Kreg K4MS Jig Master System , Blue

Great system, I have borrowed friends Jigs many times. Finally bought my own and couldn't be happier. Easy to use, but keep in mind I did have someone show me prior to the purchase but it seems if I were to learn on my own it would be easy with a YouTube video. I feel the price is fair, you are getting some high quality parts and you do have to pay for quality and precision manufacturing. If I were to complain about something, it would have been nice to have included a spare drill bit as well as the square drive bits. Nice to always have a back up because you never know what might happen in the middle of a project. The included screws are not worth much as you will have to purchase them anyway i you want to actually build something, Kreg, eliminate the 'sample screws' and give some backup bits!! Update: As mentioned above, this system is great! If there is one small problem with the system are the included square drive bits, they are cheap and don't grip the screws well and can easily round off. You are better off getting an different brand square drive bit, spend a little more on them and you will be much happier.!

THE KIT: Like many before me, shortly after purchasing a house (my first), I purchased this Kreg Jig for DIY projects around the new home. The K4MS Jig Master System was instrumental in building a workbench, a few different jigs, and even cabinet carcasses. It's important to keep in mind, however, that pocket-screw joinery is not the end-all solution. If you're new to woodworking (like I was), I highly recommend you read up on wood movement until you have a good understanding of when a different type of joinery may be more appropriate for your project. You should also spend the time to watch the included DVD, as it should keep you from making critical mistakes while you learn to use the jig. This jig is for 2"x4"s and smaller. You'll need the HD jig for larger projects. THE CLAMP: I find myself using the included clamp on just about every project, regardless of whether the Kreg Jig was used or not. It is great for holding your work down while you work. I've even gone as far as purchasing 2 additional Kreg AutoMaxx clamps (self-adjusting!), and find Kreg's clamps to be the nicest I've ever used) KREG'S CUSTOMER SERVICE: Kreg's customer service is EXCELLENT. My kit came with a faulty collar (the metal piece that locks in your depth on the drill bit), which caused me to drill minor holes through the bottom of the plastic base on a couple of occasions when it slipped. However, that has not hindered the performance of the jig. I e-mailed Kreg about the problem, and they sent me a new jig in a few short days! I still have not had to use the replacement base, and have only needed the new collar.

I remember seeing the Kreg system years ago. Their recent marketing efforts got the best of me. I purchased the Master system so I could have a versatile set. My fist task was to butt join laminated boards to make a shelf. I tried it and it worked very well. I joined 3 laminate shelves (9in X 34in X 3/4in) together. I created 5 joints across the length and was surprised that the boards stayed together and the joint was strong. I grasped one board and there was no flexing at the joints. The Kreg system really works! You will have to use tight clamping pressure to make the joint perfect. I was only off about 1/16th on a few of the connections so next time I will increase the pressure on the clamp, but the overall job turned out really great for my first time. You will have to have a vacuum handy (or use the vacuum attachment)as there is a lot of saw dust created. The dust will get on the base of the jig on the clamping side so you will have to brush it away often so the bit makes a perfect hole for joining. I wish I had purchased this tool years ago. I would not have had to struggle joining wood together. This jig and my new Dewalt DCS895 impact drill are going to be life long buddies on all my future building tasks.

If you do any kind of woodworking joinery, the Kreg will make your life easier. I have used this jig to build: - a crosscut sled for my table saw (.75" birch ply) - walnut cabinets for my master bath (.75" walnut, .75" birch ply) - amp cabinet enclosure for a red-knob Fender twin (.75" birch ply) - Speaker enclosure for another guitar amp (.75" birch ply) - A bathtub surround for a whirlpool tub (1.5" 2x4's and 2x6's, some 22.5 degree angles) - others This is hands-down the easiest method to join pieces I have ever used. Pros: + It will join pieces at a 0 degree angle and at a right angle. + it will join pieces at any other angle + works with material thicknesses up to 1.5" (2x4's etc) + it is SUPER EASY and intuitive to use + When joining the pieces, the screws pull the pieces together, so sometimes clamps and glue aren't necessary if face alignment isn't critical. + the screws are cheap and readily available (Amazon, HomeDepot, Lowes, Woodcraft, etc) + The joints are strong Cons: - While the face-clamp is crucial for alignment, it's not always enough... the screws pull and will often pull stronger than this clamp. Therefore, I use a bar or pipe clamp across the long dimension to hold things absolutely still when driving the screws - It becomes cumbersome to move the jig several times on long pieces. (they do sell pocket hole machines for production, but $$$) - I only use pocket joinery on joints that either will be invisible, or I don't care if the holes are visible. I haven't had good experience with the plugs. - The stop ring has slipped on me a few times, causing me to drill a few holes in my jig, and through my workpiece. If you see blue plastic in the sawdust, you'll know. To summarize: I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS JIG ENOUGH! It is a huge time/headache-saver. I'd pay twice this much for it in a heartbeat.

