Legacy WP

I wanted an astronomy binocular for wide field observing, something to complement my telescopes and a binocular with a wider field of view than my (similarly exemplary) Celestron 15x70 Skymasters. I researched every price-comparable 8x40/8x42 porro prism binocular out there and this Legacy seemed the pick of the litter. It arrived yesterday and I actually had a 15-minute clear night sky window here in Western Oregon where this time of year we get about one a week. Maybe. So I was able to do a short test drive, but one long enough to tell me that I made the right choice. The optics are just flat out superb——the stars almost impossibly tiny, sharp pinpoints and the images way brighter than I expected from 42mm objective lenses. The Legacy is light, the rubberized coating feels great in the hands, just a delight to use. Fit, finish, build quality are first-rate; this binocular has a look and feel that says Solid, Substantial. Okay, so what did I see? First off M45, the Pleiades, the most magnificent cluster in the heavens. I was able to detect the Alcyone double (one large bright dot with a much smaller one so close as to be almost attached, but still the separation was visible) and even the lovely little 6-star string known as Ally's Braid that descends from just below Alcyone. So gorgeous a sight that I had to force myself to move on as the clouds were already moving in from the west. Next up, the entire main triangle of Cassiopeia and the myriad stars in and around it, followed by a quick peek at Orion which was just emerging from the large fir tree wall to the east of my patio. I was able to fit the entire bottom half of this constellation in a single field of view: all three bright belt stars and all of Orion's sword including the main feature M42 in all its star-gassy glory. That's a LOT of celestial turf to see all at the same time, and with outstanding resolution. That's it. While I was traipsing around Orion, the clouds took over and erased everything so I came in. Came in totally satisfied at a binocular for which I had high expectations and that exceeded them. I may post an addendum here later once I have had a more extensive session with these Legacys. But the verdict at this point is that for the combination of value and performance, this binocular is a solid 10.

Formerly the Baush & Lomb 10x50 Legacy binocular now under the Bushnell brand name and now waterproof. The image quality is top notch a little heavy but this is because these are high quality binoculars, no problem for me. Back in the day the B&L legacy where regarded as one of the best binoculars in its class and now under the Bushnell brand name they dont dissapoint. The focuser wheel is very good, they have a tripod screw hole and are Nitrogen filled waterproofed. They have a nice feeling to the touch rubber armor that protects the binocular. They came with a soft case and a basic bino strap that I replaced with an Optech USA one. I bought them on amazon warehouse on "good" condition but they came Like new in their original box. I highly recommend this binocular for their high quiality optics and excelent price.

I bought a cheaper brand that I could not get to focus properly. They were 10-30X50. I had to return them. So, I bought these Bushnell Binoculars instead. Crisp clean view and able to focus pretty well. If you put them on a tripod with the separate attachment that you can buy they are very crisp and clear on the tripod out to 22X magnification. I was going to buy a spotting scope but saw these and decided to get these instead. Cheaper and you will be able to see out to 100 plus yards at the shooting range. also if you get a cheap phone attachment it works well and your phone will give you another 8X zoom or whatever your phone can zoom too. Very good construction quality. They feel solid in your hands. The other model that i purchased and had to return were lighter but not as solid and some of the parts on them were low grade plastic and they flexed at the zoom knob. I believe that is why that could not focus properly. But the Bushnell model is solid and focuses very good. Also, the carry bag is good enough and the lens caps are fine. You can get other bags or shoulder straps if you plan on using them for hunting. If you are a bird watcher then you may only need a tripod and tripod adapter for the 22X zoom. Its hard to hold a steady image when you have it magnified to 22X. but that is true for anything past 14X magnification. All in all I would say these are the best budget binoculars you will find with the highest magnification at 22X. Plus the prism rating is BAK4. Most lower end budget binoculars are BAK7. BAK4 is more clear. BAK7 is ok but gets blurred on the edges. If you are looking for bird watching, hunting or Range spotter binoculars you cant go wrong with these Bushnell 10-22X50 Binoculars at this price point. Not the best on the market but I believe they are the best at this price point.

