If your children love dogs and a good storie this book is for you. I read this to my daughter nightly and she looks forward to it. I do think it’s geared a little more towards girls. My daughter is 7 and loves animals. Rap dogs.

Sweet, insightful book for readers at all levels
Wish by Barabara O'Connor was one of my favorite reads last year, and so I was very excited for her new novel. It did not disappoint. I loved the chapters written from Henry the dog's point of view. I loved the difference between the two main characters, Mavis and Rose, and how the story was told through both of their perspectives. This is a sweet story about unlikely friendships, finding the courage to stand up for yourself, and what it means to be a friend. As a reading intervention teacher, I love that this story is written simply enough for all of my readers to enjoy, but yet touches on deep, complex human issues. This story can reach readers of all abilities and ages- perfect for any library shelf. #LitReviewCrew

Another winner from Barbara O'Connor!
Wonderland is another beautiful, heartwarming middle grade novel from Barbara O’Connor. It’s the story of two girls from very different backgrounds who are united by one thing – the need for a best friend. Their tale of building trust, and uniting for a good cause (there’s a dog involved!) takes the reader on a sweet journey into the world of adolescent friendships. There’s also an elderly character who is so endearing. With a strong Southern voice, and a compelling arc, this is a book for anybody who loves classic MG!

Fun Summer Adventure Novel
Mavis is always moving houses, towns, & schools following her mother's next “big” job. It’s not until Mavis lands in Magnolia Estates that she is determined to finally have a permanent home with a real best friend. Mavis is loud, fun, & spontaneous and when she meets Her soon to be best friend she realizes she is completely the opposite. Rose is timid and mild mannered and her best friend is the neighborhood gate keeper, Mr. Duffy. Mr. Duffy hasn’t been himself ever since his dog passed away, so Mavis and Rose set out to cheer Mr. Duffy up.This was the first Barbara O'Connor book I’ve read and I really enjoyed it! Wish has been on my TBR forever, but it got bypassed when I picked this up for @booksamillion Kids Bookclub. This is such a simple but fierce book about friendship & I would highly suggest this to any kid.
