The BMV shunt is full system monitoring (in and outflow of current). Smartsolar MPPTs simply display incoming current from solar panels accessible through the Victron mobile app. The BMV is a digital readout which includes a smartshunt. You could allow access the smarshunt data through the mobile app and eliminate the BMV display.
