Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry

Ok so biochemistry is no joke, I've never read a text book for lecture until I took biochemistry. This book does a really good job of giving pictures to describe the text. The subtext underneath the pictures are probably the most important and helpful parts of this book. The textbook give you a lot of information, but they cover the biology and chemistry aspect of each concept. It's a really good textbook if you are taking biochemistry. I am not one to buy the textbooks, I generally avoid it if I can. But I would strongly suggest getting this book, it definitely helps you for the class. It clearly explains all the definitions and has illustrations to go with it. The questions at the end of each chapter are life savers, because ALL the answers are in the back of the book. There is also a glossary in the back to help with definitions.

Biochemistry was a tough subject and I'm not one that really likes learning from textbooks so this book didn't really help me a whole lot. I probably used it 3 times in a semester. However, when I did use it, the book was very helpful. I thought the pictures and explanations were very clear and concise. My professor didn't really use the book at all so it didn't help me much to read it either. However, the parts that I did read were quite helpful and I didn't have any issues with it. The only reason I give it 4 starts instead of 5 is because I feel like there was a lot of extra material that wasn't very helpful. The figures in the book, along with their explanations were very helpful but the regular text was pretty dense and difficult to understand. And I imagine it's not necessary to know for most undergraduate biochemistry courses.

Amazingly well-written Biochemistry text. I'm returning to the subject for a graduate course after a few years off as a student. Easy to understand, relevant illustrations, and helpful examples. My one disappointment is that the answers for end-of-chapter exercises are given but not thoroughly explained - the accompanying guidebook needs to be purchased if you want to know how to solve the problems. Other than that, this resource is exemplary!

It is biochem book for a college level course. How much more do you want? You want colorful pictures? Boom got it! You want a tome of big words about small things? Boom got it! You want a book that encourages complaining about work load? Boom got it! But honestly if you are reading you are already going to buy this book because that one chart on pg 64 is kinda useful.

I agree with several other people. The content is there, and the book is written well, but the print quality is just horrid. The text is USUALLY fine, but the pictures are usually not. There are entire pages that are blurry, or the image colors don't line up. One page looked like a bad powerpoint 3d text font thing. There were shadows under every word on the page.

I didn't get to read it all, and I'm not a huge fan of biochemistry, but this book is an extremely interesting read, even if you aren't taking a class. I get bored by books easy, especially school books. But the approach is very interesting, and the author gives a lot of real life, relatable examples to biochemical principles covered in the book. It's the most excellent textbook on the subject I've ever been forced to read, that's for sure!

for a long time now I am trying to study this material using YouTube and other academic book; But nothing could really compare to this life saving book!!! If you have self discipline and you are studying this complicated subject on your own, this is the book for you! it incredibly simplifies complex concepts. Thank god for Lehninger and Co. :)

Arrived nice and early and was packaged well to avoid damage. Everything is fine with it - also a really useful book for my biochemistry module at uni.

Whatever the edition is no doubt no other book can compete with lehninger.. However I get this book with some difficulties but I am satisfied now..and just want to request do try to send ordered books at time

This is a beautiful book that figures are understandable and article are also clear to sutudy.

Biochemie wurde von mir von Anfang an völlig falsch eingeschätzt. Als dann noch ein anderer Prof den restlichen Teil der Vorlesung mit Biophysik Schwerpunkt abhielt hielt ich mich dann auch von der Uni fern. Der erste Versuch der Prüfung war damit ein glatter Reinfall. Also: Nachholen. Ein Buch musste her, die Deutsche Ausgabe etwas in die Jahre gekommen kam grad, sogar noch günstiger als die alte Deutsche Ausgabe, die Sixth Edition des englischen Originals heraus. 2 oder 3 Wochen vor dem Zweiten Prüfungsfenster. Zeitlich reichte das zwar nicht mehr um ein ganzes Buch zu lesen, insbesondere wenn man nebenbei noch ein Praktikum an der Uni hat, aber 200-300 Seiten zu den Klausurthemen überfliegen passten gut in den Zeitplan. Von Nicht bestanden auf 1,7, wäre ich nicht so schusselig gewesen wäre 1,0 auch locker drin gewesen, ich bin schlichtweg begeistert, wie toll diese Buch geschrieben ist und wie verständlich es ist. Ich kaufe mittlerweile nur noch englische Lehrbücher, es sei denn das Original wurde auf Deutsch verfasst. Die Art und Weise, wie an den Stoff heran gegangen wird ist gänzlich anders und, verglichen mit der drögen deutschen Didaktik, brilliant!