Test - I have been building wood shelving in our basement for the past 6 months, lol! I know, its taking forever to finish - hear about it almost daily from you know who! Anyway, this Kreg jig system is a lifesaver! The first time you use the jig, take your time and make sure you have everything lined up for what you're working on - shelving is repetitive and having the jig setup on a table or workbench is very handy! You will blaze through the joints and everything will line up. Make sure you pick up a box of the Kreg screws - makes the wood joints rock solid and really secures everything nice and tight. 🏁---Pros---🏁 📌 Nice quality 📌 Comes with everything needed for a strong 📌 Clamp is very handy 📌 Portable use ☣---Cons---☣ 📌 Customer service has gone down hill! I have been buying Kreg products for years and when I called to ask about buying a hard storage case, the guy who answered was very rude - told me to buy it online and hung up! ░░░░░Overall, Kreg has always produced some of the best woodworking tools around. I was disappointed when I called in to ask about getting a storage case for my kit - guy hung up on me and said that I could buy it online. Really? I knocked them a star for their customer service. The K4 Jig system itself is awesome! I have been very impressed with the way it joins 2x4's together and how sturdy the shelves are. Great product and I hope that they can improve on the customer service.░░░░░

Absolutely love this thing. I do a fair amount of projects around the house including building custom pieces. When I first saw this system it peeked my interest but I didn't initially buy one. It took me a couple of years to come around. Now that I own one I can't believe I didn't buy one sooner. I recently framed a couple of walls in my house and used this to secure some of the studs. I worked terrific and the studs are very stable. I did use a framing nailer for most of it but get it in a number of places, this made the job a piece of cake. The system is easy to put together and set the proper depth for the piece you're working on. The drill comes with a donut that locks on to the drill bit with a set screw so you only drill to the correct depth. It's made of a sturdy blue plastic. The clamp is also very well made. I also ordered the Kreg SK03 Pocket-Hole Screw Kit in 5 Sizes so I would be sure to have enough screws. Kreg also sends me emails of different projects that you can use the Kreg system to build. Nice touch! Pros: Very easy to setup - comes with a dvd with step by step instructions Very easy to use Nice storage case Very versatile Cons: None

I read alot of reviews both on the Kreg tools website, here on amazon, and many other locations before purchasing this system. I recently have been wanting to start building stuff in my house as far as furniture and things like that go. Saw the commercial for this system on the TV a couple months ago and started doing my research into the product and coming up with ideas on how to use it. Kreg has made a great system and yes they need to rethink the box a little bit (ok alot) but I still give it 5 stars because I rate the company along with the product. If you go to the website ([...]) and look into the free plans available they have some nice plans in there including a little "workbench" for this system and it can be mounted or portable. I have already made the actual workbench from the plans listed on their website and it only took me 3.5 hours to get it all together. Not bad I think for someone who is just starting up. My cuts with the saw couldve been better but I was using 2 tires and a cinder block as my work space. If i can make a recommendation for the beginning people out there that want to buy this to get started. I would say do it but make sure you have either an 18V drill or a good corded drill. I rendered my 9.6V BD cordless drill somewhat inop for outdoor things...primary use now is indoors :-D. So I went out and bought a corded drill from Home Depot (Dewalt DWD110K 7.0 amp) and let me tell you that it made the time to completion that much faster. Now that the workbench is done I am going to make my "stand" for the jig and then I can continue with my other projects. Hope this was helpful.

The Kreg K4MS is the latest and most comprehensive set, yet. It really has everthing you need to start your projects, easily and rampidly with exception, you have your own power drill, some type of level, clean surface in which to work. To develop further , I am looking foward to getting some of Kreg's varied other clamps,..........and if, your intention is to build QUALITY projects Kreg screws are worth picking up in droves. The DVD is great at showing u what u need to know and pointing you out to some inovative ideas you did'nt know yet. The construction of the components in this INovative tool kit are well made,if used and cared for properly like most other tools. All you need is nice surfaced wood and well laid plans and you can run ramp"D with creations. Amazon makes it easy because they have just about all the other Kreg tools you'll want to expand on build larger expansive projects or skills,....without busting the bank @ blockbuster prices, sweet.I have some past experience as a very skilled cabinet maker and I am impressed with how simple this tool system is and how much you can grow and integrate your own direction and aprroach with other wood working tools to building projects of your own, quickly, too!

Its most helpful and really making my work very easier

This is a great piece of kit which makes joining things like table legs and bookcase shelves much speedier and more accurate than traditional methods.If you are toying with the idea of getting one, just go for it, you will not be disappointed. I do have a couple of little niggles however. The first is that the Kreg screws are a little on the expensive side. My second gripe is not with the kit, but with the supplier. I ordered this from Toolman and the delivery was very quick, however on the box it said that there was a free Kreg mini inside......there wasn't. I have sent two emails via Amazon to Toolman, but they haven't replied to either. I will give the Kreg tool 5 stars but only one star for Toolman. Does anyone know how to review the seller ?
