Weber 65131 Ash Catcher Assembly for 18-1/2" One Touch Kettle Grills

This ash basket works great for the 18.5” Weber kettle. I bought my Weber kettle in 2021 and this basket snapped into place without any issue. I couldn’t find this basket on the official Weber website and it came in a plain box with no Weber markings or instructions. Regardless, it’s high quality and looks similar to the larger version for the 22.5” kettle. I highly recommend!

Here's my 25+ year old Smokey Joe 14 inch. The wire legs and "Pizza Pan" ash pan disappeared years ago. I built new legs out of 5/8 inch all thread rod. The new ash catcher is secured by it's mounting tabs held captive between two nuts on the all thread legs. I hope the pics are self explanatory. It's not "One touch" as there's no "Propeller" inside the kettle to sweep the ashes. You still have to sweep the ashes from the kettle into the three holes. The damper adjustment handle in the pic is the standard "Hole/nut/all thread/nut/handle" thing that lots of guys do (Basically, a long bolt through the aluminum damper adjuster tab). I threaded the walnut handle internally. The nut keeps it snug.If I were installing this on the 18 inch model I would imagine it would be about a five minute job since the mounting slots are already there on that model kettle. This is a well built part and the mounting is well engineered. Simple and secure. And apparently, modifiable to fit other kettles.

The ash can did not fit the ring. Parts were for two different models of the Weber kettle. Instead of connecting the two parts before putting it in the box, the shipper place the can on top of the ring and stuffed it in a box that looked like it had been used many times.

Perfect fit

A simple replacement for the open, shallow pan from my old Weber kettle. It's 24 yrs old & I was afraid that I would have to do some jury rigging to make it fit. But it was just a simple R&R!!Now I can safely grill even on windier days & not worry about the breeze scattering live ashes & starting a wild fire. Always a worry for us here in California.

Easily installed (in < 5 minutes) on 18” Weber kettle. No more blowing ashes & embers :)

Fits like a glove on my 18 inch original kettle! Its a must upgrade. I know why not just buy the more premium 22inch kettle which already equipped with this ash catcher. Not everyone wants a 22 inch kettle. I love the my 18 inch kettle perfect for small family. But the only missing is this ash catcher!

I was lucky enough to grab a used one on here, but it looked brand new! Given that my 18” Weber is an older model I did a few mods that I seen on YouTube and that was putting metal hose clamps to better secure it. Since the newer style of Weber grills are set up for a ash catcher mod already, even if your newer Weber doesn’t already have one.