Bushnell Legacy WP 10 x 50 Binocular I recently purchased the Bushnell Legacy WP 10 x 50 binoculars from Amazon to replace my Pentax binoculars which were stolen from me. My Pentax binocs had been perfectly fine, but I wanted to give Bushnell a try. I was attracted to this particular Bushnell product due to their product description, regarding their use of "fully multi-coated" optics, and premium BaK-4 prisms. The included di-opter adjustment for the right side eye piece was also an important requirement for me. My primary purpose for binoculars is for star gazing at night, but I also use them frequently for terrestrial viewing, and for viewing high flying aircraft as well. In the short time I have had them, I have already viewed the Moon, planets Mars, Jupiter- including its four large Galilean moons- Callisto, Europa, Ganymede and Io. I have viewed planet Venus, the Bushnells enabling me to detect Venus in its crescent phase. I have also viewed the Orion Nebulae in the constellation Orion, the Bushnells enabling me to detect the cloudy / fuzzy appearance of the nebulae. The Pleiades Star Cluster is also a joy to view through the Bushnells. I would caution or advise that one should have a steady hand when using any brand of 10 x 50 binocular. The 10 power magnification will make for a bit of a shaky image unless you are able to hold them as still as possible. Holding your breath for moments at a time while viewing may help, as well as bracing yourself and / or the binoculars against some sort of solid support. A mounting tri-pod / stand would also be an option. I was aware of this potential 10 power viewing problem going in to my purchase, and so I am fine with the consequences of hand holding them and am able to make do just fine. For some, a wiser choice may be to go with a 7 x 50 or 8 x 50 binocular, where the lower magnification power will aid some in minimizing a shaky image. Over all, I am very happy with the performance of my new Bushnell Legacy WP 10 x 50s. The product looks handsome and appears to be very well made. The images come through crisp and clear. The price is very reasonable in my opinion. ...looking forward to many years of enjoyable use with my new Bushnells. Rick G.

I like the binoculars. The lens caps could be improved upon for the price of these.

We recently purchased Bushnell Legacy WP 8x42 ($83 on Amazon) and Nikon Monarch5 ($246 on Amazon) binoculars. In side-by-side testing the image quality and the built quality of the Bushnell (poro prism design) are very similar to that of the Nikon (roof prism design). The most notable difference is weight and size. The Nikons are much smaller (due to the roof prism design) and the 21 oz (1.5 lb) feels much lighter than the 25 oz (2.0 lb) Bushnell. The Nikon has a 6.4 degree FOV (51 degree apparent FOV and the image sharpness falls off outside of a 5 degree diameter (80%). This is very good. The Bushnell FOV is 8.2 degree (65 degree apparent FOV) is considerable larger than that of the Nikon, but the sharpness falls off outside of a 5 degree diameter (64%). When wearing glasses the usable FOV of the Bushnell and the Nikon is the almost the same due to the better eye relief of the Nikon. The image quality of the Nikon and the Bushnell based on stars is similar and excellent, but the response to making focus adjustments with the Bushnell is not as crisp as with the Nikon. The much larger separation of the objective lenses of the Bushnell (due to the poro prism design) make for much more 3D viewing of landscapes that the Nikon (roof prism design). The Nikon and the Bushnell both have a ¼-20 threads to attach to a tripod, but the wider separation of the objective lenses make the attachment to a tripod easier for the Bushnell. The protective eyepiece caps of the Bushnell fit just right, while those of the Nikon are too big and tend to fall off too easily. The Nikon have permanently attached objective lens covers, while the individual Bushnell covers are likely to be misplaced or lost. For bird viewing the Nikon focus as close as 6 ft, while the Bushnell focus only as close as 12 ft. Viewing the Orion region with either binocular is an inspiring experience, but more so with the Bushnell’s larger FOV. Image brightness of the Nikon and the Bushnell, as judged by the ability to see faint stars in the Orion region, is the same. Unless name, lower weight, compactness and close focus are over-riding considerations, the Bushnell, at 30% of the prize of the Nikon, is the much better deal.

I had been shopping for good binoculars for over a month. I checked everywhere and read hundreds of reviews. Of course, you have to take most of them with a grain of salt. The main thing I was shopping for were water/fog proof binos that were at least 10 power. What I really wanted were zoom capable and not spend a fortune. When I saw these, I looked at every review, good or bad. I have a set of Bushnell binos that I bought in 1985 and have been pleased with them. Their only con is that they are not water/fog proof, plus the flip down eye pieces wore out and tore off after years of flipping them up and down (I used to wear glasses). So I figured I would give these a chance and, the price was right where I wanted to be. I cannot yet comment on the water/fog proof capability, because I live in southern Arizona and we haven't had much rain nor do we have extreme temperature changes. But I can say that these Bushnells are truly wonderful. They are clear at all levels. As you can see in the pictures, the hill side was taken with a cell phone camera through a lense of the bino at full zoom. The other is just a picture with the cell phone. They were taken at Yellowstone at the end of September 2018. I don't know the exact distance, but I would guess it was at least 1000 yards. I do see a little distortion on the edges, but how often do you put your target on the edge? The bottom line is that if you're not willing to spend a ton of money on high end binoculars, these are the ones to get. I don't think you will be disappointed.

