather seems less durable, more prone to scratches and surface damage. I don’t know what to make of this, maybe the new case is the same like the one from my original purchase, but would have to use it a bit in order to put some wear on the leather.
