Gator Bush Machete

This machete is a really solid tool. It is heavy; so the first day out chopping all day is rough. My wrist and arm both were sore when I started using it. It is also tough to sharpen, but it holds its edge much longer than my other machetes. The extra heft comes in handy when a tree needs to come down.

So I live in the US Virgin Islands. We survived 2 category 5 hurricanes, I have been wielding a machete for weeks. I ordered this to replace my Home Depot $20 one. This thing is worth every penny. Great weight, heavy but the weight is incredible. Thick back edge of the blade so it's durability is great. It comes with a great factory edge so no need to hit it with a file or stone. The length is good, and the sheath seems quite durable. All in all I can say this machete surpassed and survived the hurricane apocalypse. I would like to order several more.

This is a pretty good tool. Not excellent, but pretty good. Okay, so I reworked the edge (I always rework factory edges) and attempt to hack various small trees and vines growing on my property in east Texas without great luck. If you are rolling your eyes and nodding you get it. Anyway, it's one of many choppers that I have used on my chunk of land and it could be better. If you're a collector and just need a decent machete in your collection it's great. If you're hacking rubbery green, growing, and thorny vine that is trying to take over your yard a foot at a time, get something with a thicker spine and deeper/heavier blade; various Kukris and Parangs (Condor makes great Parangs) are far more effective. There ya go...collectors will love it, and they should; land owners who need to control Mother Nature (or believe that we actually can) can do better.

For the price, you'd better be getting a better blade than those cheap $8 at Walmart, but you really do. I bought a sog machete in the past and it snapped into to piece while chopping a stick. But this one is holding up well and stays sharp enough to trim my bushes with it. I also like that the rubberized handle and the lanyard keep me from flinging my machete in the neighbors yard. The sheathe is one of the better ones I have tried out too, and seems to have a plastic insert to keep its shape rigid.

This is a rather large machete, with a good heft. This will make for a great survival tool. I'll have to test it out on a future camping trip.

It's nice just rolls in your hand when chopping but it doesn't chop like you'd think it would they need to take like 40 dollars off the price

This is an even better revision than their old model of machete. The blade of this unit is thicker and more sturdy. With it's added weight from the thickness of the blade it is really easy to cut through branches and brush with greater ease. A very well made machete indeed.

Cuts through weeds, grass, and any other vegetation. Had a strong strap at the wrist. Great buy and much cheaper than buying in the store

Good thick blade and nice sheath

Ich konnte die Gerber Bush Machete heute endlich mal in Ruhe bei einer mehrstündigen Waldschrataktion testen. Funktion: Die Machete kam in einem für Outdooraktion ausreichend geschärften Zustand an. Rasieren war nicht möglich. Zumindest nicht am Körper, aber dazu gleich mehr. Zunächst musste ich mich durch ein hochgewachsenes Feld hinter unserer Wohnung schlagen. Die Machete ist eindeutig weniger für Wiesen geeignet und durch das Gewicht ermüdet der Arm auf Dauer etwas, wenn man sich durch Wiesengestrüpp schlagen will. Im Wald angelangt ging es dann aber gleich los. Alles ab einer dicke von ca. 0,5 cm durchschlägt die Machete mit einem Hieb. Egal ob umgefallene dünnere Bäume, Brombeersträucher oder Astwucherungen. Man kommt damit bestimmt auch im Dschungel überall durch. Dazu werde ich aber extra berichten. Anschließend ging es an den Lagerbau und ans Feuerholz machen. Mit wenigen Hieben sind tote Bäume mit Unterarmdurchmesser gefällt. Das Hauptgewicht liegt im vorderen Bereich der Klinge. Hier zugeschlagen entfaltet die Machete die größte Durchlagskraft. Entasten ist dank der im Vergleich zu den meisten Äxten dünneren Klinge ein Traum. Ebenso lässt sich dann der gestückelte Baum bis hin zu fingerdicken Scheiten spalten. Schnitzen und das fertigen von Feathersticks ist ebensomöglich und ich finde durch das Gewicht teilweise leichter als mit einem Messer. Handhabung: Wie gesagt hat die Machete ein höheres Gewicht das aber optimal und ausgewogen ausfällt, sodass auch wenig Schwung einen großen Durchschlag erzielt. Auch habe ich nichts gegen etwas muskulösere Arme, aber wie gesagt merkt man durch das wunderbare Balancing das Gewicht nicht so sehr. Der Griff hat mir allerdings eine schöne Blase an der Hand verschafft und habe deshalb Paracord darum gewickelt. Brauche noch etwas Hornhaut an der Stelle 😀 Schön ist auch wie gesagt, dass auch feinere Arbeiten damit möglich sind. Ich habe meine Säge und mein Messer komplett in der Tasche lassen können. Meine Silky Klappsäge werde ich wohl nur noch rausholen wenn es sein muss, denn die lässt sich nicht so.ohne weiteres nachschärfen. Mit dem Messer/Axtschärfer habe ich am Ende dann adie Klinge noch soweit schärfen können, dass ich mir meine Haare am Unterarm abgesäbelt habe. Ein tolles Teil, nie wieder Äxte, die bei gleicher Wirkung meist schwerer sind und mehr Kraft benötigen.

Ottimo prodotto, filo buono (certo non è un bisturi, ma taglia benissimo x essere un machete), anzi fin troppo affilato e appuntito (da prestare massima attenzione x la lunghezza, taglia vestiti e cute appena li tocca, esperienza purtroppo fatta accidentalmente). Ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo. Fodero buono con un gancio (e non asola) per appenderlo alla cintura. È impressionante comunque, è una mezza spada quando si tiene in mano.