I wanted a pair of binoculars to use when solo shooting my Colt M4 at the rifle range, to see where my shots landed on the target relative to my aim point. I also wanted a pair of binoculars to use when hunting, to get "up close to the action" at football games without having to buy the more expensive (and usually unavailable) seats closer to the playing field. Finally, I wanted a good pair of binoculars to go along with my BOB and my WTSHTF carried gear. The 8X magnification power and 42 mm objective lens diameter seemed to be a good optics combination for my uses. For my use outdoors in Southern Louisiana, full (rubber) case armor protection with a non-slip surface, a 100% waterproof case, 100% fog-proof lenses, multi-coated lenses for improved light gathering, center focus adjustment, twist-up rubber eye cups, and long eye relief were must-have features. I also didn't want really large/heavy binoculars hanging around my neck or adding to the total weight of my carried gear Spending more than $150.00 for a pair of binoculars seemed excessive to me, since they wouldn't be used extensively, several times a month, year-round, I decided to find the best binoculars at or under $100.00 that had my required features. When I combined info from Amazon.com and other online sellers' user's reviews and some "outdoors" monthly magazine binocular reviews, the Bushnell Legacy WP 8x42 binoculars consistently came out in either first place or a very close second place. With that data and Amazon.com's very competitive price (which easily beat the "best" sale prices from Wally-world and the well-known sporting goods/hunting gear stores), I ordered my Bushnell Legacy WP 8x42 binoculars from Amazon.com and received them right away with Amazon Prime. When my Bushnell Legacy WP 8x42 binoculars arrived, with their soft, cushioned case, adjustable neck strap and cleaning cloth, I wanted to see if that Bushnell case, with the binoculars and everything else inside it would fit inside a Condor MOLLE Large Utility Accessory Pouch. It was a snug fit, but everything did fit, and the synergy gained by using the two products together increased the usability of the binoculars. The soft, cushioned Bushnell case provides some additional cushioning for my binoculars when the going gets rough, and the MOLLE attachment capability of the Condor Large Utility Accessory Pouch lets me position my binoculars securely on my gear where I can get to them quickly when needed, without having my binoculars bouncing around on a neck strap, hitting me in the face or banging off my M4 when I run. But I digress . . . . . and I'm back to the review of the binoculars! I haven't had a lot of opportunities to use my Bushnell Legacy WP 8x42 yet, but the limited number of times I did use them, they were simple to learn how to use, to quickly and accurately get them focused on my target, both while wearing my no-line bifocal eyeglasses and protective shooting glasses, just my no-line bifocals, or with no eyeglasses at all. The 8x magnification power and 42 mm objective lens diameter give me the best combination of magnification and clarity for the distances I typically shoot with my M4, which was what I wanted in the first place! That's why the Bushnell Legacy WP 8x42 Binoculars I bought on Amazon.com earned their 5-star rating from me. I like them, and If you decide to buy them, I hope you will like them, too!

It's very robustly built, and it's optics are bright. It's not as good as other binoculars I've tried but I got this one for a very good price. I carried it up a mountain, no problems with condensation. It's much much better then any department store binocular I've ever had. But it does not come close to Kite, Leica, Vortex or the higher Pentax or Nikon models. It's notacibly better then a Bressier Hunter or Olympus DPS-I. Pro: Water and dust resistant Bright optics Solidly built High field of view Con: Not as sharp at the edges Colors are not that great Not as sharp as some other more expensive models I paid €65.

アメリカの光学メーカーで余り馴染みは ないのかも知れませんが、よく見えます 今までコストパフォーマンスを目安に 双眼鏡を選んできましたが、フジノン KFシリーズの8×42くらいコストパフォーマンスはいいです（購入時は13000くらい) 今回も13400円くらいでした まぁ高級機を使ったことがないので 皆さんみたいなレビューは書けませんが 私的には今まで買った双眼鏡の中で一番良く 見えるので満足しています

Arrived faulty, double vision. Were returned without any problem and refund given, but still disappointing.
