Replacement for office printer - very smart
We bought two of these HP printers ti replace larger office models. It was very easy to set up and has a host of very smart features. It has various ways to connect devices for easy printing. The scanner is great and saves file names with accurate descriptions of the document, ie receipt, handwriting etc. It prints quick and produces nice quality colour images. The cartridges are expensive to replace but that is true of a lot of laser machines. Overall very happy!

Exceptional printer, with easy install and set up.
After several years of using an ink jet that served me well, the poor thing finally reached the end of its life and sadly needed to be "retired". I upgraded to this printer as I have been needing to do an increased amount of printing as a result of working from home, and the printing I need to do contains blocks of colour and images, something inkjets can sometimes struggle with. It arrived within around three to four days, which I was impressed with. Installation was very easy, literally plug the power in and turn it on. When on, you can either connect your pc to the printer with the included USB cable, or connect via the WiFi. I connected via the WiFi and the process was quick and simple, press connect, put in your password and you're connected. The toner cartridges are preinstalled so no need to fuss with them to get started. Just be warned, the printer is fairly heavy, I was able to get it upstairs on my own, but others may struggle on their own. Print quality is great, even on its first print run. It's fast, and has built in eco settings which is a boost. All in all, its a great printer for small offices, or even those like me who wanted a powerful and versatile printer for home. Would definitely recommend.

Great Printer from friendly supplier
I have used HP printers for some time, but my 10 year old one was getting very slow so I upgraded to this one and am delighted with the result. The double sided scanning is very quick and works well with my view scan programme. I use the printer through our internet and everyone is delighted with it. I particular like the double sided printing function.

Absolutely unreliable, loses network connectivity and has to be reinstalled
This printer should be great but I've had nothing but trouble with it. It disconnects from wifi and will not reconnect without re-running the wi-fi set-up. the drivers also do not work as standard and additional drivers need to be found by running HP's diagnostic tool so you then have to select something called DO NOT DELETE rather than the printer. For every device you want to connect you have to run the diagnostic tool to install additional drivers. This means you cannot print from a mobile device because the HP diagnostic tool does not run on iPhone etc. Printerland referred me to HP, H said there was nothing wrong because additional drivers are available so won't issue a DOA code so I can't return it for a refund. I'm an IT professional, have worked in the industry for over 30 years, I know my way around a network, I know what I am doing and I've had to give up on this. I'm writing it off as a £356 mistake and buying a Brother printer instead. If anyone wants this one it's free to whoever wants to collect it.

Didn't expect to ever buy a laser printer for home office use, but ...
Purchased this printer to replace an HP OfficeJet Pro 8500A that had poor print quality due to infrequent use and eventually the printheads becoming blocked despite cleaning. Cost of replacing the printheads and ink meant that it was (sadly) more cost effective to look at a replacement. It was at this point I started to look at laser printer rather than inkjet. There are pros/cons for both, so it depends on the expected usage. For me, the factors were a) I print relatively infrequently, b) I do quite a bit of document scanning, and c) when I do print it is typically documents (mostly b/w) rather than photographs. The infrequent printing pushed me towards the laser printer as the problems with the 8500A have been due to the ink drying out. From what I have read, this should not be an issue with toner. Whist the initial purchase price is more than an inkjet (both on initial cost and toner), it appears the overtime the running costs are cheaper (especially if I’m not replacing ink that has evaporated or clogged heads). The unit appears to come with a full black toner (circa 2,400 pages) and introductory colour toners (circa 1,200 pages). Only time will tell. Replacement toner is available in both standard and high capacity. Although the larger capacity is more cost effective, for my requirements the standard toner is going to last me years. Given I do a lot of scanning the single-pass duplex (2-sided) scanning ADF is a nice feature. I put a test using a 27-page double sided document and it scanned all 54 pages in under 2 minutes from start to finish. The scan quality exceeds that of the 8500A. Set-up was a doddle. Plugged it into the network and that was it and answered a couple of simple questions on the display (language, country, time). MacOS machines found and added the new printer automatically. Do like the two trays that allow me to insert envelopes in without need to change the main tray So, to print quality. Very satisfied. Photos are not as good as an inkjet, but you should expect that. Nevertheless, they are reasonable for occasional use. However it is documents and presentations are where it really shines. Text is very sharp and easy to read. Compared to my old inkjet this thing is fast. About 10 seconds before it starts printing and then it just rattles through page after page, even with duplex printing. Compared to the old inkjet this is relatively quiet. Only downside so far is the slight smell of toner after printing. Not sure if this is because it is new or to be expected. Have plugged it into a phone line for the fax functionality, but in all honesty I can’t remember the last time I ever received or had the need to send a fax, so I can’t comment on the machines fax abilities. Final word. Although I purchased this through Amazon/Amazon Marketplace, it is worth a visit to the HP website as they often run offers. I was able to claim back £90 (nearly 30% of the purchase price) from HP just for filling in a form.

Good product
Good product for such money. However the Application is not such intuitive as tem were before for HPs. That is why overall rating is one star less. Also the cardboard box it was damaged when arrived.

What a printer!
Upgraded to this from an inkjet printer. What a difference it has made in productivity. Prints are crisp and detailed and this thing prints fast! Should have upgraded years ago. The only down side is the cost of the toner cartridges.

Very costly product. You can't user it for commercial purpose because per page printing cost is very high.
